Hi,
i have a timer image that makes background opaque/ non clikable.
Now i have a close image in a div that has z index higher than the background page to stop the processing. My problem is that even the image is disabled & the click event is not fired... how can i achieve the same??
Code block:-
<div id="updateProgressDiv" class="updateProgress" style="display:none">
<div align="center" style="position:relative">
<img alt="Processing...." src="loading.gif" style="position:relative;width:40;height:40;margin-top:53px;z-index:10001"/>
<span class="updateProgressMessage">Processing your request...<br />Please wait.....</span><br />
<div id="div2" align="right" style="position:relative;z-index:10001">
<asp:Image ID="img2" runat="server" ImageUrl="~/close.gif"/>
</div>
</div>
</div>
Appreciate help in this regard ...
Thx in advance..
Regards,
Yogesh

i don't really know c# - but it their an option to add "_blank" as a 'target' argument?
|
|
|
|
|
alternatively - a simpler solution (addmittedly not as seamless) would be to add a page on your website that directs the to a new window using a hyperlink with
target="_blank"
or using javascript to dynamically pop an new window??

I have been trying to react a horizontal dropdown menu using nothing but CSS. I have checked CSSPlay - and have one working - sort-of. I can't seem to get it to work exactly like I want. Any suggestions as to where to go for help?
Thanks!

w3schools have good css tutorials.
Google for specific questions. There are millions of sites on css.
If you are using javascript and haven't thought of it already, bear in mind that some users have javascript switched off and you can make dropdown menus using pure css & html.

Thanks - I HAVE Googled CSS - I am looking at creating CSS menus without Javascript -so in answer to your reference about some users have javascript turned off - I am aware of that and THAT is why I am looking for GOOD tutorials about complete CSS menus! Thanks for the referral to w3schools - I've been there. The problem I am having is that there aren't any tutorials that go into the horizontal menu with a dropdown, that I can find that are easily customizable.
I can find a TON of stuff on a single layer horizontal menu, and have found plenty of stuff (mostly from Stu Nichols sites, thank you!) on creating the dropdowns - the problem I am having is in customizing the menus. Every time I try to customize the CSS to meet my needs - it screws up the menu format. So I need to learn HOW to do the customization. If you have any recommendations for tutorials that show how to do a completely CSS horizontal menu with dropdowns, I would certainly appreciate it! Thank you.

the adobe spry framework has a good javascript based menubar which I use regularly. Highly customisableusing css. js is harder to edit. Otherwise, I suggest you look up jQuery. Or plug away at a pure css version.

"Or plug away at a pure css version"
That's the idea, and why I was asking if anyone had a reference for a good site for PURE CSS menu tutorials...

Good People,
What is the best strategy to enable a software user authentication? Essentially, I have an app (desktop) that I have developed that will be sold. However, I need to ensure that the user has purchased a legal copy.
Are there some good third party products that do this? What is the best strategy to prevent the user from just giving their authentication code to another user?
Finally, for a desktop application, what's the best way to facilitate password help if the user looses their password?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

This problem can be as big or ass little as you want it to be - but the simple fact is someone probably find a way to crack your software. However, there a several things you can do to minimise the impact of this. You will need to look into ways of encrypting the data in your application and webpage. Particularly encrypting data on one and decrypting on the other.
1. Subscriptions.
Your program generates a code, users type it into a web page and are given an automatically generated code that they enter back into their desktop software - thus unlocking it. Make sure they have to do this every year. When a code expires the software should become locked(reduced/no usability).
2. Microsoft style Serial #
Give them a serial with the product that can only be used say 25 times. Users are much less likely to give out the software and serial code.
3. Provide the body of the software for free / low price and charge for the rest of the software as add-ons. This process has to be simple for the user. See eclipse's update process in it's help menu for a good example.
4. Release demo versions as torrents.
Stop pirated copies being downloaded by putting demo versions up instead.
5. Phone activation only - require a name address and serial - this will allow you to check software legality. Users should be aware that you may ask them questions regarding the last place it was installed. For example, if they tried to unlock the software twice in one day - you could ask them how many times the software has been unlocked - or the ip address of the network it was last unlocked on or something.
6. Free software
Give the software away for free - charge for support
7. Prevent software being unlocked more than twice in a week.
Make sure if there are any restrictions, you tell the users and you also have the ability to unlock the software remotely if needs be.
------
FORGOTTEN PASSWORDS:
Your web app should keep their email on file and when they forget their password they should be able to request it to be sent to this email address. They should also be able to change their email address of they call.
Never try to manage forgotten passwords manually. It's a bad idea.

