Hi, I have the following problem:
In my application the user can plug in an USB-drive and my program starts with a download from this USB-drive automatically. After downloading I will stop this USB-drive and inform the user, that he can pull out the USB-drive.
Please help me,
Thanks

Hello I'm developing an application, and I need to do this task:
I have an email account on the exchange 2003 server.
I want to be able to read every messege in the inbox (including all mime-types) and also to be able to delete it.
I want to connect the exchange server 2003 without any other application help (outlook client for example). (I think it because simple MAPI isnt supported on exchange 2003 server, but I'm not sure)
I tried to run some of the examples in this site but it always use the local profile and the outlook to send the message, and I can only read messeges that was allready inside the inbox of my local outlook.
I really need an example then connect directly to the exchange server and download emails.
please help.
thanks ,
Gilad.

Hi!
Anyone know if it's possible to add a menu into one window and receive the notifications in another.
I would like to add a menu to an app wich i have no sources for.
Any ideas would be great

Exactly what you want! As what I am understand from above you are want to receive the WM_COMMAND Message i.e. Menu Message From some Other application(which you don’t any source code).
I think you can achieve that by hooking WM_COMMAND message of particular EXE.
There is Lot of Example of Hook in System Section of MFC/C++

Great that's it.
Exactly what i want to do.
The app i'm trying to get the menu in has it's own kind of programming enviroment so it's no problem getting the HWND of the window and if i just can receive the menu click with a hook i can dispatch the message back into the application again and let it do what i want.
Thank you

Yes you can i suppose,
1.Get the main window handle of the target application.
2.Call GetMenu(HWND) to get the handle to that window
3.do what you want to do with the HMENU that it returns.

but he DOES NOT have the source... how could he insert a GetMenu() call ???

you dont need the src to make the getmenu call all you need is handle to the main window of the application.

Hi All
Does anyone know how to change the background color of common dialogs like CFileDialog, CPrintDlg etc...
Best Regards
Sundar

Add this to your InitInstance() , it will change default color of all dialogs in the application:
SetDialogBkColor(RGB(0xFF, 0, 0), RGB(0, 0xFF, 0xFF));

I have created a generic class (not derived from CWnd).
When I call one function in that class I like it to generate a call to another member function of the same class after about 3 seconds. Tips on how to accomplish that?
Thanks / Anders

Hi,
Within the Func() function use SetTimer as
SetTimer( NULL, 1, 500, (TIMERPROC)TimerProc);
This will work

First of all I must say I´m quite new to C++ and advanced programming.
I need to write an application that communicates with the serial port programming in Visual C++ .Net.
I have downloaded a number of source files from codeproject, however I cannot compile it, (guess its something wrong with my settings etc) and I´m a little confused about the number of files that come with the projects and what they do...
I was wondering if anybody had a sample program that communicates with the serial port (like only a .cpp file or two)....hm maybe it´s not even possible, but I´ll be happy for some comments on this as this serial comm is getting on my nerves
best regards

i wish i can send you a book through the net but it is still impossible if it is in phisical paper format ... I strongly recommend you ( if you find it ) "Advanced Programming on windows" by Jeffrey Richter.
However if you arent such an adventure man and simply want to solve the problem by now, you have to find in the msdn the documentation about: CreateFile, WriteFile and ReadFile, and SetCommConfig. They are functions of windows api. Do not forget to include <windows.h>. With those four functions and a lot of error discovering efforts you will probably success in comunicating with serial port. I have done it before in my work but i dont have the code.

Hi,
I am developing an application where I open COM2 port for communication.The code to open the port is
HANDLE hTest;
hTest = CreateFile ("COM2",GENERIC_READ | GENERIC_WRITE , 0, NULL, OPEN_EXISTING, FILE_FLAG_OVERLAPPED, NULL);
if ((hTest == NULL) || (hTest == INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE))
MessageBox ("Port cannot be opened",NULL,MB_OK);
else
MessageBox ("Port cannot be opened",NULL,MB_OK);
This code is running fine when I run the code on Windows 98 or windows 2000 but when I try to run it on Windows XP, the CreateFile statement returns 0xffffff which is INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE.
Can any one tell how can i open a port on Windows XP

See if COM2 is in the System->Device Manager. I believe I had problems opening port4 because it wasn't listed, so I had to install some drivers.
Otherwise, no idea.
