Have you clicked your way through the tree down to the USB Hubs?
In the case of my computer:
ACPI Multiprocessor PC -> Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System -> PCI Bus -> Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB2 Enhanced Host Controller -> USB Root Hub -> Generic USB Hub -> Generic USB Hub -> USB Composite Device -> USB Human Interface Device -> HID Keyboard device.
Otherwise I'm sorry if I have misunderstood your question.

No, I had not. After drilling all the way down (I was originally looking for something near the top level), it finds the devices in question. Thanks for the clarification.

I have a WML (inside vbscript) query using a WHERE clause, as in the following:
SELECT * FROM SomeClass WHERE someproperty = somevalue
The problem that I have is figuring out a way to see if the query matches or not. I cannot use the Count property (I get an invalid query error message). Is Nothing an IsNull do not work either, whether it is on the object or its Item property.
Typename on the variable returns SWbemObjectSet
|
|
|
|
|
SWbemObjectSet has the Count property. For example, this script:
Set objWMI = GetObject _
("winmgmts:root\cimv2")
Set colDisks = objWMI.ExecQuery _
("Select * From Win32_LogicalDisk " _
& "Where DeviceId = 'C:'")
WScript.Echo colDisks.Count
will return 1. Count is not accessible when you use SWbemServices.ExecQuery with the wbemFlagForwardOnly flag:
Set objWMI = GetObject _
("winmgmts:root\cimv2")
Set colDisks = objWMI.ExecQuery _
("Select * From Win32_LogicalDisk " _
& "Where DeviceId = 'C:'", , 48)
WScript.Echo colDisks.Count
This script returns this error:
SWbemObjectSet: Unspecified error
but it is difficult to guess what is wrong without seeing any code.
Is Nothing and IsNull don't help either because an empty result set is still a valid SWbemObjectSet object:
Set objWMI = GetObject _
("winmgmts:root\cimv2")
Set colDisks = objWMI.ExecQuery _
("Select * From Win32_LogicalDisk " _
& "Where DeviceId = 'Blah'")
WScript.Echo colDisks.Count
WScript.Echo TypeName(colDisks)
WScript.Echo CStr(colDisks Is Nothing)
WScript.Echo CStr(IsNull(colDisks))

There you go:
Option Explicit
Sub CreateHost (HostName, HostType, NTGroupName, AuthTrusted)
On Error Resume Next
Dim objLocator, objService, objHostSetting, objHS, objBTSHost
' Connects to local server WMI Provider BizTalk namespace
Set objLocator = Createobject ("wbemScripting.SWbemLocator")
Set objService = objLocator.ConnectServer(".", "root/MicrosoftBizTalkServer")
if err <> 0 then
wscript.echo "Error Point 1: " & Err.Description
end if
set objBTSHost = objService.ExecQuery("select * from MSBTS_Host where Name = " & HostName)
if err <> 0 then
wscript.echo "Error Point 2: " & Err.Description
end if
wscript.echo objBTSHost.Count
if err <> 0 then
wscript.echo "Error Point 3: " & Err.Description
end if
' More code after this
' ....
end Sub
On Error Resume Next
' Create a host, an instance of it, and associate.
CreateHost "MyHost", 1, "BizTalk Application Users", false
This produces the following output:
Error Point 3: Invalid query.
Thanks.

HostName seems to be a string, so try to enclose it in single quotes:
"Select * From MSBTS_Host Where Name = '" & HostName & "'"

Dear all,
I have Windows Vista Ente. 32 bit running on Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6700, 2.66 Ghz cpu, $G ram .
After joining the machine to the domain, it takes about 15 minutes for the O.S. to load, its becomming too slowwww.
Any Ideas about the problem? solutions?

So what is the machine doing during these 15 minutes? How long does it take if not a member of a domain?

Dear David,
The "Please wait" Msg is displayed the whole loading time (15 min).
If its not a member it takes about ... the usual loading time , may be seconds.

Sounds like your systems administrator has enabled Roaming Profiles[^] which causes all of your user settings, security policies and some personal files to be stored on the domain server. Each time you login it takes time for them to download. Ask your system administrator if this is the case, I could be wrong.
Best Wishes,

Hi,
Im not sure if this is the right place, but i wrote this service app that listen to a tcp connection, but cannot connect to it from a remote computer in the same local network.
I can connect to it locally from the same pc, but not in another.
I was wondering if the is any security settings, or policies in Windows that will prevent the service from receiving a connection?
Do i need special rights for the service and how do i do it?
Can someone point me to the right direction as i cant find any info after days of searching..
fyi
- the app works if not running as a service
- im using administrator account with password
- windows xp sp3
- firewall off, but will work if on if app is not run as service
- sql connection works from remote pc
Thanks

Dear All,
we develop a notebook.
Some HW design problems,DDC line disconnects; So my os(xp) or graphic driver can't get ddc informations from my display screen. So in Display Properties->setting,it didn't offer 1680*1050 resolution for user to set. By the way, The graphic chipset is intel 945, and the size of my screen is 22 inch;
now ,I want to solve this issue by program.
I use ChangeDisplaysettings to modify this resolution.
unfortunately,it failed, return "the graghics mode is not supported" message; I try to use SetDisplayMode(DirectDraw),but it also failed.
now ,I have no ideas about it . could you give me some professional helps.
thanks in advance.
best regards

It won't work unless you have the drivers for the monitor. I've got the very same problem at work and, wow, guess what solved it!

Hi Dave,
Thanks very much for your reply.
The driver for monitor? we as if haven't any drivers;
Yesterday ,I try to use intel tool(iegd-ced.exe) to make a driver for graphic; yes ,it can solve this issue, but it doesn't pass "digital signer" certification. we are notebook company ,so it is not very good for me.
best regards

thanks very much for you idea ,yeah ,intel official website told me that they have released a driver for this state. and intel support engineer told me that BIOS has disabled this option a VBIOS or INF level. I will get helps from my BIOS engineer, but what a pity ,we hadn't good processes.I'd better contacting intel again. I wish they can give me more helps. Wow,I look forward to this issue can fix ASAP.it bother me so long.

It might have something to do with the fact that the OS is 10 years out of date..?
