Ok here is the solution on the ascx file the code should look like
public event EventHandler ButtClick;
protected void Button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
ButtClick(sender, e);
}
This will register a onButtCLick Event that can be wired up in the host page

Hello Freinds,

After the Search button click I should give results of the string in a data grid.But I had doubt in SQL Query. Here I am using Full text engine in SQL 2005. And the queries are FREETEXTTABLE and COTAINSTABLE.The rank differs for both.Example:Enter Keywords:I Want jobin .net,vb compnay is Microsoft
FREETEXTABLE QUERY: Select * From jobposting as posting Innerjoin Freetextable (jobposting,*,'"*I*" | "*want*" | "*job*" | "*in*" | "*.net*" | "*vb*" | "*company*" | "*is*" | "*microsoft*" ') as frees ON trees. [Key]=posting. [ID] order by Rank Desc
CONTAINSTABLE QUERY:
Select * From jobposting as posting Innerjoin Containstable (jobposting,*,'"*I*" | "*want*" | "*job*" | "*in*" | "*.net*" | "*vb*" | "*company*" | "*is*" | "*microsoft*" ') as frees ON trees. [Key]=posting. [ID] order by Rank Desc Suggest me the appropriate query for my search,

Hello,
I had doubt about multithreading concept in asp.net. I saw the examples in vb.net and asp.net, in this examples I found the use of threading is main thread runs in front end while other thread works in back end. I need to work it out in a web application in visual basic (vb).
Please give brief details about this concept and example, such as the importance of threading and how to use.
Thanking You,
Phani.

This is the wrong forum for this question.
It is also too general. You must do your own research. People here are happy to help with specific queries, but no-one is going to write you a treatise on the concepts (with example, if you please) of multi-threaded applications.

Friends pls help me to undertand the causes for IIS hang
|
|
|

Are you running .net 2.0 on your server ?
if so whenever you change the home page in the documents tab of IIS it messes up the service, thus shutting down all your sites, some kind of bug we experienced aswel , just go to your administrative tools and services and restart your "World Wide Web Publishing"(right at the bottom of list) Service.
This will fix up the stalling problem

I am using Inoa Orbix (BOA) with C++, trying to retrive / search records from the server, some times it hangs, and IIS shoud restarted
|
|
|
|
|
wont be able to help you with that dont know C++ and Orbix that well but usually the most common cause for hanging would be a loop that retrieves incredible amounts of records in a single request, (check the max request length of the web.config) or try paging your data , or sandboxing a ligter version of the code that just returns one row.
But all in there can be numerous reasons for iis hanging.

Hi Guys,
Is there a solution on how to convert TimeStamp to DateTime?
Thanks
hifiger2004
|
|
|
|
|
Why isn't this in the SQL/database forum?
To quote from SQL Server Books Online:
"The SQL Server timestamp data type has nothing to do with times or dates. SQL Server timestamps are binary numbers that indicate the relative sequence in which data modifications took place in a database. The timestamp data type was originally implemented to support the SQL Server recovery algorithms.
Never use timestamp columns in keys, especially primary keys, because the timestamp value changes every time the row is modified."

Yes, I actually read the mssql help file and it says that its the same as the rowversion. Microsoft shouldn't named it to timestamp. It could be something like "rowstampid" or something. Because in Oracle the timestamp can be converted to datetime.
Anyway, thanks for the answer.

Hey all,
This may be a silly question, but I haven't found a clear answer anywhere yet.
I want to start using Ajax on my on-line shop, in my dev environment I have installed all the necessary bits and it works fine. I'm using Visual Studio 2005 Pro and targeting .net 2.0 with Ajax 1.0.
We don't have the Ajax extensions installed on the server yet, and we're looking at upgrading to .net 3.5 in the very near future and using Visual Studio 2008.
If we just install .net 3.5 framework on the server, will I be able to use my .net 2.0 Ajax 1.0 site with the extensions included in 3.5?
or do I need to install Ajax 1.0 on the server then install .net 3.5 over the top, is it even possible to use both at the same time? (I'm new to Ajax if you can't tell...)
Is it worth just waiting for Visual Studio 2008 to arrive and upgrading the site to .net 3.5 and just installing that framework instead of faffing around with different versions?
Cheers for any input / advice

You question has nothing to do with Ajax but is specific to the products you are working with. I suggest you read the installation and compatibility information for the products to find the answers to your questions.

Hi I run the same scenario will be able to help
If you would like ajax for your .net 2 applications you need to install the extensions on your server - no restart needed and it will work 100% , The ajax extensions installed on 3.5 is for 3.5 alone and not 2;
.NET 3.5 works 100% with all other versions of .net and does not cause any compatibility issues since to use .net 3.5 the web.config for the application uses .net3 settings.
I suggest you install .net 3.5 SP1 on your server (lots of improvements and stability) and unlike the previous versions of of .net 3.5 does not need you to run the aspnet_regiis /i command to be able to recognize the framework.

That's excellent,
I had just managed to find a blog suggesting similar so that's great to have it backed up with someone who's had solid experience with it.
Thanks very much for your reply.

Just a quicky..
I take it I don't need to install .net 3.0 on the server before 3.5?
and can I just download and install the .net 3.5 SP1 or do I need 3.5 on its own first?
Sorry, just need to get it right first time as I don't have access to a test server, this is going on to our internal app server...
Thanks in advance..

Install from this location
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=AB99342F-5D1A-413D-8319-81DA479AB0D7&displaylang=en
This is a 2mb file that will check you current configuration and will download install accordingly, just note that this install infact will require you to restart
all your other ajax resources you can find at http://ajax.asp.net
Hope this helps

Excellent stuff,
I was hoping that would be the case, I was just trying to make sense of the documentation for it..
Thank you very much

Most of the documentations is a heap is nonsensical gibberish and sometimes we just need a direct straight yes or no with some tips.
But the move to .net 3.5 is a big and very good one , refer to some samples in http://www.asp.net/learn They have videos and samples that quickly helps you get clued up on .net 3.5 . I used it to get familiar with LINQ , and now database coding takes me half the time it would normally take, the linq syntax will just take a while to get used to but after a day of using linq you'll understand what a joy it is to code.
If you are also into mapping look into the windows live toolkit downloadable from www.microsoft.com/express it has a incredibly powerfull mapping tool for .net 3.5 apps

good day all
function LoadField()
{
var MergeField = $find("<%=cboMergeField.SelectedValue.Text%>");
}
how do i write a function in javascript that stores the selected value of a combo box, like on my code above, i want to store the value of the combobox cbomergefield.
|
|
|
|
|
You're not being very clear. AFAIK there is no such thing as a combo box in web development - not using the standard tools, anyway.
And when you say you want to "store" the selected value, what do you mean? Store where? or do you simply mean you want o return it, or assign it to a variable?
If this latter, and you mean a listbox/dropdown as opposed to a combobox, you can use code along these lines:
var lst = document.getElementById("cboMergeField"); // variable assigned to control
var i = lst.selectedIndex; // for the selectedIndex
var n = lst.options[i].value; // for the selected value
