Hi all,
I am working on .NET for the past one year. I read some books for it but i am confused as to what controls should we use for maximum performance.There are always more than one way to implement a functionality,hence we should sought out the best way to implement a certain functionality.
for eg: We should use datasets rather than using datareaders...
We should use tables instead of divs....
Can any body provide some very useful tips on "How to design a high performance website"

No.. Not neccessary..
There is world of Difference between Dataset and DataReader.
DataReader - Simple , Fast, Forward-Only, Read-Only, Connection oritented, Ideal for handling small set of Records. Ex: Binding of read-only data is much more efficient using a reader.
Dataset - Powerful, Two-way(Moves Forward and Backward), Read-Write Access, Connectionless, Ideal for manipulating huge set of Records. Ex: Binding Data to a DataGrid and manipulating and doing a Bulk update.
If you try to use these two the other way round then it dramatically reduces the performance of your application...

No two controls have 100% similar properties, methods and events. There are slight differences that the other control is incapable of doing...we can say that these are the limitions implied on the control...

2.Optimized Code
3.Proper Usage of Session and Application Variables
4.Proper Implementation of Caching Techniques
5.Reduced Viewstate Maintenance
6.Client-Side Validation
practicing all these will help you to deliver a high performance website.

This is actually written by the web site administration tool, so you can safely remove it.

Actually i am having a thumbnail image with two anchor tag . one for delete and one for download. While i go delete its not working properly.
Pls any one give solution for this.

hello everybody
i have to develop a e-learning application using asp.net.i need to have whiteboard,chat,application sharing.i dont know how to implement the application sharing and whiteboard.what i want is that when i share any application (powerpoint,word,excel) all the user who are connected should be able to view it in real time but the control of the application should be with the administrator.if i change any slide or word document then the change should be reflected to all connected users.please help me....

Even I am working on the same concept. we have lot many things to discuss. I have done an integration with white board, but stuck up while sharing the images and documents to the connected session in the whiteBoard

Can anybody tell me how to upload the project over the server or domain

1. Copy the Files that is need to Run the application in a Project Folder .
2. share the Folder and set the neccessary permission to access the Folder from a Remote Server using a Domain User Account.
3. Connect to the Remote Server using Admin UserName and Password through Remote Desktop Connection.
4. Go to Run Command and Type- "\\YourComputerName". Give your Username and Password If it prompts and You will be able to access the shared folder's of your Computer.
5. Take the files and Copy it in the IIS Virtual Directory.

Asp.Net it self provide the intellisense environment,
so you dont have to write the full word of any properties, methods or function.
When you declare, create a class, methods, properties or function.
You can use all this by pressing only ctrl + space and you will automatically gain all things.
SO I think there is a less chances of spelling mistakes.

Do you want to add a month to a particular date? If so, did you check the documentation? The DateTime class has an AddMonths method.
