It seems that to avoid freezing the dialog, I should use a seperate thread to insert item into the list. This thread should be created and starts after the dialog has showed up. But exactly when to do it ??? I haven't got where should I put my AfxBeginThread(). (I don't want to use a timer here)

If you put the initialization code in a separate thread, you can also start it in InitDialog method, since it will not freeze the application.
However, IMHO you can keep the whole matter simpler using a one-shoot timer or a PostMessage making apparent to the user that you're performing initialization (an hourglass cursor, for instance).
If the Lord God Almighty had consulted me before embarking upon the Creation, I would have recommended something simpler.

So, where should I put my FeedFileToListControl() function ?
thread is only solution, but beware calling UI function from Worker thread bring some drastic result !

Is there some way how to correctly fire some event in WebBrowser?
I need to change selection index of <select> element but
changing selectedIndex of the IHTMLSelectElement does not fire "onchanged" event.
How can I fire this event?
Thank you.

Sounds like you need IHTMLElement3::fireEvent .

Thank you, I haven't even noticed this function (I was not checking those new interfaces ).
Unfortunately it requires IE 5.5+
I'd like my app to support at least IE 5 (I think it is shipped with Win98).
Any idea how to do this in older IE?

I'm not sure when the interface was introduced. Sorry.

I have been wondering if it is possible to set a password on a .cpp file, or perhaps an entire solution (.sln) file in MS VC++?
I will be sharing code with some other programmers and I would like to minimise the risk of a leak :P

You can put the entire Project into a .zip or .rar with Passwort protection
Not compressed, only "STORE"
At linux you have great possibilities, but VS.NET runs on Windows...

|

yes you are correct, however that would require that I rezip the files each time I wish to share them, and local copies would not be password protected.
I am looking into TortoiseSVN[^] as a mod project that some people I know have been working on also uses it, and it comes recommended, and it will also help with version tracking, however this still does not allow the ability to password protect a local copy of the files.
Looking forward to your replies!

Mmh, i never read that there exists a special module to password-protect a hole project.
Normally in a company nobody steal the code of another, because each person works on different
parts of the project.
And a version-control-system works in this way, that each programmer can download the hole commited project. If a .cpp is password-protected, the other programmers could not download the hole project and could never compile the project, that's not so cool if you wish to test your own work, if you can't debug.
And if someone needs really your code, there are so many possibilities to steal your code.

why do you want to protect the source files ?
anyway, as those are text files, you can't directly.
but you can store them on a place which access is restricted to certain users...

I have committed myself to a project (finally) and i suppose I am a bit paranoid about the whole thing. I don't want this thing to crash and burn like anything in the past, be it my fault or that of someone else.
I think I know all I needed to though - it is not possible to stick a password directly on a .cpp file. Thanks for the info guys!

if you can copy and paste your code in the Word File, then it can be one as it come with feature of password protecting your file!

If you do not trust them, don't work for them.

the idea of the passwording was not to prevent a leak from the developers, that would just be silly because they can still get around the system simply by distributing the password.
The idea was that in case a hacker managed to gain access to our systems, then they would not be able to gain access to the files.

hmm I don't know where to start there's so many things wrong with this line...
ASAP? Is that a joke? I'm pretty sure none of us work for you.
What have you tried? What isn't working?
