Hello,
I have a gridview as below:
CategoryNo | Category | CurrentValue | ForeCastValue | HelpFiles | Comments
I already have pre-defined values for 'Category' & obviously 'Category No' (which is auto & PK). These values are displayed when gridview opens. 'CurrentValue','ForecastValue' & 'Comments' are template fields with textbox controls.
For the 'Help Files' column I have pre-designed Word documents for each Category. I need to display an image in the Help column and link the Respective Word Documents for Each Category. In the past, in one of the other projects I have created a 'Details' page and linked it to the Hyperlink column with an image and opened it in the popoup window with 'javascript:window.open(details.aspx?id={0})' etc...
But here I am a bit lost as to how go about opening word documents for each category as a 'pop-up' help file with an image. I have created a 'Text' data type in the 'Category' Table in Sql Server 2005. In this field as of now I am saving the physical path of the word document for each category again catno. Should I use a Template field with 'DataBind.Eval' or still use hyperlink column to display the link and image?
Using : ASP.Net 2.0, VS2005, VB, SQL Server2005
Any help is much appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi All,
I've got and ASP.NET ATLAS AutoCompleteExtender control on my page, along with a textbox.
ASPX:
<br />
<asp:TextBox ID="txtSearch" runat="server"></asp:TextBox><br />
<asp:AutoCompleteExtender<br />
ID="autoComplete"<br />
runat="server"<br />
MinimumPrefixLength="1"<br />
ServiceMethod="FetchCompanies"<br />
ServicePath="Companies.asmx"<br />
TargetControlID="txtSearch" /><br />
Web Service Code:
<br />
[WebMethod]<br />
public string[] FetchCompanies(string prefixText, int count)<br />
{<br />
CompanyDataWrapper wrapper = new CompanyDataWrapper(m_connection);<br />
return wrapper.FetchCompaniesByPrefix(prefixText.ToUpper());<br />
}<br />
When I start typing in the textbox, nothing happens. No error message, nothing at all. I've tested the web service and it works fine.
Any ideas?
Thanks a lot.

My guess is that your ASPNET user (in this case ASPNET) does not have rights to the folder your webservice is sitting in.

If you use an ASP.NET dropdown control, you can set AutoPostback=true
|
|
|
|
|
Enable "AutoPostBack" for the Combo Box you made. can be done through its properties box. By default, this is not enabled ...
btw, what would happen if it was enabled by default ... what were going in their minds .. can someone suggest ...

It defaults to false because most combox choices do not require a postback.

|
if you want to get page is refresh on click & select the value of the combo box of html, then Right click on the html control and make it server type control (Run at Server) and set the property "AutoPostBack=Ture".

I think u should do it with javascript.
var temptime;
var curtime;
var disp;
function valuecheck(t)
{
eval(document.formname.TN_check.value=t);
doRewrite();
}
function beginrefresh()
{
curtime-=1;
disp=curtime+" seconds left until page refresh!";
window.status=disp;
setTimeout("beginrefresh()",1000);
}
function doRewrite()
{
window.status=""
curtime=(document.formname.TN_check.value/1000)+3;
if (document.formname.TN_check.value!="")
{
beginrefresh();
setTimeout('document.forms[0].submit()' , document.formname.TN_check.value);
return;
}
}
No Refresh
5 Mins
10 Mins

Hi,
I just switched from .Net 1.1 to .Net 2.0. I want to attach Javascript onto Delete button in GridView so that the user will be able to confirm if he really wants to delete the record.
However, I couldn't find ItemCreated event, which is presented in Datagrid. Here is my code used in Datagrid:
Private Sub dgContainer_ItemCreated(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataGridItemEventArgs) Handles dgContainer.ItemCreated
If e.Item.ItemIndex > -1 And Not e.Item.ItemType = ListItemType.EditItem Then
Dim DeleteButton As LinkButton = e.Item.Cells(6).Controls(0)
'Attach javascript onto OnClick event
DeleteButton.Attributes("OnClick") = "javascript:return confirm('Deleting this client will delete all the information related the client. Do you really want to delete " & _
Chr(34) & Trim(dgContainer.DataKeys(e.Item.ItemIndex)) & Chr(34) & "?')"
End If
End Sub
Does anyone know how to do this in GridView?
Thank you in advance!

Hi..
Referring to a DropDownList which is populated by a table, is it possible to select a default option whenever it is bound. For instance.. if I bind the DDL with Forenames from a user table, will I be able to tell the DLL to have a certain Forename selected as a default??
Thanks

There is a property for DropDownList like
ddl.selectedValue="value you want to select by default"
But always remember to use this property after you bind your DDL ie DropDownList.
