Hi, I read XML file from web site using with following code;
string Url = "http://www.abc.com/myfile.xml";
WebRequest webRequest = default(WebRequest);
WebResponse webResponse = default(WebResponse);
DataSet ds = new DataSet();
webRequest = WebRequest.Create(Url);
webResponse = webRequest.GetResponse();
Stream responseStream = webResponse.GetResponseStream();
ds.ReadXml(responseStream);
How can I add password protection for read this xml file from URI?
Best Regards...

you are responding the XML through a Handler I think....
If so, just when the request is made, you can place the password to the request header.. .
from the handler, check whether the request header contains the passkey or not.. .

In case of a Http error 500, how to retry the AJAX call one more time before displaying the error to the user
|
|
|
|
|
do that call again.. buddy...
but you need to create a new Object of XMLHttpRequest to make the call again.... .
Just when obj.status == 500 create a new object and call ajaxobj.send(null)... or whatever you need.

Hi friends,
I have a datagrid with various radiobuttons binded in it. on clicking the radiobutton im using an to load the related page.
And also im doing the sorting on the data grid on clicking at the header of the grid column.
My problem is once i click on the radio button, i can able to see the page through <iframe>. After that, When i try to sort the grid the values in the grid are sorted out but the page i loaded through the radio click event disappears. The radio button which i clicked alone retains...
again if i click the same radio button or different one the page appears..
I need to retain the page as well after sorting.
Kindly help me on this.
Thanks in advance
Ashok

Usage of static variables in web pages looks really cool. But I have a minor requirement over it. "static" shares the variable across all the users. Is there any similar qualifier that restricts the variable associate with the instance specific usage? that doesn't get shared across multiple users? It will be nice if we have something like "user-static". . Just checked,There's no such thing. let's take the usual way,sessions.

Stick it in the Session then.

Hi,
I have a class file: dbtest and a have create a static public function that returns values from database.
Since its an static public function so i can access it as dbsale.function().
Now I wanted to know the disadvantages of this approach when say there are some 1000 call at a time for this function.
I have searched a lot and found examples of using static public functions but no where I found it to be used for calling a database operation.
Thanks in advance.

I think I can equate this multi-user thing to a multithreaded environment. You can use public static functions, there will be no problem. But if you are using static objects inside your function, then there's a one. There are big chances your static objects get overwritten with calls from other clients. If you are using local objects or instance members inside the function, then there wouldn't be any problem.
This is all a guess. I haven't tried this in Asp.net
