Thx, i found the solution:
it was indeed a windows display setting.
This setting is found here:
1. Right click an empty area of your desktop.
2. Select Appearance
3. Select the Effects button
4. Place a checkmark in the "Show window contents while dragging" checkbox to enable this setting.
when you restart the application it works.

Hello!
I'm doing a project to display a 2D-view using OpenGL and MFC (C++). If let say I wish to zoom in, I wanna know where my current position is with respect to overall view.
The idea is to create one small panel that display (statically) the overall view of the graphic. On it, we wish to use a rectangular window to focus on that specific (zoom) so we know basically where we are.
Is there any website or source code where I can download and integrate it in C++?
THANKS!

Hey,
i've got a problem downloading a simple file from the internet (e.g. .html or .wmv). I thought it can't be that difficult by setting up sockets etc. But I don't get it and can't find a solution for that single problem anywhere.
I hope you can help me and post a short solution for connecting to the web and downloading a file from a given URL (e.g. http://www.google.com/index.html)
Thanks & cya,
Tyler

Thanks a lot for you quick answer. Your link is actually the exact thing, i am searching for. but the problem is, that this just doesn't work. it can only very small files (<2kb?). downloading larger files i always get an error. but even when the "Download completed successfully" the file isn't in the given place
so i don't get any further with this solution... does anybody know why it doesn't work or does anyone have a different solution?

Hello
the code below works happily
its chunks through xml returned from a stored procedure running on sql server 2000.
my problem is that the item in my recordset only ever contains the first 2033 characters of my xml.
If i call the same proc with the same paramters in query analyser it runs happily
I can't imagine whats causing this problem.
Anyone got any ideas?
is this a configuration problem?
lTotalSize = m_pRecordset->Fields->Item("XML_F52E2B61-18A1-11d1-B105-00805F49916B")->ActualSize/2;<br />
<br />
if (lTotalSize <= 0)<br />
{<br />
return false;<br />
}<br />
<br />
while (lOffset < lTotalSize)<br />
{<br />
bsChunk = m_pRecordset->Fields->GetItem("XML_F52E2B61-18A1-11d1-B105-00805F49916B")->GetChunk(lChunkSize);<br />
bsXML = bsXML + bsChunk;<br />
lOffset = lOffset + lChunkSize;<br />
}
cheers

it turns out that sql server isn't returning all the xml in one row of the recordset
so the answer is moveNext() then keep chunking.
hope this helps someone else one day, it was driving me crazy
I better explain the whole problem so google can find this post.
when using a recordset to read in a FOR XML EXPLICIT select from mssql server in vc++
the first recordset field does not contain the entire xml string, only a segment, the size of which must depend on the size of buffer set somewhere, i think in mssql.
the xml string is spread over n recordset rows
to get the next section you must move to the next record and so on.
the following code solve the problem
<br />
m_pRecordset = m_pCommand->Execute(NULL, NULL, adCmdStoredProc);<br />
<br />
while(!m_pRecordset->EndOfFile)<br />
{<br />
lOffset = 0;<br />
lTotalSize = m_pRecordset->Fields->GetItem(long(0))->ActualSize/2;
<br />
<br />
if (lTotalSize <= 0)<br />
{<br />
return false;<br />
}<br />
<br />
while (lOffset < lTotalSize)<br />
{<br />
bsChunk = m_pRecordset->Fields->GetItem(long(0))->GetChunk(lChunkSize);<br />
bsXML = bsXML + bsChunk;<br />
lOffset = lOffset + lChunkSize;<br />
}<br />
m_pRecordset->MoveNext();<br />
}<br />
m_sXML = (string)bsXML;<br />

Hi,
I have a dialog based application on which I have a tab control made of dialogs. On the tab pages I have some controls. I want to move some of these controls dynamically.
The control's start coordinates seen from the resource view are (7,3), which should be seen as left:7,top:3 from a CRect type. I see some strange behaviour with the below codes (called from CTab1Dlg class member functions):
Test 1:
CRect rect;<br />
GetDlgItem(IDC_STAT1)->GetClientRect(&rect);
GetDlgItem(IDC_STAT1)->MoveWindow(&rect);<br />
UpdateData(false);
afterwards the control moves to the left and upwards.
Test 2:
If I put this line before MoveWindow() line above, then the control still moves to left and upwards, but this time a little.
rect.OffsetRect(7,3);
Test 3:
If I change the inputs to (11,5), then the position does not change:
rect.OffsetRect(11,5);
Test 4:
If I try to get the coordinates of the tab's dialog then I get an access violation when i try to reach its members:
GetDlgItem(IDD_TAB1)->GetClientRect(&rect);
I want to shift the controls upwards and downwards dynamically. How can I get the correct initial coordinates?
thanks in advance

There is some mixing of terminology going on here.
The resource view coords (7,3) are in dialog coordinates.
The relationship between these and pixel coords varies depending
on DPI. This the big / small fonts in the display control panel.
Taking Test1:
GetDlgItem(IDC_STAT1)->GetClientRect(&rect);
This returns the client coordinates which *always* starts at (0,0)
for its top left. These are relative to IDC_STAT1.
You want:
GetDlgItem(IDC_STAT1)->GetWindowRect(&rect);
ScreenToClient (&rect);
instead.
Test2:
This shows that dialog and screen coords are not the same thing.
Test3:
You've experimentally found the result of MapDialogRect
function. But be careful. The results will change on a high resolution
screen, where someone has chosen larger fonts. This used to be rare,
but these days you can get very high res laptop displays.
Test4:
You haven't provided enough information for this.
Again, you are using GetClientRect instead of GetWindowRect / ScreenToClient.
Dies GetDlgItem (IDD_TAB1) work? Or does it return NULL?
I hope this puts you on the right path,
Iain.

In VC, Open Project->Project Settings->[Tab C/C++]
on that Tab, in Listing file type, choose Assembly with source code. This outputs the desired .asm file.
Hope this helps
