you're right - i thought it was saying it comes with .NET *Framework* 2.x. The SDK (not the Framework) does contain it thanks.

Install the database on the DB server, use clickonce to deploy the application to the clients.

what u wrote i can't understand.

What did you not understand
install - to deploy an application
database - where your data is stored
DB Server - where you have installed your database server (SQL Server)
Clickonce - MS method of application deployment[^]
deploy - make the UI part of application available to you users
application - you used the word in your title so I can assume you know the meaning.
client - the poor sods who are paying you.

What are you doing reading 1000+ pages back, an explanation of how to acheive the Ops requirement would take a book of which there are many available!

Hi,
I want to develop an application which translates english text to other language(hindi,french) just like google translator does.I don't want it to be very sophesticated .I want to understand the concepts of Localization,Globalization,Culture etc.through this.

Localization does not automatically convert the text of one language to another. It does no translation of one language to another. The changes in the language that you see in web pages and normal applications is using resource files with all of the strings in the app translated, by hand, to the target lanugage.

Hi
Can someone tell me what the appropriate connection string would to connect to an SQL2008 db using an IP address?
I am able to log in from the host machine using "Datasource=SQL2008Server etc.", but substituting this with
"Datasource = x.x.x.x,1433" or
"Datasource = x.x.x.x\SQL2008ServerName,1433" or
"Datasource = x.x.x.x,1433\SQL2008ServerName" (or any number of permutations I can think of) doesn't work.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks

Have you tried by providing the network library ? Check if it works or not if network library is provided as follows...
"Datasource = x.x.x.x,1433;Network Library=DBMSSOCN"

Yep I did set the network library, doesn't work.
connectionstrings.com give this example:
Data Source=190.190.200.100,1433;Network Library=DBMSSOCN;Initial Catalog=myDataBase;User ID=myUsername;Password=myPassword;
I'm wondering, is it absolutely essential to provide a User ID and Password?

Ideally it should work with the connection string you have specified. Try your luck by giving the provider name
"Provider=sqloledb;Network Library=DBMSSOCN;"
"Data Source=190.190.200.100,1433;"
"Initial Catalog=MyDatabaseName;User ID=MyUsername;"
"Password=MyPassword;"

I use the following string
Data Source=Server;Initial Catalog=Database;User ID=xUser;Password=PWD;Pooling=True;Min Pool Size=1;Max Pool Size=10
no library using the SQLClient, works perfectly

Could you specify what your "Datasource=server" looks like? My problem is going from "DataSource=SQL2008ServerName" to using IP and port. Do I need something like "DataSource=x.x.x.x\SQL2008ServerName"? If so where do I specify the port?

|
|
|

Sorry - I use a server instance name but I'm pretty sure you can use a bracketed IP address [###.###.###.###]

Hi,
I'm using C#.net 3.0.I used this code but it is still showing an error highlighting fThread.Interrupt() ---Object reference not set to an instance of an object.Now what changes should I do in order to make this code work
[code]
private void frameExtract()//function to extract frames
{
string outPath = txtExtBitmap.Text;
System.IO.Directory.CreateDirectory(outPath);
if (fg != null)
{
foreach (FrameGrabber.Frame f in fg)
{
using (f)
{
picBoxFrame.Image = (Bitmap)f.Image.Clone();
f.Image.Save(System.IO.Path.Combine(outPath, "frame" + f.FrameIndex + ".bmp"), System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Bmp);
Application.DoEvents();
}
if (fg == null)
{
return;
}
}
}
}
public void ThreadProc()
{
try
{
MethodInvoker mi = new MethodInvoker(this.frameExtract);
this.BeginInvoke(mi);
}
catch (ThreadInterruptedException e)
{
Console.WriteLine("Interruption",e);
}
catch (Exception we)
{
Console.WriteLine("Exceptiom",we);
}
}
private void button43_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)//Extract button
{
fThread = new Thread(new ThreadStart(ThreadProc));
fThread.IsBackground = true;
fThread.Start();
}
private void button44_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)//Stop Button
{
fThread.Interrupt();
fThread = null;
}
[\code]
|
|
|
|
|
The error is telling you that fThread was not created. Make sure that it has been created and is not null when you click button 44.

What do you mean by this code? Interrupting a thread and setting it as NULL doesn't make any sense. Also do a NULL checking before you use the thread object.

Great name for a button

hi,
thanks for your reply.I'm not able to figure out this problem since I have already created the fThread in button43 click event and also instantiated it.
