With what? Building software? In that case, find a programmer.
You can find a sample proxy-implementation in C# here[^]. You can get help if you get stuck in the translation to VB.NET, you can get help if you don't understand a particular piece of code, etc.

You're only hope is going to be a forum dedicated to AutoCad, like the AutoDesk Support forums. Your quesiton has nothing to do with VB.NET or the .NET Framework, rather entirely to do with the introperability of AutoCad.

I am using VB.Net 2005 and the accompanying crystal report designer.
I would like to create a reports module whereby the user can view an imagelist containing thumbnails of available reports. Is there a way to actually create a thumbnail image of the crystal report (Possibly convert the Summary Info thumbnail to an image file)? Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

I don't know Crystal Report much. But I would try to 'print' the report in a bitmap, and then scale the bitmap to the desigred thumbnail size.
Hope this helps: Didi

Thank you Didi...
I am having trouble exporting the CR to anything but a handful of formats (rpt, pdf, xls, doc, rtf) so maybe that's my problem. I need to find a way to export it to an image format. If you (or anyone) has an idea about how to do that, please let me know... again... Thanks

i pretty much just need the codes/source for it.
Hope you all understand what i am trying to ask.... haha it makes sence to me lol
Thanks in advance

If you are genuinely trying to develop a keygen application, I do not think that this is the place to ask.

1. learn to spell, I worriey you don't have much education.
2. No one here will help you make a keygen, we almost all make software that we charge people for, and you're in essence asking us to make our jobs more difficult.
3. If you can't make a simple form or populate controls, forget trying to code an algorithm for generating a keygen, you fail at starting a project.
4. Go to hell.

like i said before i am not making a keygen i learnt to make applications by MAKING a keygen.... it is similar to 1.. i am making an application to select other applications, for instance:
textbox1 = selecting application type
textbox2 = selecting the applications
button1 = generating the applications
but thanks for being a big help and actually reading the posts properly. and no i am not making keygens geez i already know how to make them i dont care for them i just dont know how to link the two txtbox's together and would like to know how.

Given all your sophisticated knowledge of making keygens, you should be damn near god like status for an app with just two textboxes and a button!

Bummer. Here is just the book you need to get started with textboxes!

We don't really respond well to blatant idiocy. Beyond that, how can we take you seriously when you've battered the English language to within an inch of its punctuation?
"cos" indicates laziness, and it's an unacceptable abbreviation of the word I think you meant - "because".
"there is so many" - should be there "ARE" so many
"but I want the basic code/source for it" - a demand for source code is not an acceptable method for obtaining help.
"worrie" - "worry", dipshit...
"waist" - "waste", moron...

I a newbie to VB and trying to find out how to retrieve values from a DataGridViewComboBoxColumn. It is located in a datagrid. Have not found simple enough examples to retrieve the values from this type of control.

You get the values from the datasource you bound the DGV to, like a DataSet or DataTable object, or some other data store. How you get the data depends on the data store you used.

There's on overloaded Delete method which accepts an additional Boolean parameter. Documentation. So you can simply call
System.IO.Directory.Delete("Directory path goes here", true); . No need to loop at all

Agreed with the above 2 posters. You could also use
my.Computer.FileSystem.DeleteDirectory("c:\Temp",FileIO.DeleteDirectoryOption.DeleteAllContents)
I did a couple projects which had massive amounts of file/directory IO and the system.IO methods were faster.

Hi folks,
I am looking for a bit of guidance on the best way to structure the following code to prevent the compiler warning.
The code works and does what it should, i just don't want to have the warning message sitting there all the time.
Bascially, the code polls a database for a list of values and returns them to the caller as a list(of String).
Public Function GetPlatformList() As List(Of String)
Dim result As New List(Of String)
Dim dbCon As New OleDb.OleDbConnection(dbConnectionString)
Dim dbCMD As OleDb.OleDbCommand
Dim dbReader As OleDb.OleDbDataReader
dbCMD = New OleDb.OleDbCommand("SELECT PlatformName FROM Platforms", dbCon)
Try
dbCon.Open()
dbReader = dbCMD.ExecuteReader()
Dim HasResult As Boolean = True
Do Until Not HasResult
Do While dbReader.Read()
result.Add(dbReader.GetString(0))
Loop
HasResult = dbReader.NextResult()
Loop
Catch ex As Exception
'Error Trying
MsgBox("Error Accessing Database: " & ex.Message, MsgBoxStyle.Critical, "Database Error")
End Try
dbReader.Close()
dbCon.Close()
'Return the list of platforms
Return result
End Function
I have tried coding this different ways, and this is following the examples in MSDN etc, but i always end up with the compiler waring;
Variable 'dbReader' is used before it has been assigned a value. A null reference exception could result at runtime.
The guidance I am looking for is how to structure it in such a way as to prevent the warning.
Thanks,
dave
