Hello,
I am creating a web site with Nested Master pages.
I also need to have a class where the culture is set. When the culture is changed by the user the page refreshes and the change takes effect.
I saw this approach, I think, on a MSDN web site or blog:
Config.vb > Class where culture is set from profile value
_Base.master > Parent master page
( _Navigation > Child master page)
Default.aspx.vb > Page
I have this working without the child master page _Navigation. I can't make this work with the child master page.
Could someone help me out with this?
This is the code for my 3 working pages (Config.vb, _Base.master and Defaul.aspx.vb)
----- Config.vb -----
1 Public Class Config
2 Inherits Page
3
4 Sub Page_PreInit(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles MyBase.PreInit
5 Response.Write("Config")
6 Page.Theme = CType(Context.Profile, ProfileCommon).Config.Theme
7 End Sub
8
9 Protected Overrides Sub InitializeCulture()
10 MyBase.InitializeCulture()
11 Dim language As String = CType(Context.Profile, ProfileCommon).Config.Language
12 If (language IsNot Nothing) AndAlso (language <> "Auto") Then
13 MyBase.UICulture = language
14 Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture = CultureInfo.CreateSpecificCulture(language)
15 End If
16 End Sub
17
18 End Class
----- Base.master.vb -----
1 Partial Class _Base
2 Inherits System.Web.UI.MasterPage
3
4 Protected Sub Page_Init(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles Me.Init
5 Response.Write("Base.master")
6 End Sub
7
8 End Class
9
10
----- Default.aspx.vb -----
1 Partial Class _Default
2 Inherits Config
3
4 Protected Overloads Sub Page_PreInit(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles Me.PreInit
5 Me.MasterPageFile = "~/_Base.master"
6 End Sub
7
8 Protected Sub Page_Init(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles Me.Init
9 Response.Write("Default.aspx")
10 End Sub
11
12 End Class
Could someone help me out in integrating a Child Master page between _Base.master and Default.aspx?
Thanks,
Miguel

I have data coming from multiple tables and I need some of the data to go into a 3rd column. So far all I can get is the name in the first column and the data in the second.
I am not sure how I can create the 3rd column and then populate it with data.
Any help would be much appriciated.
Thanks,
Jim

Combine your data into one DataSource and bind it to the control would probably be the simplest way.

Hey
I have a web application built in VS2003 using C# and asp.net.
I am having trouble linking to other pages, for example I have (sorry about the formating:
PostEvent"
Which is the the correct link (absolute). When i try to access this from login.aspx (which is a direcory down but this shouldnt matter due to the absolute link) i get an error page.
The resource cannot be found.
Requested Url: /RSAInter/LoginDemo/Organisors/Login.aspx
Can any one help me as to why it is looking for login.aspx
Cheers
Dan

Are you using Forms Authentication? If the user is not authenticated or does not have the proper role to access the resourse, the framework will redirect to the default login page. Also make sure that the loginUrl in Web.config is set correctly.Hope this helps..

there are one case , login.aspx is not in your current project, maybe you right click on your current project and addnew webform

i'm trying to write a validator for a text box that can take an IP mask (kkk.xxx.yyy.zzz). the tricky part is that the mask can contain an asterix to allow IP range masking (ex. 123.10.*).
so, it's not a matter of checking for four groups of 3 digits, separated by '.'s.
it's a matter of checking for one group of 1,2 or 3 digits, followed by a '.', then either a '*' (which terminates the string) or another group of 1,2 or 3 digits followed by a '.', then either a '*' or a group of digits, etc..
this is beyond my regex abilities... is it even possible ?

I wish I was at my machine to test this, but something like this may work:
[0-9]{1,3}\.[0-9]{1,3}\.([0-9]{1,3}\.([0-9]{1,3}|\*)|\*)

why dont you try it with follow code?
select collumname from tablename where not collumname=something
ignore value you want to delete
or
create a view or a table content your value, databind it to your component and delete anything you want ^^

Assuming you are using a DataTable and binding the grid to it you can always remove the record from the DataTable without effecting the database.

I have encontered a performance issue that I am not able to resolve. I have a simple form with some dropdownlist and text boxes (server controls). When I click the save button, it will perform a simple update in a table. The weird thing is that it takes about 3 to 4 seconds to post back. Saving the information in database takes less than a second. I set up a trace and the idle is between Begin Raise PostBackEvent and End RaisePostBackEvent as is shown below:
Trace Information
Category Message From First(s) From Last(s)
aspx.page Begin Init
aspx.page End Init 0.000383 0.000383
aspx.page Begin LoadViewState 0.000410 0.000027
aspx.page End LoadViewState 0.000911 0.000501
aspx.page Begin ProcessPostData 0.000933 0.000023
aspx.page End ProcessPostData 0.001130 0.000197
aspx.page Begin ProcessPostData Second Try 0.001213 0.000083
aspx.page End ProcessPostData Second Try 0.001237 0.000024
aspx.page Begin Raise ChangedEvents 0.001255 0.000018
aspx.page End Raise ChangedEvents 0.001280 0.000025
<b>aspx.page Begin Raise PostBackEvent 0.001298 0.000018</b>
<b>aspx.page End Raise PostBackEvent 3.517342 3.516044</b>
aspx.page Begin PreRender 3.517393 0.000051
aspx.page End PreRender 3.517547 0.000154
aspx.page Begin SaveViewState 3.519734 0.002188
aspx.page End SaveViewState 3.519846 0.000111
aspx.page Begin Render 3.519867 0.000021
aspx.page End Render 3.522489 0.002622
Any help on how to solve or improve the performance it is really appreciated.

How large is your viewstate?
|
|
|
|
|
View state shouldn't be an issue. It is under 22kb.

Well, you know where to look; the post back event uses 3.5 seconds, that's where almost all the time is spent. If saving the information takes less than a second, what do you do other than that?

That's the weird thing. I am not doing anything other than call my update function. When I put a custom message Trace.Warn("Before ButtonClicked handler.") This is what it displays:
Trace Information
Category Message From First(s) From Last(s)
aspx.page Begin Init
aspx.page End Init 0.000412 0.000412
aspx.page Begin LoadViewState 0.000440 0.000027
aspx.page End LoadViewState 0.000944 0.000504
aspx.page Begin ProcessPostData 0.000967 0.000023
aspx.page End ProcessPostData 0.001165 0.000198
aspx.page Begin ProcessPostData Second Try 0.001258 0.000092
aspx.page End ProcessPostData Second Try 0.001282 0.000025
aspx.page Begin Raise ChangedEvents 0.001301 0.000019
aspx.page End Raise ChangedEvents 0.001331 0.000030
aspx.page Begin Raise PostBackEvent 0.001349 0.000019
Before ButtonClicked handler. 3.498082 3.496733
aspx.page End Raise PostBackEvent 3.541860 0.043778
aspx.page Begin PreRender 3.541911 0.000051
aspx.page End PreRender 3.542067 0.000156
aspx.page Begin SaveViewState 3.544194 0.002127
aspx.page End SaveViewState 3.544302 0.000108
aspx.page Begin Render 3.544323 0.000021
aspx.page End Render 3.547021 0.002698
So I wonder what else happends between Begin Raise PostBackEvent and my actual postback event?

Albert

Is that the first line in your event handler?
Do you have any other event handlers? Page_PreInit? Page_Load? Page_PreRender?

I have some overridable functions but I check them if it is a postback before performing anything. So from that side I know there is not extra trip to the server it is just what happend before the postback event, where the 3 to 4 seconds occurs.
If I found what was the cause, I'll definetly let you know.
Thanks for your help anyway.
