I have an existing web application that I am modifying for mobile devices and need a list of the different browser types and what phone that belong to. I am looking to gather a group of emulators for testing. Any helpful articles that will get me started would also be appreciated.

Keep in mind that there exists web browsers that may exists on more than one operating system such as Opera. Streaming browser (such as skyfire) will be indistinguisable from desktop browsers to your application.

Hi all.
To make my application only working on some specified devices, I used this approach:
When program start, first of all retrive (with the KernelIoControl method) the Device ID of device in which it run, and then compare it with some autorized Device ID strings contained in the application.
All works correctly, but I ask to my-self if this is a sufficentely safe way.
I tried to search in the executable file the same Device ID strings I written in the development (VB) time, and them are not been found.
Are these strings encripted?
Another question:
As I read that often several device returns the same device ID, or the same device returns different Device ID (and/or different string-lenght)depending on which method is used to retrive it, where I can read an exaustive article related with above question?

I AM WORKING ON SMART DEVICE PROJECT
I HAVE A CODE OF "Creating Custom DirectShow SampleGrabber Filter for Windows Mobile"

BUT AFTER DEPLOYING IT ERROR OCCURS WHICH IS

AT ONE BLOG I READ THAT IT CAN BE SOLVED BY "DUMPBIN"
CAN ANY 1 TELL ME THAT WHAT IS THAT & HOW TO USE THAT

I don't know why you are getting that error, but others may be able to help you better if they know that CameraCapturedll.dll came from Marcus Perryman[^] of Microsoft. That being said you may want to post this question on the page from which you originally downloaded the code since it appears that he does respond to questions on the code.

Dumpbin is a utility to help you find out what is on the inside of dlls and libs and exes. You could also try using it on other stuff, just to see what happens (its fun!). dumpbin reference[^]
Anyway, I suspect that it has something to do with the way that you are importing the dll into your project or some problem in your build environment. You can use dumpbin to confirm that init exists in your dll (just for sanity's sake).

I want to sync my mobile programatically. It should not run microsoft active sync program, instead of that my application is running in background and it should be popped up and sync my mobile.
Is that possible?

If you want to make your own syncronization program you can. But if you are not using active sync you will need to define your own data transport and protocols.

You can transfer files via TCP given that it has a connection to the desktop.

I have done something similar once. We made a service that ran on the pc, that transfered some files to/from the mobile. It is very doable.
Onne problem though... We needed ActiveSync to establish the network connection to the mobile (it does so automatically when you dock the mobile). We did not sync anything via ActiveSync, but ActiveSync needed to be running. I do not know if you can establish the network connection to the device without ActiveSync

You didn't mention what language/technology you are using, so I will assume this is a .Net program.
You need to add an event handler to the KeyPress event and in the event handler check to see if the KeyChar on the event args object is Keys.Escape. If it is then set the Handled member of the event arg to true.

Does eVC++ 4 allow for userdrawn list boxes?
Does it allow for color text, different fonts, italics, etc in list boxes?
If the answer to the above two questions is yes, do you know of a sample of code for list boxes in eVC++ 4?

I don't think that IDE is robust enough to allow you to do that with it's resource editors. But you can certainly do that in code. Try reading over this[^]. You could adjust the window and control styles and even draw your own control on WM_PAINT.
I'll try to scrounge up a code snip if I can find it.

I need to create a Excel Sheet from a cf application. I'm doing a "mobile version" of an PC program, and the result is sent to a server processing the data, so a csv file is not good enougth.
Since pocet Excel don't have any API like the "PC version" has, I cant do it in the same way as I have in my PC program.
Bacicly I have a DataGrid, that I need to dump to a excel file.
Does anyone have an idea on how to do it?
Same link to the big mysterius MSDN, that I havent found...?
Or perhaps someone know that there is'nt any good way to do it?
Myabe someone knows about the file spec for an Excel file, so I can write my own "ExcelWriter"??

I am assuming you are writing using a native language (c/c++) since this is less of an issue with managed programs. I can think of two options. One involves using events, the other using the FindWindow function .
You can make use of named events so that a program knows
- Whethere or not it is the first instance
- If it is not the first instance the event can be used to notify the already existing instance to take focus
To use the event to detect whether or not a starting instance is the first instance all you have to do is look at the return result from a call to CreateEvent. If the return value is SUCCESS then this is the first instance of the program. If the return value is ERROR_ALREADY_EXISTS then this is a secondary instance of the program. ERROR_ALREADY_EXISTS is a successful error code and what is returned to you when this occurs is a handle to the same underlying event object that the first instance of the program is using. A full discussion of events isn't something that I can put in this reply but that is what you may want to look at.
You other option is to use the FindWindow function to see if another instance of your application is already running. If a window is found then use SetForegroundWindows to give it focus. This is far easier than using events but has drawbacks.
With the event solution you will have to make use of multiple threads. So it's more complex but also more reliable. With the FindWindow/SetForegroundWindow solution if two instances of your application are started in rapid succession then they could both check for the existence of a window before either instance has actually created a window. So neither instance will find the other. Since event creation is atomic this problem would never occurr.

Hi.
I try to Run the fallow pice of code above on my xbox 360 and I get a Compact Framework error saying the XBOX 360 is not compatibily with Asynchronous Calls.
Probably my code has some kide of error because the xbox has the method Guide.BeginShowKeyboardInput and Guide.BeginShowStorageDeviceSelector who as Asynchronous.
What I'm doing wrong?
