I created an instance of a subclass within the parent's constructor. Now in my subclass function, I would like to get the properties of the parent class in my init function. When the subclass object was created, the group property did not exist. It was only after setGroup was called, that it got set. How do I get the property group from the parent class?
parent.prototype.setGroup = function(group) {
this.group = group;
}
function parent() {
this.name = "Melanie";
this.subclassobj = new subclass();
}
var test = new parent();
test.setGroup();
subclass.prototype = new parent;
function subclass {

I tried many different ways of accessing the group property in the parent but to no avail. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi all,
I am not a proffesional web developer but do know bits a pieces. I just need quick idea to start on the following task.
Task
I want to develop a web based form having few filed and a drop down menu. The drop down menu should allow user to select any particular server on the basis of which the form will get populate (bringing all the data from the dbo to fileds).
I know sql well so that part is easy.
Know html np in creating a form.
Question
Can any one please tell me whats the best way to do it? It will be great if you could send web link or any resource to show how it works, otherwise just explain a little.

Well the "best" way is to have a professional developer do the work. Given your post I don't think that is the answer you are looking for.
As stated above this is not the "best" way, it is just one way.
1) Query the database to get the list of servers and use the results to populate the drop down menu.
2) On the click event of the menu item use the data associated to the clicked item to execute a filtered query of the database and populate the forum with the results.

What I am looking for is which technology would I use and how? For example if I use JSP or PHP. just looking for a simple code sample for,
1. connectivity to ms sql
2. How to get value selected by the user - drop down menu - what option ? mayb in jscripts it would be doc.getElementByID(..).value ---------NOT sure
3. How to send the value to db ?
4. how to populate?
In other words I am looking for a hint of code that does it. It will be great if some could send me that.

Make sure your web server supports php or asp.net
Try searching google for "Php ms sql tutorial" or "asp.net ms sql tutorial"

Hi
I want to ask if there is a way to export html sting to word document with html formatting and word page break
Here is what I am trying to do
I am trying to export mail template written in html format and is customized with customers data to word document to be printed and send to them so I need each copy of mail to be on separate page
for now I can only export data to word but it is written as plain text with html tags

I have been assigned an intranet project at work and I am having a very hard time finding a way to make my alignment work across browsers. The alignment looks as expected in IE but terrible in Firefox or Chrome etc... I thought that one of you guys that do this all the time might have a easy explanation.

I haven't tested your code, but it's a pretty safe bet to say that your layout relies on some of the rendering errors in IE to look as you expect. The page is actually rendered correctly in Firefox.
When building a cross browser layout you should build it for a browser that is not IE, after that you can tweak it to circumvent the rendering errors in IE.
So, I am afraid that the reason that the page doesn't look like you want in all the non-IE browsers is that the code simply is wrong, and there is no easy way around that.
Despite everything, the person most likely to be fooling you next is yourself.

Thank you for your response, but any help as to why this is happening would be much appreciated. A friend of mine mentioned that the colspan may have something to do with the display problems, if this is the case any suggestions as the correct way of doing this?

I don't know how you want it to look, really. When I try the code in IE7, it looks rather messy. As you pasted the ASP.NET markup code instead of the generated html code, and as I don't have the style sheet that you use, I can't really test it reliably. Do you have the page hosted somewhere where it's possible to test it?
