If you haven't figured it out yet, you should try this:
- add a new form to the project
- to show the new form create a new instance of the form and call the ShowDialog() method:

FormName frm = new FormName();
frm.ShowDialog();
----

Hi, thanks, but the problems still remains.

When I type the point and the VS shows the available methods, ShowDialog() doesn't appear. If I look up in the Help I can read a note telling that it is a method available only in the Framework 2.
Then I went to the "About...". It shows "Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0.50727".

So, which can be the problem? I created the project as "Device Application for Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone"

Hi all,

I'm new in visual studio2005 and software development for PPC, but I use to make lot of microcontrolled harwares so I'm not an absolutelly newbyte for different Basic programing languages.

Now I would like to communicate with a serial device using my PDA with Windos mobile 2003.
Could somebody send me a short sample project vritten in VB how to enumerate PPC's serial ports in a listbox or so, selecting serial port, setting the baudrate, opening and closing the serial port, sending and receiving some text or any kind of data from and into a textbox.

Hello fellows,

I have a problemo. I created a new list control for my application, which is derived directly from CWnd (the story why i do not use standard CListBox or CListCtrl is long and useless here).

It was working fine... until the customer asked for a new feature: that when the arrow keys are pressed (up and down), the focus of the selected list... well, moves up and down.

So I captured the WM_KEYDOWN message and I have something like:

However, it is not working. Why? Because the device is sending neither VK_UP nor VK_DOWN; rather, it sends a code, 132, which corresponds to F21 or something like that. Furthermore, it sends the same code for both up arrow and down arrow.

That happens with a Symbol 50c PPC. I tried the same with an Intermec 730, and it gets worse: the arrows doesn't even send a code.

Any idea why is this happening? Any comment or suggestion will be really appreciated.

Hello,

I'm currently developping a PDA application with Visual Studio 2005 using C# and the .NET compact framework. When I create PicutureBox controls in the Windows Form Designer, exceptions are thrown when running the application. Here is an example of the code which causes the exception. This code is automatically created by the Windows Form Designer.

this.picBoxLogo.Image = ((System.Drawing.Image)(resources.GetObject("picBoxLogo.Image")));

The exception thrown is:
"Une exception de première chance de type 'System.UnauthorizedAccessException' s'est produite dans mscorlib.dll"

How can I prevent these exceptions to be thrown?

Hi all

I originally placed this under .NET Framework but it may be best in this category.

I currently get the following error randomly in my software application - Native Exception Error: 0xc0000005.

This is a .NET Compact Framework 1.1 application for PocketPC 2002. I am using a Symbol PDT8037.
I am also using OpenNetCF 1.4.
It is all written in C#.
There are some calls to the Win32 library. E.g. setting the time on the PDA.
Also I use Symboll DLLs to access the inbuilt barcode scanner. Would these be Native code?
I am not using SQL CE.

My understanding of a Native Exception Error means that native code, e.g. C/C++ is using an address space and hasn't cleaned itself correctly. Then managed code, e.g. C#, is later accessing that same address space. Then CRASH!

Is this correct or am I totally on the wrong track?

Does anyone else get these errors?

This mainly happens 90% of the time in our Products screen which utilises the barcode scanner. I don't want to be quick in blaming Symbol though in case it is my own code.

I couldn't find too much information on the Internet. One strategy I implemented was to disable ALL native code (including the barcode scanner). However the crashes still occurred, albiet less frequently.

I'm at a loss. Can anyone help?

i have taken a notification control in my smart device application in c# and displayed the notification message ,after displaying the notification message the default notification icon which has been generated in the titlebar of the emulater is not being removed ,how do i remove the icon from the titlebar after displaying the notification message

You can show/hide the notification icon using the Visible property.
Anyway, I had a similar problem when first started to use the notification control and found out that the Icon should be 16*16 size in order to work fine.
Try this ...

all the guru .sorry for my poor english .
there are two phenomena ,one is on a PB4.0 sdk ,in this case the first and second program is ok and dialog builded by dll is ok .The other case is is on a PB5.0 sdk ,the first program is ok ,but the dialog builded by dll can only be shown ,but it can not receive any message as if the dialog is not the forground window .While in this pb5.0 sdk ,the second program can builde the dialog by call the same dll ,and the dialog can receive mouse and ket message .
I'm puzzled ,if the sdk is wrong why other program can builde the dialog ,and it can receive the system message ? so I guess the first program must call some function which is not compatible in PB5.0 sdk .
I have do my best ,But i have no idea. help me

Hello,

I'm C++ newbie,
I need a C++ control (for fast graphics) embedded into VB.net project.

I tried to compile test MFC Device application and it worked well,
Then I've tried to make MFC AX or ATL DLL with builtin control class to do the same work, It's built successfully, but when I try to import it into VB.net application, it's added but application does not start! Error message says "COM object with CLSID '{C011DD30-2476-4C47-8C4C-C1EE9BF20F0C}' cannot be created due to the following error: Class not registered ."
I tried to use regsvr32 to register it, but the control isn't registered: "aaa.dll is not an executable ... etc"

Everywhere I searched for this problem says "use regsvrce to register DLL on a device", but I need it registered on PC, to test project on Emulator!

How can I avoid this problem and safely use control?

Update:
I "Deployed" aa.dll on emulator device and then line
Me.aa = New aaaLib.ctlTest
worked well, but line:
Me.Controls.Add(aa)
throws error: "InvalidCastException"
to all appearances C++ ATL DLL class isn't considered to be compatible with .Net control class.
How can I make native C++ control to use it with .net app?

Use Ctrl+Left/Right to switch messages, Ctrl+Up/Down to switch threads, Ctrl+Shift+Left/Right to switch pages.
