Where the name of the control is the ID that you gave it?
I don't know of a specific tool for this. But it sounds useful, as I never can remember the ID's I give to controls.

I manually enter any DDX mapping because my Class Wizard doesn't like my code since I map my controls to data members of pointers to CDocument classes:
DDX_Text(pDX, IDC_COLL_PRES_EDIT, m_WallData->m_CollapsePressure);
So it's always handy to have a list of Control names.

Hi,
Could you send me a printscreen of what it looks like in c# maybe? I presume you still can't do it in VC7?
It's unlikely that I'll be able to persuade my bosses to allow me to convert the mountain of code to C# just yet, it's already well overdue, so I'll just create a quick version for Windows resource files. It won't be an addin, just a separate tool where you browse for a resource file, select a dialog and you get a static image.
Maybe later I could change it to a VS AddIn. Anybody have anymore ideas?
I'm currently away at a client site in Aberdeen in Scotland, with bugger all to do in the evenings so I've decided to work on my own project.

What about some addin that autochanges for example:
[space][l][b][space] to [{]
and so on, so that one could more easily have a natural flow of writing, code without having to move the hands to the numbers.
all this shouldn't be too hard to implement, but VERY usefull.

I found a couple of macros here that do some autoformatting, but am not sure if it does what you mention. Shouldn't a macro be easier? And if an addin were to be written, I think I wrote a VS addin some time back, that basically shows how to extract ActiveDocument text and replace stuff here.

Hi Hugo,
sounds like a good idea(esp. the CP part). I'm not one of those guys who extensively use VS.NET at work. But I have written a few articles on Office addins and as far addins still use IDTExtensibility2 and stuff.
I'd be interested to know what language you are thinking of implementing it? I'd like to write a VS.NET addin as an ATL/C++ project, that also is updatable etc i.e. as per CP guidelines.

im trying to to do a language module to get synonyms of an input string.
And have decided upon using the dictionary provided by word.as creating an efficient dictionary itself seems like reinventingthe wheel.
i came upon the msth_am.lex and msth32.ll files
along with couple others too
which i believe is used by the word application for its thesaurus /spell check and other lex functions.[this too is only an assumption]
there seem to be functions exposed like
ThesaurusCheck
and
ThesaurusGetString
could anyone provide me inputs on -
1.how to use these functions?
2.is there any more efficient/simpler method to acces the word thesraus function
though i dont sem to be getting much inputs from else where including microsoft
open to any suggestions

Hey im working on making a game based off the TV show Andromeda. Its going to be done in C++ using DirectX and Win32/SDK. I need a way to display an AVI file for the opening. Any source would be great thanks for all the help again guys and gals. Please keep in mind im not using MFC and it needs to be compatible with directx thanks alot

First of all, you don't need DirectX for that. VFW does it just fine.
The DirectX SDK comes with WIN32 samples. Just pick one up (vidclip for instance).
Third solution : WindowsMedia player SDK.

There's only one dll : gdiplus.dll [^](either in your own app directory, or in system32). Download the platform SDK. The reference doc is MSDN, of course. MSDN info page here[^].

I don't know what might be wrong. I've just tried the links and everything went fine.
The GDI RTM package is only the gdiplus.dll file.
You need the headers, and .lib. Those are found with the Platform SDK core services[^].
Of course, you must enable ActiveX control in IE (required by the platform SDK update tool).

Would programming an Office addin without using Comaddins - i.e. using macros and C++ code be an interesting topic?

Soory, didn't see your post earlier. But, yes,I'm planning to write something that is a cross between a C++ COM addin, whose activation and deactivation and other stuff is rigged up to support VBScript macros. Did a project where I had to make an Outlook addin compliant with older 97/98, and the implementation is kind of interesting. So I wrote a single addin which works with everything from 97/98 to OutlookXP.

I'd love to see this.
The latest DirectShow seems to have an "MSVidCtl" control, but (from my understanding) it seems to expose TV tuner, DVD and file playback functionality only.
I simply want a scriptable control that displays a video being fed from my card's Composite or SVideo input. At this point I have my doubts MSVidCtl can even expose these inputs.
I'd convert AMCAP.EXE myself into some scriptable component (or just the relevant parts, as I don't care about video-capturing--I just want to *show* a live feed, and embed this into a local HTML file). Unfortunately my ATL/COM knowledge is severely limited at this point...

to create a virtual listview in C#. Especially if someone can get this to work with

Because i should develop a FTP software.
I did not want to use interrelated MFC class.
So i will use FTP SDK APIs,like these functions FtpFindFirstFile() etc.
But i have little experience about it.

Use WindowStation and Desktop objects, they provide virtual window stations and desktops process spaces that WILL NOT be seen from the (interactive) Task Manager.
For more info, lookup "winsta0" in MSDN.
