if ur application was made in release mode, U need to give only the exe.

Hi,
Is that possible to get a pointer of a class at the runtime and of course to have access to it's memeber variables ?
I need this to access the member as well as the methods of the class from a callback function.
using the following method does not seems to work :
callback.m_pDlg = (CLiveUpdateConnectionDlg*) RUNTIME_CLASS( CLiveUpdateConnectionDlg );
callback.m_pDlg->PrintMessage();

George

You need to have an instance of the class to be able to have its address. In your example, RUNTIME_CLASS is used to get informations about the class (and not a specific instance !) of the class. It returns a structure containing info about your class (its name, the size, ...)
There should be another way to get the object you try to access. If you could describe the situation you have more in detail, that could help a lot.

Thanks for your answer.
I am trying to get the OnProgress status using URLDownloadToFile. For this, I need a callback for the IBindStatusCallback interface. So, I created a thread AfxBeginThread ( downloadFile, this, THREAD_PRIORITY_NORMAL, 0, 0) that just calls the WorkerThreadProc.
UINT downloadFile(void* pv)
{
CWebUpdate* pDlg = (CWebUpdate*) pv;
pDlg->WorkerThreadProc();
return 0;
}
void CWebUpdate::WorkerThreadProc()
{
CCallback callback;
//callback.m_pDlg = ((CLiveUpdateApp*)AfxGetApp())->pTargetDlg;
callback.m_pDlg = (CLiveUpdateConnectionDlg*) RUNTIME_CLASS(CLiveUpdateConnectionDlg);
dloadResult = URLDownloadToFile(NULL, remoteFile, localFile, NULL, &callback);
//at this point the program fails to call the OnProgressUpdate which is located to a
specific Dialog.
}
The &callback is the IBindStatusCallback which calls the the Specific Dialog (which i need the instance address) to update the progress bar.

Hi
Please guide me that how to program for making a rescue disk which will detect FAT aswell as NTFS partition.
I will try to let u understand the scenario of my need..
Let I backed up of C: ( which is NTFS partition) and image is stored on D:.
Now suppose C: is crashed and OS was installed on this drive so we are no longer able to run the System.
So boot the system from bootable floopy or CD ( i.e. from Rescue Disk) and now restore the C: from the image which is on D:.
This all I want to do.
so please help me.
Thanks

Hi, everyone.
I am using ReadDirectoryChangesW(), FindFirstChangeNotification(), FindNextChangeNotification() and FindCloseChangeNotification() to watch a directory.
I would like to be notified when a file is completely copied into the directory.
I've got the way I can get the notification when the copy begins, but how do I know when it finishes?
Are there any some documents or samples that I can solve the problem?

Hi , I wrote an application orginallay at visual studio 6.0 and there was not any problem when I compile on visual studio 6.0, but when I try to build my app on vs 2003 it says me "fatal error C1010: unexpected end of file while looking for precompiled header directive". at msdn help says "Did you inadvertently delete a #include statement that referenced the .h file that /Yu is looking for?" but I did not delete any header directive.
what caused this ?
should I change any project settings.? if it is which one ?
please help ..
thank you.

Actually this is not for me....see the query from my friend.
"I have created an EXE file (my application to be executed) and I want to keep it in a shared folder on the server. Up to 60 students from any computer lab need to run this exe file simultaneously (up to 10 is working now). The only problem is that my application need to read a MS Access database file (for just 2 seconds per user). But the server is allowing just one person to access a MS Access database! This is totally unacceptable. Somebody told me that there is an add-on program which will allow multiple persons to execute an application and simultaneously read MS Access databases."
I didnt work that much with database projects except some stand alone experiments. it would be very helpful if you give some inputs to resolve this issue.
