It's been a while since I've done much html, though my initial thought is that this could be done with 6 images and some css.
You'd use 3 images for each state, a left a middle and a right. You simply repeat the middle image for the required width (which could be determined from the _text_ label hat the button would have - also helps make your site more easily ably to be translated, since the button text can be translated also)
It's a little messy, and could do with some better sizing of the left/right sides of the tab. Though this is what I mean above:
<html>
<head>
<style>
.tableft{
background-image: url(left1.png);
padding-left: 8px;
}
.tabright{
background-image: url(right1.png);
padding-right: 8px;
}
.tabmid{
color: red;
background-image: url(middle1.png);
padding: 0 5 0 5;
}
.tabCont:hover .tableft{
background-image: url(left2.png);
}
.tabCont:hover .tabmid{
background-image: url(middle2.png);
color: white;
}
.tabCont:hover .tabright{
background-image: url(right2.png);
}
</style>
</head>
<body>
<span class=tabCont><span class=tableft> </span><span class=tabmid>Tab1</span><span class=tabright> </span></span>
<span class=tabCont><span class=tableft> </span><span class=tabmid>Tab2</span><span class=tabright> </span></span>
</body>
</html>
The images i have used are 14x25, 1x25, 14x25 - quite small and manageble...

Okay, I don't know if this is more of a CSS or HTML question but I'm having issues with my navigation bar scrolling horizontally when the browser window is too small. I have my navigation bar on a separate layer from the rest of my web-page and have it in a fixed position. The only issue that I know is left is that if the user has their browser set to smaller dimensions than the webpage the navigation bar moves as they scroll horizontally. I'm trying to stop it from moving on the X-axis and only along the Y-axis.

I think you may set property Overflow of to Hidden like
<div style='overflow:hidden'>
</div>

This didn't fix the direct issue, but it did completely remove horizontal scrolling. This may be usable if I can get the template to resize with resizing the screen, but due to my current code and images probably won't work.

I would like to create a news website, preferably but not necessarily .NET based. I don't want to open a new project in VS and start from scratch, I would like to use some CMS system to create it. It would be very nice if you could direct me to a place where I can find a complete cms skeleton for a general news site which I can customize and launch as soon as possible. I Googled but couldn't find what I am looking for so I thought I could use some help.
Any ideas? Thank you

I've already installed it and bought a book covering DNN applications development. How long does it usually take to build a basic news site using your software?

You can get a skeleton website up in 30 minutes, then spend 3 months looking for skins, there are that many to choose from. If you want to skin it yourself then, less than a week.

Sounds very nice. Thank you for your reply It seems that I am gonna use DNN

Hi all! I am uploading some documents to my website. I noticed when a file has a size that exceeds 5MB, the file automatically deletes from the chosen directory but those documents of smaller size remain. What's causing this and how can I solve the problem? Please help.
|
|

Ask your server admin. The most likely reason is that they have set a file upload size limit of 5MB or thereabouts. If that's not the problem, get them to look in the server logs to see what's going on.
Cheers,

This is not something that ASP.NET provides, there have to be some local policies on your server. Get in touch with your IT guy. Only he can help you.
All the best.

Sorry, not sure where to post this, when I was doing C# development, the forum seemed to cover everything where the website stuff seem to be quite subdivided.
Hello I am trying to validate a form that has many field on it.
input type="text" name="sSoftwareType"
input type="text" name="sSoftwareName"
input type="file" name="sFileName"
The form itself validates itself by
form enctype="multipart/form-data" name="Software" action="SoftwareUpdate.php" method="post" onSubmit="return Validate(this);
The JavaScript validation code is
function Validate(f)
{
if (f.sSoftwareType.value == "")
{
f.sSoftwareType.focus();
return false;
}
if (f.sSoftwareName.value == "")
{
f.sSoftwareName.focus();
return false;
}
if (f.sFileName.value == "")
{
f.sFileName.focus();
return false;
}
}
All the input type text are validated fine, the problem is that the filename does not get validated, it is simply ignored.
All I want to do is verify that the file information was selected. ie the user did do a browse and click on a file that gets the data filled in on the form.
It would be nice to do other validation, but I would be happy if I could get help on this basic function.
Thank you in advance

Hi,
Use this below
if (f.sFileName.value.length> 0)

Working around in some XAML lately and have come across some odd stuff in the way commented code seems to be handled, or rather actually, not handled.
Note: Apparently writing XAML code in the editor is a PITA to get it formatted looking well so you may have to look at my examples a bit...
Just being able to add some typical comments inside some basic XAML looks like so:
<!-- Name Portion [Application Name] -->
<Border x:Name="BrandingBorder" Style="{StaticResource BrandingBorderStyle}">
<StackPanel x:Name="BrandingStackPanel" Style="{StaticResource BrandingStackPanelStyle}">
<!-- Logo Picture -->
<ContentControl Style="{StaticResource LogoIcon}"/>
<!-- Logo Name -->
<TextBlock x:Name="ApplicationNameTextBlock" Style="{StaticResource ApplicationNameStyle}" Text="Application Title Name"/>
</StackPanel>
</Border>
So now, I want to comment out my code as a whole and I try to just wrap my start and end tag inside of its own set of XML comment tags and I get:
<!-- Name Portion [Application Name] -->
<!--
<Border x:Name="BrandingBorder" Style="{StaticResource BrandingBorderStyle}">;
<StackPanel x:Name="BrandingStackPanel" Style="{StaticResource BrandingStackPanelStyle}">;
<!-- Logo Picture -->
<ContentControl Style="{StaticResource LogoIcon}"/>
<!-- Logo Name -->
<TextBlock x:Name="ApplicationNameTextBlock" Style="{StaticResource ApplicationNameStyle}" Text="Application Title Name"/>
</StackPanel>
</Border>
-->
Error = Comments cannot contain two adjacent hyphens '--', Two adjacent hyphens '--' must be followed by a close angle bracket character '>' to terminate the comment.
This however is just fine apparently:
<!-- Name Portion [Application Name] -->
<!--
<Border x:Name="BrandingBorder" Style="{StaticResource BrandingBorderStyle}">
<StackPanel x:Name="BrandingStackPanel" Style="{StaticResource BrandingStackPanelStyle}">
<ContentControl Style="{StaticResource LogoIcon}">
<TextBlock x:Name="ApplicationNameTextBlock" Style="{StaticResource ApplicationNameStyle}" Text="Application Title Name"/>
<StackPanel>
</Border>
-->
It just seems really odd that the editor seems to have such an issue with the commenting stuff when you are using multiple comment lines:
<!-- Name Portion [Application Name] -->
<!-- <Border x:Name="BrandingBorder" Style="{StaticResource BrandingBorderStyle}"> -->
<!-- <StackPanel x:Name="BrandingStackPanel" Style="{StaticResource BrandingStackPanelStyle}"> -->
<!-- Logo Picture -->
<!-- <ContentControl Style="{StaticResource LogoIcon}"> -->
<!-- Logo Name -->
<!-- <TextBlock x:Name="ApplicationNameTextBlock" Style="{StaticResource ApplicationNameStyle}" Text="Application Title Name"> -->
<!-- </StackPanel> -->
<!-- </Border> -->
What a real pain...

It isn't the editor - it is the XML specification that deems it not possible to have -- within a comment.
I agree, it is a PITA
