I just got done installing everything I need for Visual Web Deveoloper 08 Express and realized that most of the starter kits out there are still for 2.0. Anyone know where I can find a selection of web developement starter kits for 3.5? I reeeeally dont wanna convert from Vista back to XP ... Please tell me these exist somewhere and possibly a link to them. Thanks all.
Joel
If I said something clever or genius here I'd feel repetitious...

2.0 projects can be opened in VS08. You don't need to go back to XP.

I have a page that processes xml files. After processing, it then should move the files to a different location - thats not working now.
It uploads the files fine, processes them - but doesn't move. The message says: "Unable to find the specified file".
The code I am using is:
file.MoveTo(@"D:\MyArchive\badfiles\" + file.Name);
Here file is FileInfo object. The directory where I am trying to move it is a shared location, and the user have write permission.
Any idea why its failing?
Thanks.

Step into the code and check value of "D:\MyArchive\badfiles\" + file.Name . Make sure the file exists.

When I do that (Stepping into), it shows me a different path for the file - C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\Common7....looks like its searching for the file in this location, whereas the file is located where I saved it during download.
So, how can I fix it?
Thanks so much, Navaneeth.

Ideally I was looking for a GridView_UpdatedRowStyle Property. Doesn't appear to be available on the GridView. How can I indicate that a gridview row has been previously selected and or edited/updated? I would prefer to have a different color line such as the SelectedRowStyle.BackColor property.

I don't think that gridview supports this. You can subclass gridview and make your own control with necessary properties.

This doesn't make sense. You can use Text property for the textbox to get/set the text. What table are you using? If it is ASP table, take the column you want to assign the text and assign it.

What is stopping you from buying a book and working with it?

Imagine this...
I have a custom control and I drag it onto a .net web page. The custom control is given the id 'objMyControl'.
In the Page_Load event of the custom control I want to know what the page has called my control.
Any ideas?

i have to create database(create database dbname) from asp.net into sqlserver 2005, i m accepting server ip/name, uid, pwd to connect. How to do that ? need help
Thanks in advance.

You need to have permission for creating database
Then, all you need to do is to execute the correct instructions to create the database and structure
CREATE DATABASE ...
Just script out any of your exiisting databases to see the syntax

you can create using CREATE DATABASE command.

Why you are trying to do so? means each client will able to create database in server ? or what ?
cheers,

Basically i m creating a web based installer where users will create database and execute sqlscript on there hosting server, that y i need hosting server ip, uid, pwd.
The create database dbname will run for the first time to create the database then executing sqlscript will create structure in that database.
thats y i was confused how to create DB on the fly.

I have a DataView control and would like to display the first and last name of the employee using the Northwind db. I have the following which works fine...but I'd like to use the first and last name.
<ItemTemplate>
<%#Eval("Customer.CompanyName")%>;
</ItemTemplate>;

The easiest way is to concatenate the fields in sql 'firstname + lastName as Name'
A gridview has onitemdatabound event where you can set the values in code. But I am not familiar with a dataview.

After a user successfully inserts a new record in the "DetailView" control, I want to redirect them to a new page. Is the best method of doing this as follows:
protected void DetailsView1_ItemInserted(object sender, DetailsViewInsertedEventArgs e)
{
Response.Redirect("Part2.aspx");
}
|
|
|
|
|
Yes. If you want to stop processing code then do Response.Redirect("Part2.aspx", true); otherwise leave it.
