The issue is not so much the language that is used but the OS on the phone. Even if you could use a single language you still need to compile them into the correct object code for the different phones.

Look and feel is the killer. The UX for each platform is quite different. Your only option is web but your still going to have to compromise on the UX

Back to school I'm afraid. The big change is the UI, a lot of the old stuff has been deprecated in favour of fragments. To get the UI right you'll need to reference the android.support.v4.app[^] jars because 70% of users are still on 2.3.x and won't be able to use your app otherwise.
You also might want to take a look at the ActionBarSherlock[^] to get the complete new school look. A bit of work involved but the end result should look pretty cool and give you some future proofing.

I am trying to write video recorder app for Windows Phone 7. According to my phone tech spec camera can record video with resolution 1280x720. But in VideoCaptureDevice.SupportedFormats I have only one option 640x480. How to enforce highest resolution? Build in WP7 application "Camera" can record video in both resoulution.
My code:

When I try to run my hello world app I get this message in the console window...

Typically I prefer to open an AVD from the AVD manager first and then run my app once it has started. Even better test on a real device, they are faster.
