Dear All,
i am making web application using asp.net ,C# (Visual studio 2005).i have a web page with couple textbox control that i used to fill date from calender controls.
that is ont textbox is start date and other one is end date. In order to check whether end date is not less then start date . i am using compare validator.
i work fine with normal format but when i change my format to dd/MM/yyyy, It causes problem . that is even i have end date greater then start date. it then also give error message
it work with following format
string str = Calendarstartdt.SelectedDate.ToString("d",DateTimeFormatInfo.InvariantInfo);
but this format show me date as mm/dd/yyyy and i need to show date as dd/mm/yyyy so i change the format as
string str = Calendarstartdt.SelectedDate.ToString("dd/MM/yyyy"); its show ok. but comparevalidator show error message
even if date is greater
Please guide me where i am going wrong.

I have a problem i would like help with.
I have created a webhandler i use for displaying images, its ProcessRequest looks like this.

The writeSingleImage function just retrieves the image frmo the database and writes it out to the response.
No i have made users able to rotate images, but since the webhandler caches images they wont be able to see changes until their cache expires.
So i want to remove a single cached image when users rotate that image. Hov do i do this. All i done to cache the image is what you see in the ProcessRequest above.
Hope somebody have an idea, because i really dont know too much about caching.

The image is being cached in either the browser's cache or their proxy server's cache (HttpCacheability.Public). So the cache must be cleared by the client. You *might* be able to get around this by adding a random value to the parameter string of the url they use to request the new image. So when they submit the GET request it looks something like this:
?ImageID=34&Size=500&noCache=342
You never have to check the "noCache" parameter, but the browser probably will make the request instead of pulling it from cache because the url has changed.

I understand that this's a strange question and I hope that's the place where I'll find a solution.
I've got a dynamic site (I can't tell the name due to privacy), which is an ASP.NET 1.1 / MSCMS 2002 application.
I need to download each page related to dropdownmenu, for example if a dropdown has got 3 values, I'll have to write down 3 pages, this works....
I've simulated the passage of all parameters by code taking them with an HTTP Traffic Analyzer, but when I open the downloaded page, I receive two times the grid contained in it. This doesn't happen when I open the page from ie. I think that for some items there's a copy of data in CMS but I've never developed with it and I don't know how to solve it, if someone has any idea, suggestion, or had got a problem similar to mine, please write me here or at mail.
I can't publish the url, that I know would help a lot, since the company for which I work doesn't want it.

I'm creating an ASP.NET custom control that will display several LinkButton derived objects with a separator graphic between them. My problem is that I keep getting the following error message if I attempt to put in any LinkButton derived objects: Type 'Lux.Presentation.LuxControls.LuxLinkItem' in Assembly 'Lux.Presentation.LuxControls, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' is not marked as serializable."
I'm not sure why it needs to be serializable. I can't find out any reason for this. So, I added the Serializable attribute and I get almost the same error again, but for the LinkButton class. Since the Microsoft control doesn't need to be serializable, I can't see why mine should need to be. I'm obviously missing some piece of the puzzle.
Here is what the code on the ASPX page looks like:

Do you add the controls to the viewstate? An object must be serializable to be saved in viewstate.

 That makes sense. I've altered my Load and Save Viewstate methods and it works now. I was just dumping the items directly into the viewstate. I though it would automatically call Load/SaveViewstate as needed.

I have a grid view with some links to take you
to details of the item in the grid. On the details page is
a link to go back to the page containing the grid.
I want this link to return people to the same position
on the page like the back button does.
I can't use "javascript:history.back()" because if they sort items
on the details page it will no longer take them back to the grid but just 'unsort'
the current page.
I have anchors on the page which kind of work.
But they will always put the grid item at the top of the page,
And if they clciked it at the bottom it will be quite a different position.
Any ideas anyone?

What you can do is pass the id of a control to your page in the querystring, or store as a session item or cookie or however you chose. Then in the codebehind on page load set focus to that control.

Hello All,
I am using .NET v1.1 with SQL Server 2005. I have cofigured the application for SQL Server Session state management. However i am not able to pass the session variable between 2 domains.
I went through 'ASPStateTempSessions' table from tempdb and found the 'SessionItemLong' column to be NULL. I am storing int type data in session so all my values go into 'SessionItemShort' column. I found the 'TempGetStateItem' procedure gets the session value from 'SessionItemLong' column.
Can anybody suggest me a resolution to this issue?

Yeah, store the session information in the database with your own code. You can create a table with fields and store each item seperately or you can store all the information as xml in one field. That should be easy enough.
