There a few tutorials addressing this library on the net, which one do you suggest?
I need a clear, basic one.

I get following error:
"The state information is invalid for this page and might be corrupted."
My code is working fine on local machine but it gives error on Production.
In my ASP .net page I have used gridview. I bind the gridview with an array of
objects.
I store this array in Viewstate. Grid view contains link buttons in each row.
Every time user clicks link, data related to that particular row is populated in
textboxes. I use object array stored in viewstate to populate textboxes.
Error mentioned in subject line comes only in Production because we use load
balancer servers.
Please suggest, how can I solve this problem ?
I searched a lot on google/msdn. I found similar topics but posted almost an year ago. I could not find any final solution for this issue. Please inform me if you have solution for this issue or suggest me any link where I can get help.
Thanks in advance.
Amit.

You may encounter problems with load balanced servers, as your response will not necessarily go back to the server where you session is stored in process.
You might want to consider using session stored in a shared database, or configuring your servers so that you are always returning the to same server as the one you initially hit... (that's a bit of a guess, no clue how you do that).

Hi, Thanks for the reply.
Problem is not with SessionState, but with ViewState.
We use SQL server for storing session data.

Hi!
I get exactly the same error when running ASP.NET 2.0 applications on home machine (WinXP, IIS 5.1, .NET 2.0 SP2, .NET 3.5 SP1). The error occurs on first or second postback on any page. Applications run OK on dev machine and in production.
I've tried many solutions, but nothing worked. I reinstalled ASP.NET, run aspnet_regsql.exe to set up ASPState and aspnetdb databases.
This error is reproduced in FF 3.0.4 and IE 7, so I thought, that the reason is in IIS configuration or in machine/web.configs. BUT what's interesting, errors won't fire in IIS 5.1 internal browser and newly installed Safari 3.2.1! I'm now totally confused.
There's no definite solution over the internet, how to fix this weird error, so that's would be great to find it finally. Any suggestions are welcome.

After reading this article[^] I reviewed my installed instances of .NET framework. It turned out, that there were several service packs installed on non-existent frameworks, such as 3.0 and compact frameworks (that could be caused by VS 2008 istallation, which installs SPs first prior to installing .NET 3.5). So I uninstalled all that SPs and 3.5 framework continuously from higher version to lower (all higher .NET 2.0). Then I installed .NET 2.0 SP 1, then .NET 3.0, then .NET 3.5. After that I ran "aspnet_regiis.exe -r" command (in .NET 2.0 directory) and it worked for me.
So the moral of this quest is "keep your .NET frameworks clean".
Thanks for your attention

Finally I got it. After reading this article[^] I immediately started to suspect my NOD32 3.0 antivirus. After turning it off, everything fell into its place. The reason of such behaviour is because in version 3.0 NOD32 provides more tight browser interaction. It scans every content, that browser sends and receives by HTTP. Especially those ones, which run in "active mode" (set in NOD32 settings). IE and FF was marked as to be run in such mode, when Safari wasn't - that's why there were no errors in Safari.

I have got a popup form im using to get information that i will load on the main form. On the popup form im using the following code to update the main form by forcing a postback.
string script1 = "window.opener.document.forms(0).submit();";
ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript(Page, Page.GetType(), "submit", script1, true);
my problem is forcing the submit on the main form corrupts some controls(third part tools). I would like to refresh only the textbox being updated on the main page.
Does anyone know the best way to do this.

No kidding. I was just reading up on a ton of those articles yesterday whilst investigating consuming web services with Silverlight 2.0. Printed out a few so I have something to read while the car is in the shop today.

Hi,
Im trying to send a XML string to a differet asp page and get the response from it.
'strFileName = an XML file with extension .txt
My Code sample
<pre>Set objXMLHTTP = Server.CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP")
Set fsoFileSystem = createobject("scripting.filesystemobject")
set fsoFile = fsoFileSystem.OpenTextFile(strFileName,ForReading)
'Read the file into a variable
strACORDXML = fsoFile.ReadAll
fsoFile.Close
set fsoFile =Nothing
objXMLHTTP.open "POST", strURL, False
'Set the option to ignore SSL cert errors
'13056 is SXH_OPTION_IGNORE_SERVER_SSL_CERT_ERROR_FLAGS
objXMLHTTP.setOption 2, 13056
'Set the HTTP headers
objXMLHTTP.setRequestHeader "MIME-Version", "1.0"
objXMLHTTP.setRequestHeader "Content-Type", "Multipart/Related; boundary=MIME_boundary;"
'Send the XML string
objXMLHTTP.send (strACORDXML)
'Get the response
strResponse = objXMLHTTP.responseText </pre>
If I used MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP object, it gives me time out error:
msxml3.dll error '80072ee2'
The operation timed out
Actually both webpages that's communicating are hosted at the same machine. The main site (ex. aa.domain.com) points to particular folder under it, while another one (ex. bb.domain.com) points to another folder which is two levels
up to the first one.
Please help!!

I've noticed that many modern web site home pages (Web 2.0) appear to have clearly marked left and right margins. You can see an example of this if you maximize the following web page - www.plentyoffish.com. Here is another example - www.music.com. Here is one more example - www.viddia.com.
My question is - what is the easiest way to implement this type of layout where the left and right margins are clearly defined? I would imagine that this type of layout would typically use css instead of tables. I'm not sure how it's done though. What are your thoughts on the best way to easily implement this type of layout?

I have some code that works fine (brings up the open save cancel dialog to download the file) in the VS2008 IDE.
but when it is running on the server, the window just opens for few seconds then closes and no file download dialog shows.
Response.Charset = "";
Response.ContentType = "Application/x-msexcel"; //also tried Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.xls";
Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment;filename=StockIn_" + CurrentWarehouseS + ".xls");
System.IO.StringWriter stringWrite = new System.IO.StringWriter();
System.Web.UI.HtmlTextWriter htmlWrite = new HtmlTextWriter(stringWrite);
gvInfo.RenderControl(htmlWrite); //gvInfo is a GridView
Response.Output.Write(stringWrite.ToString()); // Also tried Response.Write(stringWrite.ToString());
Response.End();
I get the same results even on the server itself

Hi, I'm having problems matching up my site's look and feel with Firefox and IE, I've tried setting it up differently via a CSS IF statement but haven't been able to get far in smoothing things out.
I'm not sure If I'm supposed to post the code here or just link the problem, I'm not sure how to explain it myself but you can see it at http://www.jeeney.com if you check both browsers, it looks cut up and chunky in IE.
I would be grateful for any suggestions
Thanks in advance!
PS let me know if I need to paste in the actual CSS i'm using.
