Hi all - I have a multi line text box with scroll bars (about 500 records) and I display them in a one line text box such that I see just the one line at a time. This works ok but I want to display the last record rather than the first record so I scroll backward as the last record will usually be the one needed.
Is there a vb control that will do this eg tbDisplay.text.last or something similar?

This is easy to do with a listbox and its index properties. Is there a reason you are not using a listbox?

|

No not really - thanks for that, I will try a listbox.

Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition:
My app runs fine on my development computer, but, bombs out on the 3 other computers that I installed it on (all 3 were running Windows XP Pro). It installs OK, but, upon execution, it immediately aborts with a System.InvalidOperationException.
I inserted a MsgBox(" " command at the very beginning of the Form1_Load Subroutine, so I know that the program itself never executes.
The installs were all from CD.

Hey guys. I'm using Darryl Preen's example of a simple tabbed mdi project and it looks great, but I would like to know if someone can help me modify it to meet my needs. I'm new to programming, so if anyone can help please be specific in your explanations.
I need to only allow one instance of a tab at a time. Let's say I have a form called frmINVList and it is accessible through the menustrip. I don't want to allow more than one instance of this form at any given time. I accomplished this through declaring the form outside any events like this: Dim INVQ as new frmINVList and in the click event of the menustrip I left the code intact to show the form inside the MDI parent. The problem is after the tab is closed and the user tries to open the form again, it crashes. I get the error: ObjectDisposedException was Unhandled and in the details it says Cannot access a disposed object.
Can someone help me modify this code to allow the user to close the form and then open it again?
Thanks,
Andy

dear all,
please send me any code snippets or tutorials which describe how to generate reports using microsoft reporting service within vb express edition 2005? Thanks ...
|
|
|
|
|
Have you looked up articles on how to do this using the full Visual Studio? I would imagine it's fairly similar with the Express edition.
I've only in the last week or two used Reporting Services myself, but that was with SQL Server 2000, and there have been many changes.
Try staring here...

Howdy,
How do I get this working?
Public Function GetHwnd() As System.IntPtr Implements IPanelWindow.GetHwnd
Return CType(textOutput.GetHwnd(), System.IntPtr)
End Function
textOutput.GetHwnd() returns an Integer.
I get the following error: Value of type 'Integer' cannot be converted to 'System.IntPtr'.
Thanks!

Somthing like this I suppose, or
You could always ask desktopsidebars tech support:
support@desktopsidebar.com
Public Function GetHwnd() As System.IntPtr Implements IPanelWindow.GetHwnd
Return New IntPtr(textOutput.GetHwnd().ToInt32)
End Function
Hope that helps.

progload,
Thanks for the idea. Didn't work unfortunately.
Fortunately, another message board came through with what appears to work:
Return New System.IntPtr(textOutput.GetHwnd())
The Desktop Sidebar guys didn't have the right syntax either - they are C# guys. But I will post the solution to their message boards as well.
Thanks,
Brad

I have not tested this code but I am sure that if datetime.now.tostring("dd/MM/yyyy") will work then datetime.now.tostring("h:mm:ss tt") will also work.

There is no data type in SQL Server for storing time without a date.
When you store the time in the database it has no format at all. It's just stored as a number representing the number of days since a specific date.
Store the date and time in the database, and when you retrieve the value you can format it without the date.

I am having trouble with the EventHandler definition and the parameters to the routines. I have a datagrid with a template column. On that template column is a linkbutton. I want to simulate the click event of the linkbutton by bubbling events. It doesn't work. It goes through the code but the DataGrid onitemcommand event doesn't fire. Here's a code snippet. The DataGrid name is grdReceivingData, onitemcommand="ViewRecipientSubDetails", LinkButton commandname="view".
At class level:
Public Event Command As CommandEventHandler
Sub, function, eventhandler definitions:
For i As Integer = 0 To (grdReceivingData.Items.Count - 1)
If grdReceivingData.Items(i).Cells(0).Text = DBASUB.ToString Then
OnCommand(grdReceivingData.Items(i).Cells(4).Controls(1), New CommandEventArgs("view", String.Empty))
Exit For
Else
Exit Sub
End If
Next
Protected Overridable Sub OnCommand(ByVal e As CommandEventArgs)
Dim handler As CommandEventHandler = CType(MyBase.Events.Item("ViewRecipientSubDetails"), CommandEventHandler)
If (Not handler Is Nothing) Then
handler.Invoke(grdReceivingData.Items(0).Cells(4).Controls(1), e)
End If
MyBase.RaiseBubbleEvent(grdReceivingData.Items(0).Cells(4).Controls(1), e)
End Sub
Protected Overrides Function OnBubbleEvent(ByVal source As Object, _
ByVal e As EventArgs) As Boolean
If TypeOf e Is CommandEventArgs Then
Dim args As New DataGridCommandEventArgs(grdReceivingData.Items(0), _
grdReceivingData.Items(0).Cells(4).Controls(1), CType(e, CommandEventArgs))
MyBase.RaiseBubbleEvent(grdReceivingData, args)
Return True
End If
Return False
End Function
Public Delegate Sub CommandEventHandler(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As DataGridCommandEventArgs)

Hi everyone,
Hope someone can help me with this.
Let me describe the scenario. A person will enter his/her username and password on the program I am doing. The my program will send the username and password to other website such as yahoo.com and gmail.com, it will login, go in deeper such as the inbox and retrieve whatever data is there from the website database then return and store the information at my database. All this happens at the backend and the user see nothing of it.
My problem is that I am able to scan through the HTML and identify which is the button and textboxes but I have no idea how am I going to insert the username and password pass from the program into the website's login page and click the Submit button. The username and password is actually extracted from the local database
I have been cracking my head on this as it is my first time trying this. Your replies are well appreciated.

well no need to drill into the page at primary level. check for the form name and the textbox names and button name which will submit and do the following.. on the logon page when user enter the information and click ok. on the same page put one IFrame and inside that IFrame call the page which you want to submit . make height and width of Iframe=0 so that it will be visible false. Now when user enter the value in your textboxes. you can use java script to populate the information in the Iframe page. textboxes. and then use submit of that page. so this way you can exactly keep the track of the page and can play with that using your page..

Thanks Rizwan for replying, actually I got my program to login to the website just a while ago but I think must be the session issues that it says it is forbidden for me to access the page, so no HTML is parse back to me. The website that I need to use my program to login is not in my responsibility, it is maintain by another programmer, so my job is to create a program that suite the existing website he is doing. I wonder how Vb.NET usually deal with sessions in the web pages
