HI,

A view flickers because of the stuff it draws. So, try to optimize what they drawing.

But it also appears with a window consisting of common controls like listboxes, buttons and so on...
What call is responsible for this update (and flickering)?

Try adding these styles to the view

WS_CLIPSIBLINGS, WS_CLIPCHILDREN

It seems you have put also window controls onto view. Again, I prone to say that in that case the controls are also redrawn (not updated). This may take some time too.

You should provide more info on what you are doing to let us to be more concrete. Anyway, you should update not entire view but a part of it. You'd rather set a mask parameter into UpdateAllViews and get it from CView::OnUpdate method, then update the necessary part of a view.

static variable causes link error

I created a class CCamera using Insert->New Class MFC with the base class CView.
I made the constructor and destructor public(they were protected when created).I declared a static int varialble CamCounter in Camera.h. I included Camera.h in a DialogClass and tried to use the static variable CCamera::cameraCount in Dialog Class.
But it gave a link error
error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: static int CCamera::cameraCount"

What could be reason behind this?

did you initialize it in the Camera.cpp file like this

int CCamera::cameraCount = 0;

Add the following line somewhere at the top of Camera.cpp after #including Camera.h:

static int CCamera::cameraCount = 0;

problem with highlighting a selected thumbnail in clistctrl

Hi,

I using a clistctrl to display a list of thumbnails(that i extract using shell's IExtractImage). All works well but when i select a thumbnail with the mouse the whole thumbnail is masked with a blueish color instead of just highlighting the frame of the thumbnail as it's done in winxp file explorer(thumbnails view).

Does anybody know how to fix it? Help would be highly appriciated!

if you want to change highlight from ListCtrl you should use NM_CUSTOMDRAW

Hello

I have created the dialog based application . ON that dialog I don't want any menubars and captions. i.e I will disable the title bar and systemmenu.

SO I have to set the image to it. The image will be having the title bar and the close button and minimize button on it. So I want to hide the portion of image having the toolbar and when user moves the nouse at that position i want to show it again.

So how would I achieve it.

ye we can do that.
I am not getting how to start.

I have set the image now my dialog is not resizing.
I want to hide the portion of toolbar and when mouse come on it again show it.

You will need to handle the WM_NCPAINT messages for your application. The caption bar and buttons are part of the non-client area.

Your 'question' is a bit vague. The following variables all occupy a set amount of space in the computer's memory:

int x;
char y;
double z;

To put information into them, use:

x = 1;
y = 'A';
z = 9.01;

To get information from them, simply reference them like:

int a = x;
or
printf("%d", x);
