You have to do a little more work, and understand the tools and language you are working with.
XML stores everthing as a string, the d formatting option however expects to work with DateTime.
row[1] = String.Format("{0:d}", DateTime.Parse(row[1].ToString() ));
It isn't even ncessary to use String.Format
row[1] = DateTime.Parse(row[1].ToString()).ToShortDateString();
I know the language. I've read a book. - _Madmatt

I wish, I really wish, I had a pound (or even a rupee) for every question like this. Someone, somewhere, is breeding a generation of coders who do not have the remotest idea of what a DateTime is. Try reading the documentation once more.

Richard;
Maybe we just don't have as much experience as some of you guys...
THX for all feedback

Maybe you don't spend enough time reading the documentation first!

(It's ISO 8601) Look at the o format.

Hey people need some, have a 'main form' which calls a new form at some point and I don't want the 'new form'
to disappear when I click any where on the main form until I supply what is needed on the 'new form' - more
like what a MessageBox does, it produces the beep sound. How can I do this?
for example --- to create a form when the MainForm loads
private void FormMain_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Form2 NewForm = new Form2();
NewForm.Show(this);
}
Thank you that was helpful...

Add a button on your main form, double-click on it, and put something like this in the eventhandler;
Form1 form1 = new Form1();
form1.ShowDialog(this);
Form1 should be the classname of your new form. You can edit that name in the properties-window.
form1 is a temporary variable that holds an instance of the class Form1 .
Hope this helps

To be more simple:
Use ShowDialog() instead of Show().
Thank you that helped!!!

Form2.ShowDialog();
This will prevent you from using the main form until the second form is closed. If you want to work with both forms at the same time and keep the second form on top of the main form, use this:
Form2.Show(this);

Thankyou that helped

Hi all
I want to handle the ThreadAbortException on my thread when some call to Abort happens.
Is there some ThradState where this cannot be possible ?
Right now I am thinking that only UNSTARTED state because Start method was not called.
Any guess?

Better verify it with the list of ThreadState s in the documentation[^] than ask for guesses.

am working on a large vocabulary continious speech recognition project for Amharic( Ethiopian) language using SAPI . i used the grammer class to bullid the neccesery grammer for the command mode and it worked with good accuarcy. the problame is with dectation mode. b/c there is no amharic SR engine, i want to adapt the english SR engine for amharic. my question is is there any way to capture the recognized phoneme of the speech using SAPI. not the recognized words... iwant to map the recognized phenomes to there equivalent amharic charcters. ..

I think there is no answer because the people who see this don't know the answer.
I am an example. I had never used SAPI.

That should give you the hint to stop posting it then.
We are not required to answer any question posted here. If there was a need for clarification someone would have asked for it. Most people here will not respond unless they have something to contribute.

This forum is for windows OS. I don't know witch os Your mobile uses, but Here I doubt if anyone could help you, because very few would go that far to write for Mobile. Since when you said SAPI(Speech Application Programming Interface). I probably know what it is, but never used. But I don't know anything about "amharic SR engine".

I didnt say the application is 4 mobile. it's 4 windows os(xp or vista)...

amahric is the name of the language. like English so wat i wanted to say is AMHARIC Speech Recgnition engine

no i am talking about a speech recognition engine. i was thinking, if i can extract the phonems of the recognized word using regular english speech recognition engine. i would map the phonems to amharic charcters.(amharic unlike english has a specific character representation for each phonems)

I can't help you with your problem. I can think of only 2 possible way. Either create your own alghoritem that reads text and there shoud be those phonems or create a voice that says, then cut audio and then compare to audio that is being spoken. But this is only an idea. I don't know if it will even work
