You will need a line like this:
response.ContentType = "image/jpeg";
for the browser to offer to save as.
The "image/jpeg" might be "application/pdf". Dont know for sure.

I found this command debugger in an article about setting a break point in an aspx html page. Since I found other ... commands. I've been trying to find the complete list of commands with no luck.
Does any one know where I might find a list?

Hi folks,
Probably something trivial, but I cannot figure out how to do this the easy way! I have a div of a certain width with therein a table with three columns. I can give the leftmost column a fixed width, since I know I will be putting images in there with a maximum width. The middle column and the rightmost column contain texts. I want the middle column to be sized automatically according to the size of the text in there (still: no problem) However, I want then the rightmost column to take-up the rest of the available space in the relevant div. Now, if I make the table 100% wide, the browser will equally divide the remaining space over the middle and the rightmost columns, which is what I do not want to happen. I want that rightmost column to consume the rest of the space, since I give the rows different background colors (alternating colors to make up a neat table) and it looks good if the rows stretch frmo left to right in the available space.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
William

Hi,
I've got a little bit of a problem here...long story short, there is a status field on one of our ASP.NET pages(C#) that needs to display a warning to the user if it is set to 'Inactive' because that status has further implications. I inherited this code, and I've never seen javascript formed this way. Here's what it looks like:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
var statusVal = $(this).val();
if (statusVal == "Inactive") {
var answer = confirm("Changing the status to Inactive will change the status of all associated users to inactive as well");
if(!answer) {
var status = document.getElementById('AgencyStatus');
status.value = "Active";
return false;
}
}
});
});
</script>
...The call to "status.value = "Active" is failing. I'm working in Visual Studio 2008, and Intellisense provides all available properties of the element, and "value" is not an available property. What gives? How else should I set the value?
/*This code was generated by a Tool...his name is Dave*/

Hmmm... The first confusing bit is this line:
Alaric_ wrote: var statusVal = $(this).val();
This would appear to be retrieving the value attribute of the document - which should not exist. Given that, i'm unsure of how the rest of the code would ever even execute...
As for:
Alaric_ wrote: var status = document.getElementById('AgencyStatus');
status.value = "Active";
What sort of an element is AgencyStatus ?

oh...excuse me lol....kind of important. AgencyStatus is a DropDownList
/*This code was generated by a Tool...his name is Dave*/

Alaric_ wrote: AgencyStatus is a DropDownList
That explains it then - you can't modify the value of a <select> element by assigning a value to value . Try this:
$('#AgencyStatus').val("Active");
That will select an option within the select element which has a value attribute (NOT text content!) equal to "Active" . So be sure that you're assigning such a value to one of the option s.

|
|
|
|
Hmm...that didn't seem to work. The valid status values are "Active" and "Inactive", so there shouldn't have been an issue with trying to include the line that you provided. Any help?

Take a look at the HTML that is being generated for the select list. Should look something like this:
<select id="AgencyStatus" size="1">
<option value="Active">Active</option>
<option value="Inactive">Inactive</option>
</select>
...if it doesn't, you'll need to adjust your logic.

Shog, do you have any references to the $(this) $(document) usage? My searching is only finding references to dollar sign being a valid identifier character.

Thanks dude. Guess I'll go read on that some. Don't know the first thing about it.
One of the critical concepts in any jQuery code is the so called '$' function. '$' is actually an 'alias' for the 'jQuery' namespace.
Thanks again

Hi
I have an asp panel. I am dynamically adding some html tables with 3 rows and columns to it. When the output is shown, the table doesn't fit the panel correctly. It crosses the bottom boundary of the panel. How to solve this?
My panel size is 100 * 100
But depending upon the images in the table, the size of panel changes.
My code is
----------------
System.Web.UI.WebControls.Panel Panel1;
HtmlTable table = new HtmlTable();
-
-
-
-
-
table.Height = "100%";
table.Width = "100%";
Panel1.Controls.Add(table);
-----------------------------------
thanks in advance

Hi All,
In our project, we print shipment lables.When the PDF shipment labels get printed the shipment labels become too small. Please let me know if there is a way to control the size of the PDF shipment labels when they are printed. When viewed they look fine but when printed , they look very small.The goal is make the PDF shipment labels larger when they are printed.

1. With respect to the above subject matter, would appreciate if someone could help me out with this.
2. My OS is Win XP+SP2 . Have searched the net for the same, but i guess this combination does not hold true for either VS2008 OR for Win XP SP2.
Thx in advance.

Basically, you may use the wss Lists webservice
or
by using the sdk, you may use something like:
SPList list = site.Lists("LISTNAME");
SPFolder docLib=list.RootFolder;
docLib.Files.Add("FILENAME", FILESTREAM, null, true);

Hello there,
I have recently got web space which unfortunately does not support server side Java and I want to use Java with JSPs to construct an application.
My problem is the compiling of the JSP files, which as far as I understand need a compiler such as Tomcat to output correctly to screen. When I access a *.jsp file with HTML code within it then I literally just get the code with the HTML tags in my browser.
Is there a way around this or any similiar alternatives that could help me out other than changing my web space and sticking with Java and JSP?
Any help with this is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
G.

So you want to write server side code, but you have a hosting solution that doesn't support the language that you want to write in. Get a new hosting solution...
