Hi Friends
I have a path as given below , now i wish to know whether the path given below is a file or folder.
I tried using OpenFile Function but it does not work for long names.
"C:\New Folder (4)\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Folder\New Text Document.txt"

hi i m selecting the item from the list controll through mouse click and want to get the item on which mouse was clicked, i mean selected item i tried the function of clistctrl but was not successful.
there is function which tells the position of selected item but no func to get he value of slected item like getitem() which gives the item fron list controll,
i had not found any func which takes the position and give the item text.

Hi,
The list controls holds collections,Hence you have to cast it to specific datatype while you get the value of the selected item..
Like ...
private void listBox1_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
{
string t=(string)listBox1.SelectedItem;
}

as i describled above there is one func which can be used for getting selected items.
like getFirstselecteditemposition n dont know how to get the selected item from that as there is no function to get the tesxt.

Actually, there's more than one. What's wrong with:

(I'm using menus from the Dundas Toolkit, but I'm not certain it's relevant )
In one of our menu, not the longest one, the last item is a small "down" arrow/triangle, like the one used to expand a menu in some applications where menu items are hidden when not often used.
In my case, it does not expand anything, the menu is completly shown.
Is there an API somewhere that can tell me if a menu will be shown expanded or simply show the "most recently used items" ?
Or what can I google for to look for an answer ?

Ok, I figured it out.
There was a separator as the first item of the menu that I did not see, and it seems to be playing havoc with Dundas ( so it was related to Dundas )
So yet another happy customer !!

I want to use it as a server display .
Which will display many things like IP etc.
and it will go on displaying data as it reaches server.
How do I update my attached m_strEdit variable to show many things without deleting the previous received data at Edit box.

suppose your m_strEdit is an Edit control of type CString
then for updating the same with new data
CString NewData = "a"
m_strEdit += NewData

You can assign a string type variable to it and then use it to set/reset the contents back.
You can always take the text from the edit box, attach some more characters to it and then replace the text but that would be a length procedure...
Somethings seem HARD to do, until we know how to do them.

m_edit.SetWindowText(strText); Another option is to move the insertion point to the end using SetSel(), and then replace what's there (which is nothing) using ReplaceSel(). Try 'em both to see which you prefer.

Hello,
I want to start programming a new Anti-Virus using MFC or .NET or whatever other C++ platform for Windows.
I know the "regular" C/C++ and have all the algorithms ready, but now I need to connect it to Windows' mail clients.
Can anyone help me with the proper approach ?
As I understand I'll need to listen to the POP3 and SMTP ports for data, but how do I know that I'm the first one to get and parse it ?
Say, I have an additional AV like NAV, and now I want to put mine before it:
i.e. I'll be the first to scan the mail data coming through the POP3 port and the last to scan the outgoing SMTP data.
For my first experiment I'd like to change all the 'A' letters of the incoming mail to '66' and all 'B' letters of all outgoing mail to '88'.
Is there anywhere a piece of SW that I can use for implementing this course of action with some windows dialogs (not a consol application) ?

Well I have a mini-project just for my own personal curiosity where I've setup a propertysheet and added a number of propertypages to it. So far so good, no issues. However on on of the propertypages I want to add a toolbar. Now there is quite a bit of info out there on toolbars but for the life of me I can't work out what I'm missing so I'm hoping one of you might point me to some source code where this is done or point out what I'm missing.
Below is the code I added to add the toolbar to what I think should be the property page.
