Hi,
I would like to allow my registered users to create their own personal page(s) that they can style and use as they like. Their webpage would be www.mysite.com/johnFrank where johnFrank would be the user and his/her webpage. The only example I could think of that would be similar would be myspace. The only part that would be like myspace would be allowing the user to have their own webpage.
here are some other examples: http://www.authorsden.com/judyakennedy, http://www.fanstory.com/selectprofi...p?userid=146629
thanks,
john

Hey Mate,
Well look the only logical way i could see you doing this:
Use PHP to customise the page dependent on the users custom settings (not in actually coding)
Call database "customisation"
Get user "johnFrank"
Get column "box1"
If box1= latest news then
call latest "news.xml"
parse
etc.
Also allow users to make their our custom css sheets (help them out with a wizard)
If your site supports PHP then why not set a cookie that customises your home page (http://www.mysit.com/) to their current user settings. 3 secs extra load but it will make your site even more interactive and usefull.
Sorry for the lack of actuall script but i'm on borrowed time as is.

What exactly do you mean by "to clear" in this case?
To clear a string, you can replace it by string.Empty or null. To clear a numeric value, you can replace it by a zero value.
If you want to remove the key from the session variables collection, use the Session.Remove method.

Hello!
I have a major problem and I hope you can help me.
I have a multipart/form-data where I am browsing a picture file and then submitting it to upload.asp file. My animated progress bar is not getting displayed in upload.asp file because server is trying to complete the asp codes first and then it is displaying the html content.
How can I show an animated image or a text message in the upload.asp file during uploading process?
Thank You!
Bedri.

Hello
I think what you need is to flush the response object, using Response.Flush() after adding the animated stuff. This will output the html to the browser, while you can continue to do more processing on the server side.

Hello,
How do you test if the web service is available? Is this simply doing a
try {...} catch(System.Net.WebException) {...)
in every block of code where I try to access the web service?
Thank you for your help,

Hi,
Do you want to test whether the webservice is available or to know whether the available webservice is running??
When you want to test whether the avilable webservice is running:
1) It will throw a runtime exception as soon as you instantiate the Websevice in your implementation page.
When you want to test whether the webservice is available:
1) It will not allow to connect to the particular URL if it is not avaialbel from the WebReference dialog box.

Mohan

Hi guys,
I would like to inquire how to get the webpage/url address in real time from the back button. As we can see, when we push (down) pull down button in the back button, we can view the previous webpage visited. Is there a way to retrieve the url address in the back button without clicking on a link or a button using javascript?
your help would really be much appreciated.

The window.history property is an array of URL strings which reflect the entries in the History object
the previous property contains the complete URL of the previous element in the History list, and is the equivalent of the URL the user would go to if they selected Back in the Go menu.
Syntax: history.previous

There are also many web hosts tha wil give you free web space, however you wont get a .com address but a very long address, more like a page inside a web site. Go to your search engine Google.com and start looking. These web site also give step by step instructions on deploying your web site

I don't think you can. The quota for otherwise useless websites has been met (and exceeded), so web hosts are taking proactive steps to prevent the exponential increase of idiot wanna-be web masters.
