What would be a way to check an email account writing an application in C#

hi there,
To retreive email, u have to implement POP3 protocol.
To more easier, just find the article that had already wrap it up as a class for easily programming.
And I'm pretty sure that u can search a lot on CP site.
below is just one of them:

Dear Friends,
I have a problem. I want to use a cookie for some kind of data sharing between the Web Based
part of my App. and the Windows Based part. (I insert my desired value in a cookie using Asp .Net, but I can not read it from my Windows Forms!)
The problem is, when I extract the Data With HttpWebRequest obj, that string is something
like an encrypted string! something like this : 12wec4hdnx56ye4fdh (and it's not fixed)
I'll be thankful if you would help me.
Regards,
Babak
P.S. I tried it with a Web Service method, but the problem is still the same !!
There is no problem when I read it in an ASP.Net page.

you need to have
private System.Net.CookieContainer Cookies = new System.Net.CookieContainer();
mt.CookieContainer = Cookies;
where mt is your webservice
|
|
|
|
|
Would you please explain it more ?
what is mt?! the web service that do what, and how ?
|
|
|
|
|
sorry, the web service that your windows form has subscribed to
with the following
private System.Net.CookieContainer Cookies = new System.Net.CookieContainer();
public localhost.Service1 mt = new localhost.Service1();
mt.CookieContainer = Cookies;
|
|
|
|
|
Excuse me please,
but what is the structure of my webservice ?! what should it do?!
|
|
|
|
|
The cookie is stored in the browser, not in the web server. You can't get the value using a WebRequest, as the value is sent to the server, not from the server. If you want the value you have to store it elsewhere.

I have a datagrid that is bound to a collection.
I have events that fire on individual items in that collection.
I would like to see an example with a form that has a datagrid, a button that says paint red and a textbox that specifies the index of the dg to paint
|
|
|
|
|
I have the following inside one of my programs.
where I have alternate colours for the datagrid rows.
I donno if this would help, hope it does.
if(i%2 == 0)
{
DataGrid1.Items[i].ForeColor = System.Drawing.Color.Black;
DataGrid1.Items[i].BackColor = System.Drawing.Color.LightBlue;
}
else
{
DataGrid1.Items[i].ForeColor = System.Drawing.Color.Black;
DataGrid1.Items[i].BackColor = System.Drawing.Color.LightSteelBlue;
}

Dear All,
I am badly stuck in this application, hve tried all my references but couldnt resolve, i hve a great expectations that people here would definately be able to find some ways out for me.
I hve to create C#.net application where my users can animate 3d models. models used in this application shd be .max and animation shd be achived by using Motion capture. so far the most suitable engine i hve found to do this is axiom because it can bind models with Mocap files.
problem is i dont know how shd i create a 3d space for my users to work on this 3d objects and also how can i create a 3d models library or something like listbox( which is only for text ) but something similar , different interface can also work, plz suggest guys.
Replies can be directly sent to me on my email address at: jenniferaahmed@yahoo.com

Here's a bit of info I wanted to pass on to the world in the form of a question I'll ask, then answer myself. I hope it will be helpful to someone someday:
I was trying to learn C# from a video learning CD-ROM from Keystone Systems. All of a sudden, I saw a message on a blank screen saying something to the effect of...
vids:tscc video decompressor not found
I checked google and found references to the problem suggesting I download a file from one of the following two places, but the web sites are no longer operational:
http://www.getafile.com/cgi-bin/mer..hsmith/TSCC.exe
http://supadetail.gmaxsupport.com/vids/TSCC.exe
Please, oh please, help me! What am I to do? Boo, hoo...

Fear not, for I have come to save the day and remove this impediment to your learning experience!
TSCC stands for TechSmith Screen Capture Codec. It is used in one of TechSmith's products, Camtasia Studio, which may have been used to create the video learning CD-ROM you're trying to view. TSCC is also known as the Camtasia codec. Learn all about it here:
http://www.techsmith.com/products/studio/codec.asp
Cast aside all of those useless old URLs you found earlier, and pay ye no attention to them, for behold, here is the one you really need:
http://www.techsmith.com/products/studio/codecdownload.asp
At this time, the current version is 2.0.6, released 27 June 2005. File size is 170K Bytes. It is compatible with Windows.
Download the TSCC.exe file, run it, hope to God it contains no viruses or worms, and you will be good to go. Bless you, and continue on, intrepid consumer of knowledge that originates from video learning series CD-ROMs...

I am trying to determine if a user is part of an admin domain group by using active directory.
I only have the username: (domain\username) and the group name that i am searching for (domain\group). Can anyone suggest a solution to determine if this user is part of that group?
Thanks!

Ok heres my code:
<br />
Object_Basic tempUnit = UnitTypes[newUnit];<br />
this.Objects[openSlot] = tempUnit;<br />
Now what its doing is when i move tempUnit to Objects[openSlot] its moving there but its also not a seperate identity... so if i were to change UnitTypes[newUnit].name = "something else" then all the slots in Objects[] would also change thier .name to "something else".
Its kinda hard to explain and i got no idea why it does this... i've had this happen to me twice in my code, and the previous time i was forced to create a seperate variable to keep the changes i made saved but even that does not seem to be working here... plz help
thanks!

That's not a bug - that's the way it's supposed to work. Reference types are not copied to different locations, they're referenced. So you're not assigning a copy of tempUnit, but your adding a new reference to it in this.Objects[openSlot] . Value types are copied (numeric primitives, enums, and structs are value types) but then UnitTypes[newUnit].name = "something else" wouldn't work as you'd expect it because the value type is copied before the name field or property is assigned. You would instead have to copy the struct back out, change it, then re-assign it.
See http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/1200/dotnet/default.aspx[^] for a discussion of reference types vs. value types.

I don't know if this is the correct place to post this but I didn't see any Message Board for Crystal Reports.
I am using the Crystal reports version that comes with Visual Studio 2002. I have my reports opening in a separate form. The reports work fine but when I close the form it seems like the connection used by crystal reports is still open because I cannot do anything to my database. Sometimes it times out and sometimes I need to restart my program to release the connection. How do I close the connection between crystal reports and the database?
I've been searching online and haven't found very much on this. Thanks.

How are you filling your ReportDocument ? If you're using a DataSet then you're responsible for closing your connections. The DataAdater derivatives like OleDbDataAdapter and SqlDataAdapter do this manually but with connections you have to close them (or dispose them using the using block statement in C#).

I'm not using a dataset I made the connection using the Report Expert using the OleDb Connection. I am connecting to an access database.

So then the other thing I mentioned is still valid: dispose your connection. The C# using block statement is handy for that:
using (OleDbConnection conn = new OleDbConnection("..."))
{
OleDbCommand cmd = conn.CreateCommand("...");
} This will make sure the connection is closed. If you don't want to close and re-open the connection all the time, defined your OleDbConnection as a field and in your Form 's Dispose override call Dispose on your connection field inside the if block (that's where you free mananaged objects; outside the condition - so that it always runs - you free native resources like window and file handles).

I'm still learning the ropes in ASP.NET with C#. What is the C# code used to allow a user to log in at a website? This is done so often on ASP.Net pages, and yet I have not yet found a good reference source from which to learn how to do this.

Pickup any book on ASP.NET and you'll find what you're looking for. They all have a section on Security. There are many ways to do this, each with their own requirements, pro's and con's that it's just too much to go into in a Forum environment.
