Contrary to your username here at CodeProject, this is a very ambiguous question.
Are you asking how to write the code? What kind of experience do you have writing code?
Or you have written the code and are asking how to compile it into an .EXE? In VB6, go to the File Menu and select Make <myprojectname>.EXE.

Hi,
My name is Joel, i'm a brazilian programmer.

I'm using a function to make an upload with System.Net.WebClient
I need to make an upload of a xml string using the url "localhost...", but when I call the "UploadData"
method, i have a return error: The remote server returned an error: (405) Method Not Allowed.
I tried to change permissions of IIS to "read" and "write"...
I tried to create permissions of ".NET Framework Configuration" (mscorcfg.msc)...
But, I don't have sucess...
Can you help me ?
Thanks a lot,
Joel
PS: Sorry by my english... it's very bad...

Dim myWebClient As New WebClient()
Dim byteArray As Byte(), responseArray As Byte()
Dim strResponse As String
sendHttp = ""
myWebClient.Headers.Add("Content-Type", "text/xml")
byteArray = System.Text.Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(pstrXML)
responseArray = myWebClient.UploadData(pstrURL, "POST", byteArray)
strResponse = System.Text.Encoding.ASCII.GetString(responseArray)
sendHttp = strResponse

Does anyone know how to use an if statement in VB.Net to catch if a user enters a character instead of a number?
The user should only be entering numbers in a textbox and if they enter a letter, I want to catch it.
Thanks in advance

Try the keypress event from the text box as below:
Private Sub txtTitleLevel_KeyPress(ByVal sender As Object, _
ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventArgs) _
Handles txtTitleLevel.KeyPress
If (e.KeyChar >= "0" And e.KeyChar <= "9") Or _
e.KeyChar = Chr(8) Then
' Chr(8) mean backspace.
e.Handled = False ' Allow user to input numeric value.
Else
e.Handled = True ' Do not allow user to type character.
End If
End Sub

Has anyone else experienced problems with this crashing the VB6 IDE on exit?
In a couple of apps recently, we have been experiencing this intermittently...when compiled, an exception of some sort is thrown...Micro$oft site offers no advice, and Google didn't help much either....
Any ideas anyone?

Did you install any application before your computer have a problem. When VB6 IDE crash, did it display any error message. Let use know then post it to this forum. Some error are available on the internet to check it out. Try to update windows, office and vb service pack from the internet. Use windows update and office update to scan for an update or service pack.

I am trying to obtain the User description or any other property from the active directory in vb script, I have tried countless methods using LDAP but no luck.
It would also be helpful to know if there is a possible way to obtain the organisational unit that a specific user (logged on) belongs to.
Anyone's help will be greatly appreciated, Thanks

Just think about this idea:
1. Make sure that you vb.net could connect to both database.
2. If it could connect to both database then try to read (using loop) one bye one of record from the first database and save it (using loop) one by one to the second database.
Hope it is working

All your doing is copying files. What's the real question here?

Great! But, what does this mean?

This is just copying files/folders...
What more, to the specifications of this app, are you not telling us? You're going to have to spell this out with much more detail. What are the steps involved in the process you're envisioning?

I have looked through various tutorials and figured out how to get one of them working.. made a little sample with the following setup:
1) Server (console app, with console.readline() to keep the listener open)
2) Client (console app that calls the remote code)
3) Class library which is the remote vb.net code.
What I don't understand is how am I going to use Remoting to send a signal from my Windows Service to the system tray icon..(Windows form) ? When the Service becomes active I want it to send a message to the desktop (System Tray) so that the System Tray can change its icon into an 'active' mode, or I will have alittle msn like window pop up.
What I know: put the server code in the system tray project, client code in the Service.
What I need to know: When the Client calls the Remote Code, how can I get this code (which is just a class library) to pop up a window or do something as mentioned above? I couldn't get the remote code to work any other way than just a class library, is there a way to have my entire form the remote code? (I tried that but then couldn't reference it in the server because i can only reference .dll , and the .exe wasn't a proper format I guess).
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
This is the code:
Class library ###########################################
Public Class SampleRemoter : Inherits MarshalByRefObject
Public Function getUser() As String
Return Environment.MachineName
End Function
End Class
###################################################
Server###############################################
Class RemotingServer
Shared Sub Main(ByVal args() As String)
Console.WriteLine("Registering our remote object...")
RemotingConfiguration.RegisterWellKnownServiceType(GetType(SampleRemoter), "SampleRemoter", WellKnownObjectMode.SingleCall)
Console.WriteLine("Create and register a channel...")
Dim ch As New TcpServerChannel(8080)
ChannelServices.RegisterChannel(ch)
Console.Read()
End Sub
End Class
###################################################
Client ###############################################
Shared Sub Main(ByVal args() As String)
Try
Console.WriteLine("Registering Channel...")
Dim ch As New TcpClientChannel
ChannelServices.RegisterChannel(ch)
Console.WriteLine("Registering remote object in local domain...")
RemotingConfiguration.RegisterWellKnownClientType(GetType(SampleRemoter), "tcp://localhost:8080/SampleRemoter")
Console.WriteLine(" Create remote object and execute method")
Dim sr As New SampleRemoter
Dim username As String = sr.getUser()
Console.WriteLine("Machine name of remote machine = " & username)
Catch ex As Exception
Console.WriteLine(ex.ToString())
Finally
Console.Read()
End Try

I have recently begun working in a job with VB6. I am used to embedded C/C++, so there is a large learning curve for me.
What I am trying to do is make a class or module that can traverse all the controls on a form. I want a generic way to choose any given control within my code. I looked at the form methods, but cannont find anything that will return a collection of controls. The "Form.Controls" property looked promising, but would not return a collection of controls. It returns an object representing the controls. Is there any way to use this, or anything else in VB6 that would allow my to select controls within my code without knowing how many controls are on the form? Perhaps there is something visible through the tab order?
Thanks in advance,
Paul

THe .Controls collection is what your looking for. It returns the collection of contorls on the form. What's the problem your having? What do you mean by "select"? What exactly are you trying to do?
