I have a problem. I have developed several desktop applications that involve Excel automation, and I am pretty aware of how to add Office Library References, create Excel objects, etc. Now, I am developing a SmartDevice application that will run in a CellPhone with Windows Mobile 6.1, and I want to read from an Excel file that will reside in the phone. The problem is, when I try to add a reference to the Microsoft Office Library, it doesn’t exist in the COM Reference List. How can I make this Library available?
I am using Visual Basic in Visual Studio 2008.
Can someone help me?
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

The VSTO extension from Microsoft is PC Windows only and does not work for mobile devices.
I find it hard to believe anyone would work on Excel in a small screen size on a mobile device other than for viewing (and squinting hard).
Having said that there are component vendors which have Mobile libraries for working with XLS/X files one is : TMS FlexCel.net
You can look into these libraries instead.

I have a Wowza server setup, and I need to stream from my android application to Wowza.
I've done quite a lot of research on this. The closest solution I found was this: http://code.google.com/p/spydroid-ipcamera/issues/detail?id=2[^]
But that doesn't work. I have everything setup for my app, all I need to is to do the streaming, which I'm not at all familiar with.
Thank you!

Hi All
I have had a look on the android developer site and downloaded and installed everything in the correct order, but when I try and install the Android SDK it tells me I do not have the java JDK installed. The first time I installed the JDK I used version 7. I then realised it was the wrong version so I took it off and put on that latest 6 version. Still the Android SDK tells me I do not have the JDK.
Getting a bit frustrated now and don't know where to turn. I downloaded and unzipped the Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers, then the JDK on Windows Vista Basic edition. Any ideas.
Cheers

I have managed to sort this out now and it all seems to work fine. Ended up buying a new machine and setting everything up on a VirtualBox Windows 7 VM with no problems

Hi,
I am a computer science student thinking of creating an android app for my senior project. The app is supposed to be a calendar like app that will help students keep up with due dates for assignments, projects, tests, exams etc.
I know of at least one app(on the iphone) that does this, but mine would go a step further in the sense that; all the data isn't entered by the student, its already in there when they turn on their app.
To achieve this, i would create an online site accessible to only teachers. The teachers would use this site to create all the class information data.
The part where i could really use some pointers and insight is making the online info accessible to the mobile client. Should i just use embedded webviews or create a web service that grabs the data from the site and transfers it to the students phone app?
Thank you.

I've only had experience with kSOAP2, which uses the SOAP protocol to make RPC to a server. It has no support for WSDL specifications, so you have to write the objects and methods wrappers yourself.
To send and receive a custom objects (and not just the generic SoapObject), you can either use a custom Marshal class, or make the objects implement KvmSerializable (preferably trough some common base class). Don't forget to register your types with your SoapSerializationEnvelope object.
Do download it, go to code.google.com/p/ksoap2-android.

I am working on a code of objective c that requires me to embed trignometry formula. actually i have the formula but i am confused how to implement that into my code.i am trying to find out everywhere & i am getting too but not getting exactly i need.the formula is like
Axh = Ax cos θz
Ayh = Ay cos θy
|AI | =sqrt(|Axh|^2 + |Ayh|^2)
α = arccos(Axh/|AI|) β = arccos(Ayh/|AI |)
Alat =Axh sin α+ Ayh sin β
these are formulas so anyone out there can help me with geometric coding or any simple project from where i can learn.. thanks

In CE 6.0, the main window of my app is created with CreateWindowEx with an extended style of WS_EX_NOACTIVATE. According to the documentation, SetForegroundWindow() can be used to bring this app to the foreground. However, this doesn't work. Does ANYONE have a clue?

I'm a well known proponent of Windows technology, but I am seriously impressed by Android machines (particulary those running Honeycomb). I'm so impressed that I would actually like to get into Android development. So, with that in mind, I'd like to ask for recommendations for books on Android (Honeycomb) development.

I am interested too.
As a side note, since I have a long background in .net and most development on Android is in a kind of java, so monoAndriod seems promising.
Also take a look at html5 it seems very cool there is a framework for it with very nice demos here, I don't know if it will work in an offline mode of operation but it's very slick.

I'm comfortable doing HTML 5 development. What I was looking for is native Android development, and while using MonoDroid would be easy enough for me, I'd like to gain experience with the standard Android SDK. That's no reflection on the Mono team, purely that I'd like to learn this stuff for myself.

I don't of any books to recommend but I got started using the Android developers guide. I also came from a .NET background and found it easy.
I like using Motodev but the IDE of choice appears to be Eclipse.
Hope that helps

I want to create a simple application for my club,which will enable users search details of other members on their BB , Android phone or any java enabled phone. Is it better to embed the database in the app or have it hosted elsewhere ? I'd prefer embedded in case phone not configured for internet access , but what are the practical considerations, including in the development and use ?
Thanks

It all depends on your connectivity level (always online, offline), network availability and how much data you will be transferring.
For a case like yours I would presume low data transfer, and always online would do so don't make your life difficult by embedding the database.

The problem with embedded only is how does the database update? New members etc. You could use an embedded database and provide access to a server to update when online. My phone doesn't have 3G but there are plenty of Wi-Fi connections I use, so I'm regularly connected. After all they need to be connected or sync'd at some stage to install the app.
