OnPaint() belongs to CWnd and handles the WM_PAINT message, while OnDraw() belongs to CView and is virtual.

Are you clicking the run icon on the tool bar to execute or directly double clicking the .exe file?

From the docs...
"Instead of calling AfxBeginThread, you can construct a CWinThread-derived object and then call
CreateThread. This two-stage construction method is useful if you want to reuse the CWinThread
object between successive creation and terminations of thread executions."
Which is better for YOU?

Though I'm not very clear, what you are asking. What user selection you are talking about ?
You can use CWnd::SetFont for setting font.

This[^] link should help. AFAIK there are no ready made API's for this purpose. You will have to follow certain sequential steps for Updation of existing resources.
For eg:
FindResource
LoadResource
LockResource
BeginUpdateResource
UpdateResource
EndUpdateResource
FreeLibrary