I've spent two days trying to get my web page to communicate with my garmin, per there examples.
Hello world ought to be real simple but there's obviously something I'm missing
They say this should work;
<script type="text/javascript">
function load() {
var display = new Garmin.DeviceDisplay("garminDisplay", {
pathKeyPairsArray: ["http://www.JaxCoder.com","3a2cf9e7b7e3b5aceab0963b14c10079"],
showReadDataElement: true,
showReadGoogleMap: true,
showProgressBar: true,
showReadTracksSelect: true,
showReadWaypointsSelect: true,
showFindDevicesElement: true,
autoFindDevices: true
});
}
</script>
<body onload="load()">
<h2>
Read Tracks/Waypoints with Google Map</h2>
<div id="garminDisplay" style="height: 400px" />
I browsed there stuff and added;
<script type="text/javascript" src="Scripts/prototype.js"> </script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="Scripts/GarminDeviceDisplay.js"> </script>
but I'll be danged if I can't figure out what the heck is going on!
Any help appreciated,
Mike

2/3 of the links are broken and 2/3 of the questions unanswered. Sorry is not quite the word I'm looking for maybe useless?
There examples work but when I plug them into my stuff they don't.
I guess y main question is if anyone knows if this will run on an asp page? Or any things that need to be done initially to get it up and going.
CodeProject was mu last resort just thought maybe someone had worked with this and would provide a little insite.
Thanks,
Mike

No I have not done any work with it.
I doubt you will get any response in this forum. What I would suggest is, ask general "non programming question" in the lounge. I know it is a programming question, but instead of asking for help in the code, you can ask in generality if any one has done any work with it. That may result in better response
Good Luck

I had thought of that. I wouldn't even be asking here if it wasn't as a last resort I just don't know what else to do. I even got a VM going with XP Pro thinking it might have been something with windows 7 (which I'm running as my primary OS) and IIS 7 which I know little about. That proved unhelpful also.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Everybody,
We use Sharepoint in our companies Intranet. I'm trying to build a business dashboard in sharepoint which would fetch information by consuming a web service. Does anyone have any experience with this and can point me in the right direction.
I've worked with .NET but my knowledge of Sharepoint is zilch, nada, null.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Mridang,
This is not the best station to wait for Sharepoint answers. Well, Sharepoint dashboard displays all Bussiness Intelligence informations like SSRS Reports, KPIS etc. I am sharing a link that can tell you how can you create a sharepoint dashborads dynamically. So have a look at it:
http://ayman-elhattab.blogspot.com/2008/08/create-scorecard-and-dashboard.html
If you can ellaborate a bit on why and you are going to use the web service for dash boards.
Either you love IT or leave IT...

Hi all,
I have never posted here. I'm a web designer in Tennessee. I'm working on a project that I've had the same problem for the last 2 days of trying every workaround I can find or think of.
Here is what I need:
A background image (which is the body background right now)which is repeatable with a CENTERED background image on top of it that is of fixed width and not repeatable which I can lay images and flash on top of, as well as links.
Here is what I've tried:
1.)Using a CSS to style the HTML as a background. For some reason this gives me a blank page.
2.) Using nested DIV's to create the body as a background and then the image on top.
This has been the best option but so far I have tried everything to get the top image to CENTER, and it will not work.
3.) Putting the bottom image on the body and creating a table over it with the top image as the table background. This works okay, but it is not very easy to do the other things I need to do.
Here's the link to the code I'm currently using. What am I doing wrong? Why won't the top image CENTER? www.theriveroverlook.com/TestPage2
Here's a link to what I WANT it to look like, (www.theriveroverlook.com) but this is just using the background as the image and I can't properly write over it and put images on top.
I know this is not just my problem, and supposedly getting fixed in CSS3. Can anyone help me? I've been banging my head against the wall for days.

Hi,
I am generating HTML Content of mail at runtime from my asp page. Everything works fine. Except for some links and in tags. "!" creep in to the HTML tag from somewhere in the Email Message. I have no idea where this character is coming from. It is showing some links like
If i save the generated the HTML code in text file and Preview it is displaying properly. Problem occurs only when the mail is received by the client

Have you tried debugging and seeing where things go wrong. That should be your first step.

I copied the entire HTML Code generated and pasted in a text file and created an HTML file and everything works fine. The same thing works on my local server also. But the problem occurs only when i run the same from my Live Server using CDO.

Well, if the characters are in the file then I can only assume that your application is doing it, so back to my original sugestion, try debugging. How HTML displays is entirely down to the browser, some are less picky than others.
Have you actually examined the data in say notepad to see if the characters are there? If they are, then its your application doing it, it will not be done by magic.

I know this might sound like a long shot but I still would like to know,
Is there a way I can create a aspx page in a library(that gets compiled into a dll) using visual studio, and then load that page from another asp.net page ?
Thanx for any advice or help
