error 1053 service does not respond dipeka15-Nov-04 23:44 dipeka 15-Nov-04 23:44  I created a service using Installshield X(type is automatic).When I try to start the service it says "Error 1053: service does not respond to start or control service". Can someone tell me the causes and possible resolutions? Thank u. I've tried using those API's but it does not work and gets error during compilation. I've also tried using InitiateSystemShutdown API but also i got error during compilation. Sun has some free versions of Solaris, though there are restrictions on what you can do with it. I think it is even legal to call Solaris Unix. Any BSD systems (netBSD, openBSD, freeBSD, etc) is a direct decendent of Unix, but by this time there is no Unix left in it, so it is no longer legal to call it Unix. At this point in time Unix does not exist except as an abstract concept. In the real world any of the above 5 (linux plus the 4 I named) are unix. But in windows xp, I not sure too how to the file that affect the picture of the windows xp that start up. But try to check this website[^]. Mayur Mahajan16-Nov-04 16:29 Mayur Mahajan 16-Nov-04 16:29  Changing or tampering NTOSKRNL.EXE to modify the bootup screen may not really be a good idea. I did end up locked off from my Win XP! So watch out. WinXP deals strictly with changed system files and will display some warnings every time this file is changed. I had this experience when I installed MacOS transformation pack. But beware that such custom packs may change quite a lot of system files and hence all your service pack updates might be rendered useless. But before to give the user name and password you have to press Control + Alt + Delete. What I ask is the dialog that you press Control + Alt + Delete have the picture of logo windows 2000. It's much easier to simply set up a single domain and use virtual directories for separate sites, since most of us don't have multiple IP addresses assigned.
