I want to create a windows service that checks the status of a task in task manager. If it isnt running then restart the application.ie; it is 'Not responding' then restart.
However I dont know how to get the status of the task. Will getprocessbyname() method work for this?
Or is there a better way?

Beat me to it!

I guess the server I was directed to, was having a lower workload thus performing faster.

That's like the third time in 3 days I was beaten to it! Once was by a few seconds, I hate it! Grrrrr

So doesn't it mean that if you've posted, say 30 messages during last 3 days, you have replied just before someone else in 90% of cases and only in 10% someone else has done that. That wouldn't be bad at all.

I have to develop an application/tool, in which one part of the form should contain web browser.(i have used web browser component ) amd other is a application like visual studio. when i press enter. i should fit inside the second half of the form.
the code which i have used simple shoots up an application and it runs a separate one.
Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click
System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe")
End Sub
can some one please tell me how to open the application inside my form and all the pop up should be within the frame..
thanks in advance..

The Process class has a MainWindowHandle property that you can use to set the Parent window to your hosting control, which should normally be a Panel control. Get the MainWindowHandle property of the Process object you just started, then you can call the Win32 function SetParent[^] to make the application window a child of the Panel window.
WARNING! Not all applications will tolerate this technique! You can run into painting problems with the application that you host!
Also, you cannot force any popup windows that the hosted application shows to show up inside your application.

Hi!
I am having problem getting a textbox value once the user clicks a 'add button' below are my codes
Protected Sub dgProdList_ItemCommand(ByVal source As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataGridCommandEventArgs) Handles dgProdList.ItemCommand
If e.CommandName = "Add" Then
Dim tbox As TextBox = CType(e.Item.FindControl("txtQty"), TextBox)
in above tbox is empty and I dont know why its empty
please help
|
|
|
|
|
Well i'm gonna assume here....
i think this is because you may have forgot about the headers in your gridview/datagrid etc..
so you need to do this...
If e.Item.ItemType <> ListItemType.Header Then
Dim tbox As TextBox = CType(e.Item.FindControl("txtQty"), TextBox)
End if
Hope this helps!

You shouldn't try to set the regional settings off the pc instead set the thread's culture setting to US language (as Mike suggested).
To do this you need to add the code to the application startupevent or before the initializecomponent methode of your main form otherwise parts off your program will not have the right setting.
System.Threading.Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture = New Globalization.CultureInfo("language goes here")
System.Threading.Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture = New Globalization.CultureInfo("language goes here")
the "language goes here" part is most likely to be "en-US" for you but I'm not sure about that.

Hi Tom
Thank You, I need help for VB 6.0.
Thanks
|
|
|
|
|
I don't program in vb6.0 so I can't help you with that.
I don't think you can do something like setting the threads culture in vb6.0 so you'll probably have to manipulate the computer regionals settings, but don't know how you would do that.

Changing the system settings to do this is extrodinarily bad practice.
If you're looking to localize your application, have a look at this[^]. VB6 is very limited when it comes to localization. I would suggest moving up to VB.NET if at all possible.
