What is a web installer?
Is it an installer through which we can install
the required software directly from the web itself?
OR
Is it like first we have to download the setup file
and then we can install as usually we do?

win service - sockett events not fired

i'm working on a service app(derives frm System::ServiceProcess::ServiceBase).
the service uses a 3rd party lib for network support which has its socket classes almost as the same as implemented by MFC lib.
----
the control flow of my service is-
onstart
start timer 10 secs
thats it
on elapse of timer
start a thread
thats it
the thread
create a socket obj
sockobj->listen // this returns immediately
thats it
onstop
destroy the sockobj
exit service
----
Now, the sock class triggers an event on client connection request(i.e. , OnAccept). this is where i'm stuck, the event doesn't get fired, or atleast my OnAccept doesn't get called. the sock obj is alive untill Onstop of the service. i've an application (not a service) which runs almost the same code, but, ah, this service freaks out Confused | :confused:

How are we supposed to help you with using a 3rd party lib?
Contact the vendor!

If it's really like MFC then you may need to use AsyncSelect or EventSelect with FD_ACCEPT flag.

I have a problem with authentication on ISA server proxy. I use NTLM protocol and my code works fine on winXP client, but it is not working on win98. It fails very early when I'm trying to get NTLM Negotiate string. InitializeSecurityContext returns 0x80090302 (SEC_E_UNSUPPORTED_FUNCTION)
Client operating system is windows 98SE with IE 6.0 SP1. I read somewhere, that InitializeSecurityContext can fail if DCOM98.exe is not installed. So I't not the case. I tried to install it but with no success. IE is working fine through the proxy, so it must be problem in my program.
Can somebody help please?

I have downloaded and tried to use this class witin a VS 2005 MFC C++ application.

I am having build problems, has anyone used this Class and developed a sample project.

I was going to use the CSpreadSheet, but then came across the BasicExcel class which seemed more error free.

So anyone with a sample project using BasicExcel.

How to remove unused resource IDs ?

Hy.

I'm trying to clean up a "huge" project, and since i have a few thousand resource IDs in the "resource.h" file, it's a pain in the b.t to try to remove the ones that are really not used in the RC file.

I've found a tool, the ResOrgNET program which can find duplicate IDs, but it still doesn't help in removing the IDs that are not used anymore.

The question is : is there an add-in, program or maybe even a Perl/Java/whatever script that can help me find the duplicate resources ? (it must no remove them automatically, it should either only report them so i can remove them manually, or show a dialog in which i can tell it which ones to remove).

in VC 6, view-->Resource symbols helps you to remove unused ids.

I didn't know about that option, it's exactly what I needed.

I've found in in Visual Studio.Net too, when you rightclick in the resource view on any of the resources there's the "Resource Symbols" option.

Hello Friends,
I have created Combo box in my item.I have question that.. when i will open the Combo box then it will show me last selected item in blue cursor ( ie. it will show mw which string i selected last time).
PLZ help me...I am new in this filed so i dont know what Function or method have to used.

Are you talking about one instance of the exe or you want the application to remember which item was choosen the last time when app was run ?

In my application i created one combo box.I am retraving data from ini file.In my .ini file one section is Default..value of default is equal to string which i selected last time.i want in my application to remember which item was selected the last time when app was run ?( ie it will show in blue cursor ( highlight)).

I hope u got my question.

Do not follow Monty's advise he is confused .
Well you are already half way thro to reach what you want .
You said you write the last selected string in a section called Default in an .ini file . So why not you just read the same Default entry when app starts and compare it with combobox items and then you SetSel(item no) . I feel you mean setting focus by "blue color"

Ya..u mean...I will compare with if condition n then use selcur method. ( i want to focus or highligh last item..For example when we select any application then it will show us in blue or any color.. that what i want.. ie just only indicate me this section i selected last time.. )

Setcursel is appropriate method or not??

Read the Default section of .ini file and get the string in CString or LPCTSTR = lpszStr;
Now implement the following in your OnInitDialog()

int lastselection = m_combo.FindString(0,lpszStr);
m_combo.SetCurSel(lastselection);

Hi 1) Read your ini file and load the default string in CString str or LPCTSTR str;
2) implement the following in your OnInitDialog

Well you will have to Owner draw the combobox yourself, lots of articles on owner draw on CP use search.

Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel

After you have added all the items to the combobox, call SelectString() with the one you want selected.
