yep they did some sort of a trick...that is why i think there a possibility of hiding a partition through FAT32 table...but i do not know how....there are many programs that do hide folders and files but the programs must be installed on the system...where ideally i would require something portable that will work on windows OS platform (windows 2000,XP) using one small exe program ... i know that it could be accomplished in some way or another
i did some research but unfortunately i did not find much

The FAT file system (used to) flag an erased file by replacing the first character in the file name with a (hex) E5 character, if I remember it right.
That could be one approach to hiding files (while maintaing the proper FAT table entries for the file in question).
Maybe that's a way to go?

i will do some research on FAT and experiment a bit...alternatively, do you have some good links that gives detailed (but not too complicated) information of FAT32...

Hello.
I have no links for you from the top of my head, sorry.
But there must be heaps of documentation for the FAT file system in the net.
I wrote a program to repair broken FAT-diskettes a few years ago, I have gone through my source code, but there were no links.
So you have to Google for it. Maybe it's better to search with Alta Vista, since this is old information.

Hello EB,
I want to create how to create a socket which will work on a PC having connectivity to internet through proxy.
I use CSocket::Create() but it creates socket on a ip address of server, so my application doesn't able to listen on that socket as it is running on another machine. How can i redirect the msges from server to my PC.

Have a look at CDC::Arc() if it suits your needs.

To draw a curve, you need three points. With two points, you can only draw a line.

Hi All,
I try to read ( use ReadFile method )from pipe and always fail.
I check the Error ( by using GetLastError()) and i found that the Error is 183 ( ERROR_ALREADY_EXISTS ) i found in the MSDN that this error meed that Cannot create a file when that file already exists.
I don't know what to do ....
Please someone can help me ?

My guess is that the error you get comes from CreateFile, rather than ReadFile.
Since you wan't to read from the pipe, my guess is that some other application already has created the pipe, right?
In that case, use OPEN_EXISTING in your CreateFile call.

I create the pipe - when i try to read in some state ( in the startup of the application i my reading from this pipe is ok ) my read fail.

According to MSDN, that's not possible.

yes - its 183.
but i add some more method that check if the pipe already open and if its not it will reopen it.
now i getting error code 142
142 = The system cannot perform a JOIN or SUBST at this time. ERROR_BUSY_DRIVE

The following problem occurs in unicode debug config:
A socket connection handler class CMclSocket has a derived class
CHttpProtoFile. A function Send() of the base class is called in the
derived class in the OnConnect handler. Untill this function is called
in the derived class the member variables of the base class r
acessible. Once this function is called, accessing the member variables
inside this function in the base class throws '0xC0000005: Access
Violation.' error while running the application. This application works
fine in debug config.

hi all,
in a VC++ application, a .dsw file is created, on click of which we are able to open our project in the state as it was before closing...i want to do the same thing for my application...where in my project.xyz(say) shud open up the last state of my application.....rite now i am able to open the initial state(by calling .exe file, that is through registry entry)...where should i store all the information of state of my application, n where and how should i use that information....hope my point is clear...plzz reply as soon as possible...thanks and regards, geetika...

IMHO,
if you are to show the file in the previous state,save the number of characters that were not being shown (at the time of exiting from your application) from the start and save it to the registry.The next time you have to show the file, set the text on the control on which you are showing the contents according to the count you put previously in the registry.
This could be one of the many options of doing this. You can also look for better opinions/options on this forum.
