Just a quicky..
I take it I don't need to install .net 3.0 on the server before 3.5?
and can I just download and install the .net 3.5 SP1 or do I need 3.5 on its own first?
Sorry, just need to get it right first time as I don't have access to a test server, this is going on to our internal app server...
Thanks in advance..

Install from this location
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=AB99342F-5D1A-413D-8319-81DA479AB0D7&displaylang=en
This is a 2mb file that will check you current configuration and will download install accordingly, just note that this install infact will require you to restart
all your other ajax resources you can find at http://ajax.asp.net
Hope this helps

Excellent stuff,
I was hoping that would be the case, I was just trying to make sense of the documentation for it..
Thank you very much

Most of the documentations is a heap is nonsensical gibberish and sometimes we just need a direct straight yes or no with some tips.
But the move to .net 3.5 is a big and very good one , refer to some samples in http://www.asp.net/learn They have videos and samples that quickly helps you get clued up on .net 3.5 . I used it to get familiar with LINQ , and now database coding takes me half the time it would normally take, the linq syntax will just take a while to get used to but after a day of using linq you'll understand what a joy it is to code.
If you are also into mapping look into the windows live toolkit downloadable from www.microsoft.com/express it has a incredibly powerfull mapping tool for .net 3.5 apps

good day all
function LoadField()
{
var MergeField = $find("<%=cboMergeField.SelectedValue.Text%>");
}
how do i write a function in javascript that stores the selected value of a combo box, like on my code above, i want to store the value of the combobox cbomergefield.

You're not being very clear. AFAIK there is no such thing as a combo box in web development - not using the standard tools, anyway.
And when you say you want to "store" the selected value, what do you mean? Store where? or do you simply mean you want o return it, or assign it to a variable?
If this latter, and you mean a listbox/dropdown as opposed to a combobox, you can use code along these lines:
var lst = document.getElementById("cboMergeField"); // variable assigned to control
var i = lst.selectedIndex; // for the selectedIndex
var n = lst.options[i].value; // for the selected value

Let's see...you want US to do your entire project? I suggest you get out of programming now. We're not here to do all your work for you.

I second that. Doesn't sound like the OP has the slightest clue what n-tiered application development is.

Ah, come on, he only wants one or two pages..
On a more serious note, indeed it doesn't seem he does - he's a web developer too (whatever that means).

Well, I would start by changing topics at college as you don't seem to be cut out to be a developer and obviously have no real idea what you are asking for.

Do you even have the slightest clue what you are asking? You might want to consider a career change or major change if you are still in school.

Hi all!
I'm having a rather irritating issue with Hyperlinked Images, and spacing.
Here goes.
I have a table with two adjacent images, with the left one hyperlinked.
Code is as follows:
<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
<tr>
<td height="77" widtth="410"><a cellpadding="0" border="0" style="color:white" href="http://www.brabys.com/"><img src="http://www.codeproject.com/SiteRes/CP/Img/Std/logo225x90.gif" /></a></td>
<td border="0" height="77" width="100%"><img src="http://www.codeproject.com/SiteRes/CP/Img/Std/logo225x90.gif" /></td>
</tr>
</table>
Now, as you see by that, the images are RIGHT next to each other, with a slight white space inbetween, which is caused by the white hyperlink border (Change it to blue, then remove the hyperlink to see the difference)
What i want to know if it is possible to remove the hyperlink border, or set it's thickness to 0 (Hopefully removing it like that)
Any suggestions?

use border="0" within the img tag, not the a tag
'a cellpadding' is also irrelevant

Aaah! Thanks alot!
Works perfectly

Hi Guys.
I have some weird problem regarding session parameters.
The site works fine on our local testing environment, assigning values to session parameters and reading from the session parameters, but as soon as I put the site on the live server all the session parameters stays blank, so it goes through assigning values to them but when you want to read the session parameter it is empty, could it be due to IIS settings or something?
Thanks in advance

NeroToxic wrote: could it be due to IIS settings
could be - who's hosting it, and can't you ask them? Or it may be that your site is hosted across a web-farm and not a single server, in which case you'll need to look into alternative ways of storing session state. Or ask your host to move you to a single server (which, unless your site is large and mission-critical is quite adequate in most cases.)

Well, unless MySql has some features most people have never heard of, I suggest you do your sending and receiving in Java.

Hi all,
I have developed an C++ application with Visual Studio 2005 and in them i want save some files in a remote server using IXMLHTTPRequest component. usually before save the file, i read the directory tree in remote server and user can select the right destination directory and often everything is OK and the application works fine.Except unfortunately when the destination directory(or actually the full path) is too long, the "send" method does not return and readyState remain 2, but on other hand file is correctly saved in remote server.In this way i have tried to use a network monitoring application(Ethereal) and i observed that a "PUT" request is sent to remote server and then "200" response is received form the server and according to this observation the file was saved
correctly. I think that i have problem with my client (MSXML4.DLL) or any
internet setting.
Everybody can give me any recommendations to resolve this problem.
Thanks in advance
Alireza
