still trying to catch up on WPF and silverlight, just wondering if I can write on set of XAML for WPF windows client sever app, and use that same XAML to port that application to a web application? Is that the idea behind XAML? That you only need to define user interface ONCE using xaml, and you can render it to both windows client app + (WPF Browser app) web app version?
Thanks!

My current website uses PHP. I'm re-creating it using ASP.Net (2.0). I've got the page displaying correctly under FireFox, but IE6 is hosing up the layout. Here's a link to the site:
Paddedwall.org (for .Net)[^]
Under IE6, the following visual elements are "wrong":
0) The header text that shows up on the right side under FireFox isn't displayed at all under IE6.
1) The size of the <h1> text is significantly larger under IE6 (FireFox is showing the desired size).
2) The content panel (the one with the white background) is fine in FireFox, but in IE6, it extends all the way to the bottom of the browser window, and the footer panel is being shown on top of it.
Can someone help me figure out what the hell I've done here?
BTW, I haven't tried this under Opera yet, but I'm off to download it right now.
[EDIT] It looks fine in Opera.
[EDIT] I figured out the font size problem in the <h1> tags.

I checked you page and found all the content placed on the page is in div tags.
Behaviour of div tags differ in browsers
Suggest you to use table tag for placing page content.

Ummmm, no, that's not an option...

Quote Selected Text
The behaviour of div tags between browsers is much more consistent than the behaviour of tables...
Don't use tables for layout[^]

The header problem:
You've fixed the width of the page at 950px, and sized the floating boxes contained therein at 400px and 550px. However, the quote box contained in the left floating box is sized at 100% + 3px of left padding - putting the width at 403px. IE then overrides the set width of the outer box, making it 403px as well. Since both boxes float, this forces the right box to wrap; since the header is styled with overflow:hidden, the wrapped box disappears.
Potential header solutions:
- Change the
width style in the HeaderQuoteBox rule to auto (instead of 100% ) - will then become only as wide as its parent allows (400px). - Remove the
float and width styles from the rule for HeaderRight . This will put the right box back into the normal flow, letting the left box float to its left. - Add
overflow: hidden; style to the rule for HeaderLeft . This will cut 3px off of the 403px width of the inner box, allowing both floating boxes to appear on the same line (but potentially cutting off content in the HeaderLeft box). The scrolling content panel problem:
You're positioning the PageContent div using absolute top and bottom coordinates. This works great in every browser that isn't IE6... But IE6 decides the two positions conflict, and ignores one. This particular bit of IE madness is well-documented, and a good workaround (using IE's expression feature) can be found on A List Apart[^].
The scrolling content panel solution:
Add the following code to your page to patch up IE6:
<!--[if lt IE 7]>
<style type="text/css">
#PageContent
{
height:expression(document.body.clientHeight-144-24-10-2);
}
</style>
<![endif]-->

Hi,
I am getting base64 text and i want to generate a png image from it. Can anyone please suggest me a good encoder or decode for the same. If anyone knows how to go about with yhis then plz help. The coding for the application is done using VB(using COM) and ASP. So any encoder or decoder making use of VB will be more useful. Plz provide me the details of the links if any.
Regards,

Hi,
does the base64-text contains the bytes of a png? If yes, then just convert the string with the Convert.FromBase64String into a byte-array, put these into a memorystream and load the image using the Image.FromStream() where you pass the memorystream.
Does this help you?
Regards
Sebastian

Could you be so kind to describe exactly what you want to do? As I see it, the posted answers should enable you to write your own tool (not more than 10 loc).

Thankyou Navaneeth but it didn't met my requirement

It's a requirement that you'll need to investigate yourself. Navaneeth pointed you in the direction of the meaning of a 400 error - you need to figure out why it's appearing on your site. This is not something that we can help you with given the very limited information. Look at how your server is setup and if it is actually working first.

Hi,
I created web service using C# which consumes one image file(.TIFF format) having 3-4 pages,
It converts that file into binary , and put to one destination folder.
I was able to see that file in destination folder.
But when I opened that file, i could see only 1st page of image file, not other pages.
Can you please provide me solution of this problem???
Thanks.

You should probably explain first how you're reading, saving, and then opening it, in sufficient detail for someone to do more than make wild guesses at what's going on. You should definitely do this in the C#, .NET Framework, or Graphics forums instead of here (this forum is for web dev questions).

The link button looks like this
<asp:linkbutton runat="server" id="CreateButton" causesvalidation="true" text="Submit" xmlns:asp="#unknown">
ValidationGroup="NewUserForm"
OnClick="CreateButton_Click" />
its a user profile form with all validators , the validations work well but the button wont fire
rather causes the page to scroll to top.
tried with __doPostBack(buttonID,"OnClick") kind of stuff too but same problem
Please help out with a clue
Thanks & Regards

Sounds like you either have JavaScript disabled in your browser, or there's an error in the script somewhere. Check for both.
And you might have more luck asking this in the ASP.NET forum.
---- You're right.
These facts that you've laid out totally contradict the wild ramblings that I pulled off the back of cornflakes packets .

I need to know two things:
1. How to work on a single website with multiple developers?
2. How to deploy the SharePoint website or webapplication on production server or client machine?
Do anybody know some answer or some links which can help me?
