I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but here it goes.
I am working with a title bar with three seperate images seperated by a 1 pixel filler image. I have all the images defined in a table to allow them to dynamically shrink/expand as the window size changes.
Somehow I've ended up with aprox. a 2 pixel space between the bottom of my images and the next table row. I've worked around this, but the bottom portion of the filler images retains a different color - should be black is actually a dark blue.
The small stripe of off color is hardly noticable but my boss has eyes like an eagle when criticing(spelling ) my work.
Thanks for any help provided.

Here is the code block for the header/logo bar if it helps
<asp:image id="imgLeftHeader" runat="server" width="219" imageurl="Images/LVCPD Header(left).png">
| | <asp:image id="imgMidHeader" runat="server" width="433" imageurl="Images/LVCPD Header(mid).png">
| | <asp:image id="imgRightHeader" runat="server" width="161" imageurl="Images/LVCPD Header(right).png">
|
for some reason the asp:images between the td tags don't show up in the post
The actual layout is much better, I swear:->

The reason for the extra pixels is that you have more than just the images in the cells. You have line breaks on both sides of the images. The line break before is usually ignored, but the line break after is interpreted as a space character (as all white space characters are in html).
When images and text are formatted together, the image is placed on the base line of the text. As a character block extends below the base line, the formatted block will be a few pixels higher than the image.

Thanks for the help, I removed the additional breaks and the image is now continuous and scalable.

I have the following menu control in my aspx page:
<form id="form1" runat="server">
<div>
<asp:Panel ID="Panel1" runat="server" Height="50px" Width="125px">
</asp:Panel>
<br />
<asp:Menu ID="Menu1" runat="server" BackColor="#E3EAEB" DynamicHorizontalOffset="2" Font-Names="Verdana" Font-Size="0.8em" ForeColor="#666666" StaticSubMenuIndent="10px">
<Items>
<asp:MenuItem Text = "Part I" Value="Part I">
<asp:MenuItem Text = "Chapter 1" Value="Chapter 1"></asp:MenuItem>
</asp:MenuItem>
<asp:MenuItem Text = "Part II" Value="Part II">
<asp:MenuItem Text = "Chapter II" Value="Chapter II" />
<asp:MenuItem Text = "Chapter III" Value="Chapter III" />
</asp:MenuItem>
</Items>
<StaticSelectedStyle BackColor="#1C5E55" />
<StaticMenuItemStyle HorizontalPadding="5px" VerticalPadding="2px" />
<DynamicHoverStyle BackColor="#666666" Font-Bold="False" ForeColor="White" />
<DynamicItemTemplate>
<%# Eval("Text") %>
</DynamicItemTemplate>
<DynamicMenuStyle BackColor="#E3EAEB" />
<DynamicSelectedStyle BackColor="#1C5E55" />
<DynamicMenuItemStyle HorizontalPadding="5px" VerticalPadding="2px" />
<StaticHoverStyle BackColor="#666666" Font-Bold="False" ForeColor="White" />
<StaticItemTemplate>
<%# Eval("Text") %>
</StaticItemTemplate>
</asp:Menu>
</div>
</form>
The menu display all the formatting (including color and font)correctly in VS 2005, but soon as I run my project in the web browser in debug mode(IE 6.0), the menu lost all of its formatting. The menu becomes a list of hyperlink buttons with blue color. I can't understand why and I have already spend several hours on this.

I found the problem and it only occurs in the master page. Here is the explanation I found on the web:
A lot of users are finding that after moving their ASP.NET 1.1 site to ASP.NET 2.0 and then adding a Menu Control to their app, the Menu doesn't work.
The reason this doesn't work is that an extra tag was added to web.config <xhtmlConformance mode="Legacy" />
This flag was meant for 2.0 to act a lot more like 1.1 and one of the major differences is the naming convention of controls.
This naming change causes the quirky behavior with Menu in IE.
There are 2 fixes for this issue:
1) Remove the xhtmlConformance tag from web.config
Personally if you can do it, I recommend this option. If you're using ASP.NET 2.0 features, you should try and stick with the new rendering modes.
2) If you can't do #1, then give your masterpage an ID
To do this, add a line to your Page_Load for your Masterpage:
public partial class MasterPage : System.Web.UI.MasterPage
{
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
this.ID = "Master1";
}
}

Hello All!
I'm new to this site. I am currently using Frontpage for our company website and would like to switch to a different software that is more programmable. I have a programming background but am out of the loop on the best software/language to use for the most features and benefits. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to CodeProject,
I just use a text editor (editpad pro) to write my website, I really don't like things like frontpage/dreamweaver.

There's always one...
I bet you do your windows coding in assembly language too...

|
|
|

not at all, C++ all the way (occasionally vb.net), just don't like gui tools for designing web pages, they are unnecessary.

And what is wrong with assembly for Windows coding??
I have written some ASM code for our app at work that speeds things up for our product. I also have a small freeware app that I had done in only assembly that I have on my site. Its not that hard but alot of people now-a-days were never taught anything about it.

You need "microsoft primary interop assemblies" . Search for that on google and download the ones that correspond to you version of Office. To do what you want, you need to have office installed on your machine(remmember that).
Now if you are familiar with VBA syntax, its easy to work with the word document model in C#. Its basically very similar to doing that in VBA.

I have a DataGrid in a web page which displays results. Now I
want to show some string contents instead of numeric values of a field.
For example I have a field "Type" with (0/1) values and I want to show
(Individual/Company) instead of (0/1) numbers.
I'm using C# .NET
Thanks.

Hi,
I am trying to get an image url to open in an IFrame based on a dropdown selection.
<br />
function displayImage(dropdown) <br />
{<br />
debugger<br />
var myIndex = dropdown.SelectedIndex ;<br />
var selValue = dropdown.options[myindex].value;<br />
<br />
}<br />
I think this will get me the selected item, now i have two problems.
The url for the image will be in an array in javascript (soon as i figure out how to populate this array when the page first loads.)
The dropdown selected index will correspond to an item in this array so i need to retrieve that URL for that image and display it in an Iframe or picture control on the page.
Why all this hassle?? because we cannot use postbacks...
Any help is appreciated
