i did not get the first part of ur question.
anyways, here is the code to display the open dialog box.

NOTE:
this is vc++ SDK (win32) code. i dont know whether u can use the same code in vc++.net
but i think there would only be minor differences.

oh sorry,
i did not go thru ur question properly..

use the ShellExecute/ShellExecuteEx

Eg:
ShellExecute(handle, NULL, <fully_qualified_path_to_folder>, NULL, NULL, SW_SHOWNORMAL);

or

ShellExecute(handle, "open", <fully_qualified_path_to_folder>, NULL, NULL, SW_SHOWNORMAL);

To explore a folder, use:

ShellExecute(handle, "explore", <fully_qualified_path_to_folder>, NULL, NULL, SW_SHOWNORMAL);

To launch the Shell's Find utility for a directory, use:

ShellExecute(handle, "find", <fully_qualified_path_to_folder>, NULL, NULL, 0);

i am not so sure if v can use "CreateProcess()" to open folders.
if yes, use CreateProcess().

how to access a resource in an .ocx. pls help

hi,

i need to access menu (resource) stored in a .ocx file which is loaded in my application.
the purpose is to disable (gray out) a menu item in the pop up menu.
the component which is pulled into my application, has a treeview in it.
when i right click a node in the tree view, it gives me a pop up menu.
now, my problem is: i want to disable one menu item in this popup menu.

i am subclassing the components (tree control) window proc.
i am able to handle messages such as WM_RBUTTONUP/WM_CONTEXTMENU, etc.
but, to disable the menu item i need the menu handle.
how do i get the menu handle ??
i tried using HMENU hMnu = GetMenu(hWnd);
and also did a HMENU hMnuParent = GetMenu(GetParent(hWnd)); where hWnd is the tree control handle.
but, i could not get the menu handle.
how do i get this.
do i need to use the FindResource/LoadResource/LockResource set of API's ???
but, i dont know the name of the resource (menu)
then, how do i use FindResource to locate the resource ??
can someone help ??

Linker Question

I am trying to use the function, PathFileExists to check if all dependency files are existing, so that if not i could quit my application informing the user about the missing module. But it worked for the first 3 compilations. Later, the linker gives me the following error.

error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol __imp__PathFileExistsA@4
fatal error LNK2001: 1 unresolved externals
Error executing link.exe

What exctly is the problem? How would I resolve this?

I think you changed your build configuration, so you need to put it again for the linker:
shlwapi.lib

this is this.

hai everybody, i don't have much knowledge in dll creation. so i need your help. i have a VC (SDK) program, which is used to get the information from the user and it will create a cpp file and header file. now i want to create a dll or Lib file using that cpp and header file in that same program (at run time only).

For Example, i have to get the user info from the user. so my program will Generate cpp & header file. so that cpp & header file is like:

I create a modeless dialog in the application first, then create a modal dialog whoese parent is the modeless dialog, then close the application, there is an error in the modal dialog's message loop.

In my dialog,there is a CListCtrl (named m_ListCtrl) with Report style and LVS_EX_FULLROWSELECT|LVS_EX_GRIDLINES style,but there is no row:m_ListCtrl.GetItemCount=0,I move the mouse freely in my m_ListCtrl,How can I get the row-index,column-index and the rectange located by (row-index,column-index)Cthanks! Hi,

The problem I have got is, when I disable a button, by clicking on it, it still holds the appearance of having the default button indicator, i.e. it has a thin black line around it.
This results in a trapped keyboard interface.

Can someone tell me how I can lose this indicator of the disabled button, and shift it to another control.

you must shift focus to the next control in tab-order before disabling your control.

i.e.

PostMessage(hwndDlg, WM_NEXTDLGCTL, 0, FALSE);<br />
EnableWindow(hwndControl, FALSE);

GetNextDlgTabItem() will reterive ctrl id of next Dlg Ctrl ID and SetFocus api will put focus on that control

Has anyone seen code for a richTextBox that will fully justify text? Right, Left, and Center are no problem, but for some reason code for fully justifying text in a richTextBox is no where. Is it not a part of the .net framework? Sure there is MFC and Windows GDI, but no examples in MSDN. There is large amounts of information on this subject in Visual Basic and if you are coding an HTML, but nothing while programming in Windows Forms. Thanks if anyone has anything to get me started.
