Sorry about the late reply. My version of Windows is Vista Home basic, and it is NTFS formatted.
I have the code, it now successfully builds, and my applications starts. When I click on the link label to encrypt an existing file, I then sign out of my account and sign into a different user account and the file is still viewable. It has not been encrypted, yet there are no errors during debug. Wierd.

Home Basic doesn't support filesystem level encryption of new files. It may (or this is limited to Premium) let you modify existing encrypted files.

Thank you so much for that info Mark.

greetings
i make use of the SelectedValue.ToString(); to display the selected value in a textbox; however instead of getting the value selected i get a numerical value. what should i do?
private void button2_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
txt_comkey_tbl2.Text = lstTable2.SelectedValue.ToString();
}
the following code is used to populate the listbox
private void cmdReadTable2_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
/* Display columns from the second table */
String DbTableName = "";
DbTableName = lstTables.Text.Trim();
OpenDb();
ReadTableColumns(2, DbTableName);
Table2 = DbTableName;
}
thank you in advance

Try
lstTable2.SelectedItem.Text
*jaans
|
|
|
|
|
i get the following error....
'object' does not contain a definition for 'text' and no extension method 'text' accepting a first argument of type 'object' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
dot text is not available for selecteditem property
|
|
|
|
|
Try
txt_comkey_tbl2.Text = lstTable2.SelectedItem == null ? string.Empty :
(string)lstTable2.SelectedItem;
|
|
|
|
|
i get an exception error "InvalidCastException was unhandled"
{"Unable to cast object of type 'System.Data.DataRowView' to type 'System.String'."}
|
|
|
|
|
What is the type of lstTable2 ?

What objects are you putting into the listbox?
Remember that a listbox will call ToString() on the object and display that in the listbox.
If you get the selected value it will return the object, rather get selected text.

lstTable2.SelectedItem.ToString()
i used the above and it didn't work. i went back to the code where i accessed the tables through the dataview, datatable and show that the value member for the table was "data_type" and not the actual table name
below is the corrected code:
lstTable1.DataSource = TableView;
lstTable1.DisplayMember = "COLUMN_NAME";
lstTable1.ValueMember = "COLUMN_NAME"; //It was a "DATA_TYPE";
thank you all for the help

Can u give me an example?
I want to write the array to excel ( get it saved in excel)
not just using Response like given below
//Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.xls";
//System.IO.StringWriter stringWrite = new System.IO.StringWriter();
//System.Web.UI.HtmlTextWriter htmlWrite = new HtmlTextWriter(stringWrite);
//stringWrite.Write("hai");
//Response.Write(stringWrite.ToString());

Hi all,
I am currently working on a report and I'm making use of Microsoft Reporting Services and Visual Studio 2008. Furthermore I'm trying to make use of a report expression to handle / accommodate fields within the report that will have empty / null values. My expression is currently looking like this:
=Switch(Fields!TAGS.Value.ToString().Trim().Equals(String.Empty), "No Tags",
IsNothing(Fields!TAGS.Value.ToString()), "No Tags",
Fields!TAGS.Value.ToString().Contains("BIBO"), "YES",
Not Fields!TAGS.Value.ToString().Contains("BIBO"), No)
The problem is that when I run the report, some of the values of Fields!TAGS.Value does not match with any statement in the switch, and I know that the value is equal to nothing (empty) in the database.
So how can I handle / accommodate for this occurrence?
Many thanks in advance
Kind regards,

1. Create Access Database and Tables
2. Depending on the format of the file either use Access Import or write some code to read the file and insert the records
There you go.

Hi, I'm currently on a project on image processing and is there anyway that can convert a 32bits iamge to a 24bits image in order for me to run a method called in AForge .Net to get the similarities in image while retaining the colour if i were to convert it into 8bits I would lose the colour in the images. It only allows 24bits or 8bits for the method to run though. Thanks. =)

Just throw away every fourth byte. It's only used as padding to get each pixel on a word boundary.
Despite everything, the person most likely to be fooling you next is yourself.

Not true all of the time... sometimes it is used as the "alpha" channel to convey translucency. But probably not in his case.
He said, "Boy I'm just old and lonely,
But thank you for your concern,
Here's wishing you a Happy New Year."
I wished him one back in return.
