Dont know why but the Visual C compiler is not generating any code for the following
using Visual Studio 2008 Pro
c.ContextFlags = (CONTEXT_FULL | CONTEXT_CONTROL); <-- no code

my_ptr = c.SegFs; // Fs pointst to TEB <-- No code
my_ptr = my_ptr + 0x2c; // point to ThreadArray sotrage
(DWORD)my_ptr1 = *my_ptr; // point to first slot <-- No code
I move the code to some other soruce/DLL and did generate code for the statements in question
I tempted to go into _asm mode

Unreference variable my_ptr1, no use generating code. And just curious how do you able to compiled that statement.

constant data, try assigning variable data.

compiler optimises to use (address of c + SegFs member offset + 0x2c). I think it is safe to use this without asm.

Your final build should be release configured, i mean that code is safe in release build also, the compiler generates optimised code, it is still safe to run. what is the problem you face in release mode although the variable assignment is skipped in the optimised code.
if you want to disable optimisation for a region of code, use,

So this InitInstance is the first time it is called so it should be not replaced or overwritten because the WinMain function sets the nCmdShow. And I don't want to make it other, I just want to add the Maximized flag.
By the way, I already tried pMainFrame->ShowWindow(SW_SHOWMAXIMIZED); and it was not working for me, more than 3 hours searching for examples and infos in MSDN and the web. So I guess that:
m_nCmdShow = SW_SHOWMAXIMIZED;
pMainFrame->ShowWindow (m_nCmdShow);
is going to have the same problems.
I am not saying that you are not right, but as I used it... works as well.

I need to be able to look-up a directories contents and copy each filename contained therein WITHOUT any User intervention. Ex: Path: "c:\\Wells\\Program\\DataBases\\Operators"
How do I look-up each file located in directory Operators? I need this data so I can load-up a ListControl Box for the user to select the appropriate file. I use CString extensively. If you could please show me code as to how to do this.

How do I use those in MFC. Sorry, but I'm not going to say I do. I have no idea as to how to begin.
I know the extensions I'll need to find(ie, ".bku", ".sdb", and ".wdb" ) and I know the directory such files will be located (ie, "c:\\Wells\\Program\\DataBases\\SystemDB\\DispatchedWells\\" ).
Think you maybe able to figure out how to use them in MFC?

In addition to the other answer... Once you have the name of the file, you pass it to a string and use something like:
szExtension = szFileName.Right(szFileName.ReverseFind('.'));
if ((szExtension == "bku") || (szExtension == "sdb") || (szExtension == "wdb"))
Do whatever you want to do with the files that you are looking for

When doing this type of drawing for the first time and getting errors, you should check your return values, especially for CreateDIBSection. This can indicate where the problem occurs. I would also provide values for all the fields in the BITMAPINFO header structure. I'm assuming that all the other variables that you didn't explain, are correctly initialized values of some MFC class that you are using, and that the values are correct.
I don't use MFC, but you might read this: Drawing a View[^]
The article states: "A device context is a Windows data structure that contains information about the drawing attributes of a device such as a display or a printer. All drawing calls are made through a device-context object. For drawing on the screen, OnDraw is passed a CPaintDC object. For drawing on a printer, it is passed a CDC object set up for the current printer."
