The question really should be, what did you do to STOP IT from appearing on the TaskBar?
AFAIR, there is no setting in a VB6 Windows App to turn this off. You actually have to do it in code, or.....did you pick the right project type when you started the project?

To double check myself I created a new project as a Standard EXE. I added the Startup modual and the Splash and logon screens. When I run the program it should show it next to the Visual basic application that is currently running. It still will not show the application on the taskbar.
I hope this helps clarify the problem.

I think your problem is somewhere in your Startup module or Splash screen. Usually, a splash screen sets itself up so that the app doesn't appear in the taskbar until the main form is dispalyed.

I added the main form into the project I created to double check myself with. It still will not shop the application on the taskbar. The Login and Splash screen are both set to NOT show the form on the Task window. The Main form is set to show the form on the taskbar. When I minimize the main form it doesn't minimize to the Taskbar it, it minimizes onto the desktop.
Thank you,

It minimizes to the DESKTOP? Do you have some window manager or dual monitor manager installed?

The project is a standard EXE containing ten forms. It is being developed on a Windows XP Professional PC with only one flat screen monitor. The OS doesn't seem to recongnize it as a single exe application.

I still say your code is doing something to screw itself up. It's not the OS that's messing up.
Create a empty Standard .EXE project, with just a single form and no code. Run it and see if the same problem comes up.

Dave,
You are correct is was screwed up code. Another Vb guy sent me a message during the reading I found out that if you set open a form with the vbModal option the Form will not be placed in the taskbar.
So I going to have to remove the vbModal option from most of my forms.

You're launching all your forms Modal? This isn't standard practice, so that's why it never occured to me. You'd only do this for dialog boxes and other utility forms you want to have the focus in your application until the dialog is closed.

There are two parts to this. What part are you interested in: the getting the data out the database part or the displaying information in a table part? (Strictly speaking, ASP.NET only deals with the display part, it has no classes for database access as that is the responsibility of ADO.NET)
Here are some resources that will help:
* DataRepeater controls in ASP.NET[^]
* Deciding when to use the DataGrid, DataList or Repeater controls[^]
* Repeater Class[^]
* Server-side ASP.NET Data Binding, part 1[^] and part 2[^]

Hi.
How we can change the header text of the columns which r bounded from the databse
AS I donot want to show the the datafield name on the headre text of the columns in datagrid
e.g.
Dept_Code
Instead of this i want to display it as
Department Code

You could do it in your SQL SELECT statement:
SELECT Dept_Code AS [Department Code] FROM table

Windows has this built in already. What are you really trying to do? More specifications of your app would help.

Thank you

Write your .EXE in C++.
There are projects out there that can compile a .NET Framework Managed code-based app (like C# and VB.NET) into an native .EXE with that the required runtime support. They cost $,$$$ and have their limitations and restrictions.
I don't ever recommend using them...

Highlight the text in what control? TextBox, RichTextBox, ... This makes all the difference in the world.

My first preference is 'TextBox' control, but it is really helpful for me if you sent the 'RichTextBox' control also.
Thanks for your Response…

The TextBox doesn't support different fonts, or styles of fonts, in the box at the same time. You'll have to use a RichTextBox for this. Look into the .SelectionStart , .SelectionLength , and .SelectionFont properties.
You'll want to specify the SelectionStart and SelectionLength properties first, then set the SelectionFont property to how you want the selection to appear in the RTB.

Hey everyone, my name is Mike and I host and run a group in the United States called AlienX Software (www.alienxsoftware.com) the site is anything close to being done but what I'm looking for is a group of dedicated devoted developers who love what they do to be a part of the AlienX Team. Wilson and I (the other guy working on this project with me) are working on a few programs so far, and are looking to work on a lot more in the future. Projects consist of Arctic Fox (a desktop app that is designed for students high school/college that is designed to help the student in the study of chemistry. It converts chemical formula's does citations in MLA format for reports and written projects, allows you to log into AlienX for online help, the list goes on...) Media Center (not yet in development) Cam Crawl (uses a proxy to get around firewall settings, etc...). There are many more projects that we would like to start down the line but seeing as how there is only two of us. We would like more people to help out and be a part of this project, those who help get 100% credit to the source and development they produce, get there own personal staff page on AlienX, and get to work with an awesome dedicated team.
I have been looking for great developers out there and have found the best on the codeproject. I would like to state that I need more than just VB .Net developers, if your a web developer, flash developer, graphic designer, even C++ and C# developer, we need help everywhere, this site is so new google hasn't even crawled it yet. Wilson and I would really appreciate all the help we can get. Thank you everyone for taking your time to read this, sorry for the long note
If you have any questions or would like to be a part of this project please email me mclark@alienxsoftware.com
