Does anybody know which *.dll files i have to copy with my program ,which i have compiled in C++.Net with "Release" when i take it to other computer where Microsoft Visula Studio.Net is not installed.

two things. One if you try and run your program it will usually tell you what dll's are missing. Two....just link in the runtime dll's and you won't have to worry about it.

also, keep in mind that Microsof didn't include dlls to run release versions of C++ .NET applications on Server 2003. (you can run release versions of VC6 apps, but not VC7 apps)

I have written a class for doing arithmetic operations on big numbers,inherited from CString class.But when i multiply numbers which are longer than 512 digits i get the incorrect result.In other cases i get the correct result.
P.S : i think the promblem is in displaying numbers which are longer than 1024 digit.why ? maybe CString objects can't contain texts longer than 1024 digit??
Can anyone help ?

According to this[^] thread, a CString can hold up to about 232 characters. I've used it with 64K chunks of text with no problems.

Wrong. CString objects can store up to INT_MAX (2,145,483,647) characters. This is documented in the CString::AllocBuffer() method.

It sounds like you need to take a look at the limits of the algorithm you are using to multiply those numbers. You may be overflowing or something like that.
CString is limited to the maximum positive size that can be stored in a 32-bit integer (minus some overhead).

and i want to use a hidden button for a tooltip
but it doesn't show!
the tooltip only shows when the button is visible, but this isn't what i want/need
andybody knows a workaround?

tooltip works with the button's messages of WM_MOUSEMOVE etc.
if the button is invisible, those messages will not be sent to the button, so standard tooltip doesn't work anyway.
you can create ur tooltip for dialog, if mouse moves to the button's position, then show ur tooltip. this is possible only way to do.

There are probably dozens of ways to accomplish this (I do not know them). But what you can possibly do is create an owner drawn button and then make it completly transparent, that way it is still invisable to the eye and yet windows will still consider it visable.
How do you make it transparent? Again there is more than one way! But if you make it an owner drawn button, then you simply do not draw it and say you have. (Simple!)

Probably easier is to use a picture control and define it as a rectangle with etched color.

Question: Are tooltips tied into picture contols (via MFC) or do you have to monitor mouse movement and figure out when to manualy call some tooltips function to show the tip.
If the latter then it probably is not easier. But, like I said, there is no dought that there are multiple way to accomplish the goal.

Hi,
I creating cab project in vs.net 2003. There is a provision to add necessary files to create the .cab file. I want to know how to add a whole folder to create .cab. Also I want to know how to programatically unzip the .cab files.
ie if I create a setup to install the .cab file it should unzip automatically and install the files. If anyone have some ideas please help...

after reading your other questions, I question the wisdom of the person that put you in your TA position.
look around CodeProject, there are TONS of cool things and samples that people have shared.
but it all depends on the level of the class you are facing; do they know any programming language ? What are their experience ?

actually this is a basic class that I TA for. My teacher has asked me to look for all of the things I have looked for. Everyone in this class is just learning their first language and I have mastered all that is taught in this class, but I live in OREGON!!! We have no funding so I'm probably one of the most able programmers in the school but we don't have enough classes about programming so need all the help I can get so I say again any help will be appreciated, especially cool SIMPLE codes.

Hey it's nice to here someone from back home is trying to share the wealth! This may not be the best place to look for programs for a beggining class, although there are a lot of articles here for begginers. It depends on what level of programs you are looking for: are they just to show what can be done or are they ment to show how to do it? There are articles here that can do both (more or less), but most are for peaple who already now how to program. One place to look for programs, is in archives, like the C/C++ User Journal (formaly C User Journal), they have programs going back for years (since before Windows or even DOS as we know it). Another source is university sights, some universities may even still have a BBS in place. When I started programming, I spent a great deal of time visiting the North Carolina State University (NCSU) BBS.
One more sugestion: Grab a book on computer terms (dictionary) look up the subject of interest and use the information there to determine what keywords to search for, then start googling!
