It more depends upon your personal choice. If you want to simply display data you must use tables and if you want to easily handle edit/delete operations you should use Data grid. Using data grid will make your life easy while sorting and performing other SQL related tasks.

Hi,
The Timeout property specifies the time-out period assigned to the Session object for the application, in minutes. If the user does not refresh or request a page within the time-out period, the session ends.
Session.Timeout [=nMinutes]

Hi,
First check the timeout property of session,
if it exceeds 5mins then call
Session.Abondon();

Set session time out as 5 minutes. Set the session timeout tag in config and it will be applicable for whole application

Hi,
I have many pages under secure flder in my project which i want to give form authentication.
But when i click particular button to redirect to the corresponding page in Secure folder but its not redirecting to the corresponding page, its redirecting to the defaultURL that is Login page ,
which i have given in my web.config file.
|
|
|
|

Did you add :
<location path="SecureFldName" >
<system.web>
<authorization>
<deny users="?" />
</authorization>
</system.web>
</location>
within the Tag system.web tag in web config

yup, I added that code already in my web.config file.
Thing is i added one more page say member.aspx into that secure folder.
if i click the respective button to redirect member.aspx, its not redirecting to member.aspx.
its going to the login page(Login.aspx)

Can you post here what you have written in web.config file for form authentication.

If you are publishing the website then you have to make a virtual directory in inetpub/wwwroot/ folder. You can do it by using Internet Information Services in Control Panel-> Administrative Tools option.

hi ...<br />
i want to apply max length limit in textBox control in asp.net when set textMode="muliline" .<br />
<br />
i search in internet and get follow description from : http:
HTML input type of text element provides a built-in MaxLength property to set the maximum number of characters that the user can enter. However, the TextArea element does not have such property to limit the number of characters that can be entered. When you have an ASP.NET TextBox control with TextMode="MultiLine" in your web page, it is rendered as an HTML TextArea element and you cannot use MaxLength property to set the maximum number characters.
What you can do is to define a keypress event handler for the TextBox control to check the length of the text inside the text area and cancel the event if the MaxLength is reached.
JavaScript
function ValidateMaxLength(evnt, str, maxLength) {
var evntKeyCode = GetEventKeyCode(evnt);
// Ignore keys such as Delete, Backspace, Shift, Ctrl, Alt, Insert, Delete, Home, End, Page Up, Page Down and arrow keys
var escChars = ",8,17,18,19,33,34,35,36,37,38,39,40,45,46,";
if (escChars.indexOf(',' + evntKeyCode + ',') == -1) {
if (str.length >= maxLength) {
alert("You cannot enter more than " + maxLength + " characters.");
return false;
}
}
return true;
}
ASPX
<asp:textbox id="txtValidateMaxLength" runat="server" textmode="MultiLine">
C#
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
txtValidateMaxLength.Attributes.Add("onkeypress", "return ValidateMaxLength((window.event) ? window.event : arguments[0] , this.value, 5)");
}
<br />
but when i execute it doesn't work . <br />
i think the problem is in first parameter of "ValidateMaxLength" method !!!
can you help me ?
