My question is related to Site templates in SPS 2003 and MOSS 2007. How different are they structurally? What are the different components which make up a site template for example the Team Site Template?

Hi all,

I have developed my web site using Visual Studio 2008 and Framework 3.5, but the web server where I have registered contains only framwork 2.0, I have created the web site, that interacts with class lib to fetch and store data from and to database. So, my question is if i compail all this class lib in 2008 environemt and reconstruct a new site using the 2005, will all these class lib will work with the new site in 2005 and Framework 2008?

When i tried to convert the project to Framework 2.0 by Right clicking the Project->and changed the Frame work from 3.5 to 2.0 from the drop down, i got more erros with the reversing of List<> ASSEMBLY REFERENCE MISSING, some of the namespace missing errors. How to handel this suitaion and solve the issue with in less time

Else is there any good solution with this, insted of installing Framework 3.5 in server,

Please suggest me

Registered what?

Why did you develop a 3.5 project if you are targeting a 2.0 environment? That was a mistake. Because you made that mistake you now have to deal with the problems you created for yourself.

Yes, these are the problems you created by making the previous mistake and so now you have to change your code to use the .NET 2.0 Base Class Library rather than the .NET 3.5 Base Class Library which contains classes that DO NOT EXIST in the 2.0 Base Class Library.

I presume you mean the web hosting provider only supports .net 2.0. If you have developed the website in .net 2.0 or you should have selected a provider that supports .net 3.5. There are three solutions to this
1) Go over the code and redo it for .net 2.0 compatibility
2) start from scratch in .net 2.0
3) select a service provider who supports 3.5 or install 3.5 if the service provider allows it.

Debugging ISAPI and CGI Code

Hi,

I am new to Website development, but quite experienced in CPP. Faith has forced me to have to write several CGI's and ISAPI's. Debugging is a pain though, the way I'm doing it on a small network, and very upsetting for others when it fouls! Is there any software that mimics the 'Browser-Network-Server' Connection on a single terminal.

I don't know about other platforms but on Windows I have browser, IIS and Developer tools (compiler, debugger) all on my Workstation. I can't imagine that for instance on Linux you can't set up a development server and achieve the same on that machine. If you are saying you are debugging on a production system that of course is not advisable.

I have a Browser, I run Apache 2.2. Ofcourse I have a Compiler, etc. I work in Windows XP, Not Linux. Apache runs as a Service. I have set my CGI Directory to point to the Debug Dir for the ISAPI I want to Debug.
Sofar So-Good. I cannot Start a Debugging session from the debugger though, as my code will only be called when the browser hits the server,and decides in its infinite wisdom that my code should be called.
When the server does decide so, it will call it straight, without invoking the debugger. I have tried in the past to invoke an exception, or invoke an int 3 to force a debugging section, with limited success. It typically broke out in un-commented assembler.

Maybe Apache is the wrong server for me. I am trying to write template code for a small website for laundrettes and drycleaners. No Pictures or fancy stuff, just a login procedure, and a few simple HTML Tables representing the billing status. This code is to be shipped with the main software product as an addon, so that my client's c;lients may view their bill on-line. Any Ideas?

I am having digital signatures with me installed on my computer..

And I am working in ASP.Net C# (2005 framework 2.0)

in this web application I am trying to make some pages which sign the data using the digital signature and save it on the server in either of the format .doc or excel file PowerPoint file r HTML or pdf file ...

or the data may be stored in the database (in my application db is NySQL)

and as and when require i want to retrieve those file decrypt them using the digital signature and then save them to the local machine or just to view information.....

this is the scenario I want to work on

but no ideas of digital signature trying this since 4 days on google did't find any solution...

Please Help me

Does anyone know if there is a place I can get hold of generic "website terms of use" and "privacy policy"?

Does anyone know what the legal stance is for copying someone elses privacy policy off their website? Is it in violation of copyright?

Any help would be greatly received!

Hi All,
There are two divs (See html code below), one having simple html dropdown list and another one having html textbox.
Now what we are doing here is:

We are overlapping the div containing text box over to the div containing dropdown..
Such that a user can enter his values in the text box as well as will be able to select options from dropdown,

Textbox is overlapped to dropdown so that initial value of dropbox cannot be visible to user & he can enter his keyword in text box over it..

Kindly provide me with the solution.. the code is working well in IE 7 & firefox but not in IE6..

why are you specifying the top as -ve value. This is a cause of your error. Make it +ve figue and everything will be fine.

Query Notification will be automatically created when using SqlDependency.

But,When I execute the application I get the following message in the profiler trace.

I do not know the error message you get in Firefox, but the code you posted is not the right javascript syntax, although ie does not care...

row.childeNodes(i) should be row.childNodes[i]

Resizing the div after i click on someother div

Hi,
i have already posted about div resizing problem and got the sol too.... . but i am getting a small problem...
i have two divs in my page out of that one i am resizing, it works fine but when i click on the other div and then again try to resize my previous div i am not able to do...i feel the control doesnt come there or what i am not sure...

this is a simple div:div id="example" style="position: absolute; overflow: hidden; left: 14px; width: 400; height: 200;border: 2 outset white; margin: 0; background: buttonface; color: black;padding: 2px; top: 100px;"/div;

this is the div i resize:

Hey guys, I'm new to web dev so just bare with me

I'm busy working on a website, obviously, but I've hit a bit of a snag...

At the moment its pretty simple, all its supposed to do is query the db and put the result in a text box. Now this all works on my dev machine, but as soon as i upload it to the host of the site i get the following error

How are you publishing the web site? Seems like an issue in publishing? Do you see anything in bin folder?

how to implement a global search in asp.net? something that will search the entire website including any documents that in the virtual directory...etc.

Use Ctrl+Left/Right to switch messages, Ctrl+Up/Down to switch threads, Ctrl+Shift+Left/Right to switch pages.
