I actualy have a system which is a set of daisychained Response.Redirects, and i'd like to know if they can be caught and modified at each step.
By the looks of it, no. But i thought that the Response.Redirect went back to the client first, with the response.

Then the answer is yes, they can be caught and modified at each step. As I said, each one sends an HTTP redirect to the browser so yes it goes back to the client first, its very easy to see each one.

Hai to all,
I have developed a webapplication.Presently i have declared and using variables which are used in all the application using module1.vb(ex:public i as integer,different variables for different purposes).
But this type of declaration will give a great problem in the future,in maintainace??It is true.Wats the solution for this???
Is it true that using more Session Varibles causes the application slow????
But still i am using both of them.
Give me correct idea wat i have to use for the best maintaince???

Don't make your application more complex ............
i think you should store all those varaibles in datacontainer class
having private variables and public properties
Populate your data to this datacontainer class and enjoy coding

Its not difficult to create to datacontainer class. You can create in your application by adding new .vb class and write there ........
Simply you have to create one object and set all values which you required in future

Hi All,
I have a requirement for a user control. Below is the specification of that.
This control should be able to read a quote from a database table (sqlserver2005) and it should display the Quote on daily basis. Randomly display a quote but once display on a particular date should be repeated until all the quotes are displayed. Before changing to a different quote display, the old quote should be stamped with the date it was displayed.
Table name : DailyQuotes
Fields:-
QuoteId : integer
Quote : nvarchar(Max)
LastdisplayDate : datetime.
I am developing usiing C# and Asp.net2.0

Use Server.UrlEncode() method while attaching values.
ex :
Server.Transfer("../userModules/ManageMores.aspx?ASe=" + Server.UrlEncode(Asp).....

Hi,
I have a gridview containing several rows of multi-column data. I've bound my grid from an ArrayList specifying bound fields on my gridview columns like this:
<asp:BoundField HeaderText="Price" DataField="SalesPrice" />
I can then read in cell/column data by indexing into the row and indexing to the column I need like this:
String str = (gvItems.Rows[i].Cells[0]).Text;
Knowing exactly which column it is, is error-prone so what I'd like to do is access my data knowing the datafield name, "SalesPrice". Can anyone suggest a good way of doing this?
Do I need to have a template?

it is always better to use index than using the name. bcoz if the name is changed u have to modify everywhere wherver u use it. for huge projects it is a very tedious job. my suggestion would be that u better use index.

It is more likely for the column order to be changed rather than the name of the data field because the latter is what the gridview control is bound on.
The problem is that if the order of the columns changed, and the types of data were different as they are in my grid, the code would break. Whilst each column is a string value, some of those strings are actually numbers and I use a Parse method to parse them. If these methods tried to parse a string which wasn't actually a number, an exception would be raised.
Also, I pass the values to a method. If I use indexing, I have to arrange my parameters according to what position I read them in as, like this:

(String)(gvItems.Rows[i].Cells[1]).Text,
(String)(gvItems.Rows[i].Cells[6]).Text,
Decimal.Parse((gvItems.Rows[i].Cells[2]).Text),
Decimal.Parse((gvItems.Rows[i].Cells[3]).Text),
Decimal.Parse((gvItems.Rows[i].Cells[5]).Text),
Decimal.Parse((gvItems.Rows[i].Cells[4]).Text)
);
It's far better to use the name if at all possible.
