I am starting to write a simple C# ASP.NET application that updates an Excel-like grid of 6 columns and about 100 rows.

I have some experience with the the old DataGrid with WindowForms apps; and some past experience with ASP.NET using Infragistics, but am totally unfamiliar with the newer Microsoft ASP.NET grid tools.

I have read that the ListView is the preferred tool to use, superceding the GridView. However, in trying to use the ListView it seems I am running into some basic limitations, like how to set the width of the list view. Is the ListView really the best tool, or is the GridView still better for simple grid applications like the example above?

That gives a great overview, showing how the ListView is superior to the GridView in every way.

However, when I tried to use it, there seemed to be some glaring holes, e.g. you can't just set the width of the grid like you can with the GridView. Maybe I'm missing something, but the list of properties on the ListView seemed much smaller than on the GridView, and I couldn't see any setting for "width", nor if I try a google search can I get any answers.

Do you know how to set the width of the ListView?

Thats quite an odd thing to do! For the first step you'd need to use the following JavaScript (as the click happens client side):

document.getElementById('XXXXXXXX').click();

getting "XXXXXXXX" is the problem. The way to find it depends on your method, but post no 2 here[^] might be helpful.

Why are you doing this? It is unusual to want the UI to interact with itself.

i have a string of whois domain information in a string format. all information is in table format i.e. different tables for different domain in string. i want to extract information from it like 'expiry date','creation date','status','name server'.........etc
How can i extract such information from the string? also consider the case where a particular item may be more than once for each domain....like the name server. how to get all name server from the string?

hi
i have developed crystal report in ASP.net 2.0.

Everything work fine in local,but why i hosted it display more info required with some login screen.

in my crystal report database fields->set database location->property i saw that my file path is my abc.xsd file path location like,D:/a/abc.xsd. May be for that this report not display in web.

Please help me how to solve the problem.

yes you can get yourself registered at direcpay service provided by "the times group" and can make payments through any bank of india with net banking service and credit card service. its very easy to integrate too.

Hello everybody ,

i have created an ASP.NET Web service application , but in the same solution i have created a class that implements IHTTPHandler interface
and i used this class in my web.config file as the main http handler for *.asmx extensions , i have put the following line

<add verb="*" path="*.asmx" validate="false"  type="GAndroidService.Android.AndroidHandler,GAndroidService.Android" />

it works fine in Cassini embedded web server in visual studio .

but when i deploy it to my domain web server , it tells me it could not load this type or its dependencies whereas this class is associated with one of the solution folders.

how can i solve this problem IIS 6 ?

My friend i would like to inform you that the http handler works fine without injecting the assembly in the GAC , because the http handler is not in a different assembly , it is in the same assembly namespace as the whole project but the problem was as follows .

i didn't put the assembly name after declaring the fully qualified namespace of the handler

for example the assembly name is GAndroidService

and the fully qualified namespace for the handler is

GAndroidService.Android.AndroidHandler

so the assembly is successfully loaded in memory when the web service runs in the context of asp.net engine so i had to put it like that

GAndroidService.Android.AndroidHandler , GAndroidService

i hope this could help.

I could be way off the mark here, but I believe you use the CSS Z-Index property[^].

From w3schools:

The z-index property specifies the stack order of an element.
An element with greater stack order is always in front of an element with a lower stack order.

You could do this in server-side code of the calendar control, or in a CSS file - I believe using a CSS file would be better practice.

Use Ctrl+Left/Right to switch messages, Ctrl+Up/Down to switch threads, Ctrl+Shift+Left/Right to switch pages.
