To implement application as a service......
I have seen GUI-based application working as Windows service......Don't know what code needs to be written in OnStart() method. Or may b some settings I'm missing
Please at least hint me what to do for an application which is not GUI-based
Regards......

Does that mean it's a good idea?? Nope.
The OnStart method is used to start your worker threads that do the actual work of the service. If you have no idea who threading works or how to start a thread, your dead in the water.
Services do not have a GUI because, 1, there is no message pump to drive form events, 2, the OnStart method only ever fires once in the life of a service, so there's no way to get a GUI going and keep it going, and 3, OnStart fires, even if theres noone logged into the machine! If there's noone logged in, there's no desktop to show the form on.
Yeah, it's possible to do, but you have to have advanced knowledge of services and how Windows works in order to pull it off. This is information that could cover and entire book and is well beyond the capacity of a few forum posts to explain.

Hi all,
I have what I can only describe as the strangest application error I have seen. Hopefully this will not be so strange to some of you out there thou
I have an application which essentially contains a TabControl with a number of TabPages. For example lets use tabPage1 and tabPage2 as instances.
Both tab pages have a groupBox control within them. These both work fine.
Each of those controls have a smaller group box within them.
In both of the smaller group box are a number of controls, specifically 9 ComboBoxes.
Basically apart from the Names of the controls both tab pages are the same.
Now for the issue.
I have 3 laptops all running Windows Vista, two of which have .Net 3.5 installed the other with .Net 3.0.
When running the application on the 3 machines all is fine except on one machine(not the .Net 3.0), ONE of the smaller group boxes previously mentioned just is not there.
As i said i have a number of GroupBoxes in use and also ComboBoxes. Which are visible, on the machine that is having the issue, in that very same application.
As the application works fine on all other machines tested, i assume must be a machine issue. But as a have said identical instances of the controls can be seen within the same application. Its just this one group box that has mysteriously vanished.
I hope somebody can shed some light on this issue as i just cannot understand the possiblilty of such an issue as this.
Thanks

Try updating the graphics drivers on that machine.
After that, try specifically setting the Visible property in the form code.

Thanks John,
Although we didnt update the driver, we did re-install it and it solved the problem
Do you by any chance no the reason behind this?
|
|

Nope. My advice was the result of years of experience seeing weird crap like that. Since it only happened on one of the three machines, it appeared to be a display problem, so my first thought was video drivers.

hi all,
how can i display a HeaderText in a GridView Horizontaly ?
i need it horizontaly cause vertical take a lot of space in my GridView and i dont have a lot.
thanks in advanced
|
|
|
|
|
Ask this in the ASP.NET Forum.
But, AFAIK, horizontal column headers are not supported.
|
|
|
|

i will try to ask but anyway thanks for answering

|

AFAIK, it can be done using HTML (in the column header template), but it might have cross-browser problems. IMHO the best way would be rendering the vertical text image and placing it as the column header.

I figured someone may have had a workaround. That's why I told him to ask in the ASP.NET forum. I'm not expert at webforms, to be sure.

I just happened to do such a workaround a couple of years ago, but can't find the source

what's happening?
Thanks

Your question is not clear. Looks like multiple event handlers are attached with your button's click event.

|

According to what you've described, this is what I think is happening.
When you click the button in question, a function in another class is executed first.
If this post was helpful, be sure to vote it as such.

Hi.
I'm a spanish developer, i need to implement a 2D Closet designer very similar to this: http://www.ikea.com/ms/es_ES/rooms_ideas/pax_step_by_step_08/index.html
The system must do this:
1. drag items with texture, from the menu to a design area.
2. drop in the area in function of the properties, for example:
- Object_A, can drop only in the base of the closet.
- The size of the Object_B is from point A to the point of collision in the near object
- We can put the Object_C, only from top to bottom (move restricted in x direction).
3. The user can edit the position and the size of any object in any time.
Did any of you know resources (tutorials, examples, templates, libraries, plug-ins...) that can help me to finish saving time?
I have a little problem of time.
Thank you.
