1. no sort (desc) option
2. can not select date on advanced search - the date browser has no OK button (it is a bug - my OS is win2k, english), so date from ... to ... can not be changed.
3. after doing advanced search, I go to last page because of no desc sort (total 40 pages), but year on last page is the same as first page: 2005 - date on to of from .. to ... is today, 2009.
search of the forum worked perfectly before, how does it become this style now?

The search is temporarily broken. I noticed this yesterday and I've now reported this at the suggestions forum.

not from yesterday - I dare not use search for long time - I can not find my last post before today in 20 minutes.

I don't have problems searching for posts on the forums. I'm talking specifically about article search. Further more, this has nothing to do with the C++ forum and if you face issues finding messages, etc., please use the suggestions forum for that. Do not create threads here reporting issues!

A CWebBrowser2 and a CEdit are on 2 pages of CTabCtrl of a dialog (MFC).
When user clicks different page (TAB item) of CTabCtrl, CWebBrowser2 and CEdit are shown/hidden respectively.
But whence CWebBrowser2 is hidden by its ShowWindow(SW_HIDE), it is hidden for forever and can not be shown again by its ShowWindow(SW_SHOW).
Is it something wrong in my code or CWebBrowser2 just this way - if so, any solution?
BTW: SetVisible(...) of CWebBrowser2 is not working according to my test.

i got a similar problem, and wanted to record the work around i did to acheive this. hope the OP must have got the solution for this problem by now.
i observed that, when we hide the CWebbrowser2 object, its hwnd is getting desroyed, and hence is throwing a crash, when tried to show it back.
there are two possible workarounds.
1.make its position as 0,0,0,0, using move window-to hide it. and revert its actual position back when you want to hide it.
ctlWebBrowserM.SetWindowPos(NULL,0,0,0,0,SWP_SHOWWINDOW);
2.create a pointer variable, when you wanted to show it, and display it. and then delete the pointer accordingly, when you want to hide it.

Hello,
I have created a CRichEditCtrl window with borders. When I run the application in debug mode and apply break point in the function that creates the window the border is seen on window .
But when the break point is not applied in the function the border is not seen.
I have written the following code to create the window
CRect Rect(0,20,20,40);
CRichEditCtrl::Create(WS_BORDER|WS_VISIBLE|WS_CHILD ,Rect, this,1);
What is difference when i apply breaks and I dont ?

VC has many bugs - more than our program's.
the key point is if all are fine in release version, don't worry so much about debug.
when I develop my program, I start from release, every thing is fine except it can not be run in debug from some day unknown.

hello,
thanks for your reply.
but the code that I have written appears the way I want in debug version but it is different in release version.

Hello all,
I am having this weired problem of not able to run an executable from command prompt in MFC using createprocess function. Oddly I have two cases where it runs in one case while not in other.
app1s1 - application1 on system1
Case1: This is the usual case I run this applicaiton. I have two systems each run different applications (app1s1, app1s2), while system1 runs PsExec to start the MFC application (app1s2) on system2 that I am talking about earlier and in this mode, the application (app1s2)is not able to run another MFC applicaiton (app2s2, as executable) from command prompt using CreateProcess function.
Case2: Here rather than having the other system to run the executable using PsExec, I run the MFC applicaiton(app1s2) manually and it executes app2s2 from command prompt without any problem.
Is there something that I am missing here ...
thanks,
PKNT

Why not?

, well thats what I am not getting... for now I got around this problem using WinExec.. will try using CreateProcess without command prompt and using only application name directly (that will be on Monday).

Well, aren't you calling GetLastError() to find out why?

Hello
Anyone know of a good C++ program that will convert a Julian Date/Time, both date and time to
Normal Calender Date & Time?
Thanks in advance.

The functions to do this are part of the standard run time; see here[^].

Hi,
I am writting a C++ program of FindFirstFile() and FindNextFile() function.I want to store the output from FindFirstFile() and FindNextFile() function in an array. So that i can send it using TCP Sockets.In send function it is necessary to have an array.So i want to store the output from FindFirstFile() and FindNextFile() in an array. I declare the array and use the FindFirstFIle() function as shown below
char firstfile[MAX+PATH];
firstdir=FindFileData.cFileName; //i have declare firstdir and otherdir as an array
otherdir=FindFileData.cFileName;
After all i compile the program in GCC compiler,I got the following error
ISO C++ forbids assignment of arrays
and if i complie the same program in Visual C++ compiler ,i got this error
left operand must be l-value|
but when i declear my array as firstdir[]="";
firstdir=FindFileData.cFileName; //i have declare firstdir as an array
i got following error
incompatible types in assignment of `CHAR[260]' to `char[1]'
so what is the error here? and can is it the right way to store the output in an array?
how to resolve this error?
|
|
|
|
|
it is C++ syntax error.
delete long story, re-post data type used, what is date type of firstdir and others?

Hi includeh10,
i use character array data type for firstdir.
char firstdir[]="";
firstdir=FindFileData.cFileName;
i got following error
incompatible types in assignment of `CHAR[260]' to `char[1]'
and if i declare
char firstdir[MAX_PATH];
firstdir=FindFileData.cFileName;
I got the following error
ISO C++ forbids assignment of arrays(in gcc compiler) and left operand must be l-value(in Visual C++ compiler).
please suggest me can i store the output from FindFileData.cFileName in an array.Actually its necessary to store the output in an array.

Firstly you cannot just store a string to an array, it needs to be copied from FindFileData.cFileName to some memory buffer, in order to use it later in the program. Secondly you have not allocated any space to your array so you cannot store anything in it. Thirdly your array is of the wrong type; but you knew that because the compiler told you.
I would suggest working through some basic C++ examples of using different types and arrays before tackling such an advanced project as this.

Hi Richard MacCutchan,
can you please suggest me what type of data type i should use?can i store the output from FindFirstFile() and FindNextFile() in an array?

Well you need an array of strings, or more correctly char pointers, each of which needs to be initialised to point to a buffer large enough to hold the path name returned by FindNextFile() . Then you need to copy the returned path name into the next free item in the array, and continue your loop. however you still don't know how many items you will need to store, so you also need a mechanism for expanding your array.
As I suggested in my previous post, you should spend some time getting to know arrays of simple and complex types before trying this program.

inputs any set integer from 1 to 3999 and separated by a comma then separates it then gets its average.
Example:
input: 1,2,3,8,4,6
compute its average
1+2+3+8+4+6=24
24/6=4
Output:4
...pls help
